I wouldn't say she's a total fuckup, she did well in guiding Rakka and taking care of children, even if part of her motivation was selfish.

Some people are just very guarded about letting other people see their emotions, there's that fear of being hurt/misunderstood/abandoned which Reki obviously had. There's also that self-victimization and fatalist mindset in play.

It's interesting to see how all of Reki's issues feed into one another, and how you can't squarely blame everything on her past. It's clear that getting abandoned by her mentor fucked her up, and using that boy as rebound gave her a lot of guilt, but it doesn't totally explain away her intense self-hatred. That fact she still felt that way even after getting forgiveness from those factory Haibane shows how deep her issues run.

If you accept the whole purgatory theory of the show, where the world outside the walls represents the great unknowable mystery of what comes after death, then it becomes clear why they could never show it.

Stop calling it comfy or comparing it to plot-less SoLs. It makes me want to kill myself for liking it. HR is good for consistently good tone, atmosphere, progression, and poetic ambiguity.

Is it just me or are there really no good torrents for this show? The BDs are upscales with disgusting filters and all DVD encodes seem to be old and shitty.

Looks like someone didn't pay attention to the show

If you take absolutely everything into account, the show's animation quality is serviceable/slightly above average. The main issue is that it's very inconsistent, ranging from low budget hentai to almost Ghibli level (and I'm not even exaggerating).

I downloaded the coalgirls one and the quality was bellow average, and that's because coalgirls always bloat their releases with garbage like FLAC and unnecessary high bit rate.
But the show's animation is pretty bad in itself and no good torrent would fix that.
