Today it's the day Volume 7 is officially released on amazon, oth on physical and digital versions. There's also higher quality digital versions available at Kobo too.

Drastically improved, other than a few odd choices of words and some errors here and there, it's definitely one of the better ones in terms of TL quality.

This volume covers the second part of the spirit turtle battle, which also started somewhere around the end of volume 6.

The lore about the spirit turtle itself, it's purpose and the rest of the guardian beasts is expanded upon. The Spirit Turtle is taken over by an unknown party and can no longer complete it's original mission. So it's up to Naofumi and his friends to stop it, and the mastermind behind this disaster.

This is probably one of my favorites, high up there with volume 1 and 4. The stakes are higher this time too than at that point in the web novel. And although it ends in a bittersweet fashion (more bitter than sweet in my opinion), it serves as a point of growth for naofumi and company, who strive to correct the wrongs and injustice done during the spirit turtle's rampage.

Now i'll begin to dump illustrations from the volume and a bit of info regarding them.

This is Osto Hourai (localized as Ost Horai), she had a very brief appearance somewhere around the end of volume 6, and is one of the most pivotal characters in this volume.

Glass, Therese and L'Arc make a reappearance in this volume.The Extra chapter included in this volume also focuses on them and their time in the world Naofumi was summoned to.

Ost assists Naofumi in casting a powerful spell to get them out of a bind. This particular spell is All Liberation (revelation in the web novel) Aura. By using the Whale Core shield's magic assistance function, Naofumi uses energy borrowed from the spirit turtle and mixes it with his magic and soul power to cast it.

Ost's first appearance in the novel, she's revealed to be a familiar (human type) of the Spirit Turtle. She joins naofumi's efforts in stopping the spirit turtle, as it has not been properly unsealed and has been taken over and cannot complete it's original mission.

After rallying the army to have another go at the spirit turtle, now named the Spirit turtle Tyrant, Naofumi barely manages to stay alive after the barrage of lasers the spirit turtle launches at him. He defends his party for them gather strength and behead the turtle once more. Of course this fails, the turtle regenerates it's head shortly after the beheading.

After a quick regroup, fitoria calls out to naofumi through firo. She can assist in battle against the turtle, but she needs naofumi to stall it for an hour at most. He takes Ost and firo with him, and sends the others to assist in the evacuation efforts, as the turtle is just that close to the castle town in melromarc. He's forced to use the Wrath shield this time, but has to switch between it and the Soul eater shield since the laser drains his SP and magic. Ost uses naofumi's internal rage as fuel to power some spells and extend the time he can use the wrath shield.

After boarding the spirit turtle and exploring inside it, Naofumi and his friends encounter Glass's group. They're separated shortly after and forced to fight mimics of Glass and L'Arc

Glass's world arc is okay, Village arc's pacing is improved by mixing in action stuff that is supposed to be later.

Our heroes try and defeat the turtle from the inside, by targeting it's heart. Of course, it's not that simple, as it quickly regenerates after being cut down. Ost also feels the recoil of the heart being destroyed, since she has a connection to it. They all manage to stop the turtle by having the army use the seal at the same time the heart and the head of the spirit turtle are destroyed.

How much of a rafu-looking motherfucker is raph-chan? I mean, for being in some part a clone of raphtalia.

Raphchan is pretty based in those few moments she was used in, but doesn't play a big role since she was introduced way earlyer. Most mentions of her is moments when Nao wants to pet her, play with her and other stuff like this.

Every ending is the fucking bullshit so far.
I really hope LN will be better in that regard. So far it is promising.

And so, at arriving at the innermost chamber of the spirit turtle, Naofumi finds the perpetrator behind this mess. Kyo Ethnina, current holder of the legendary book a vassal weapon. He's harvesting the soul energy collected by the turtle for an unknown purpose, and also has captured the 3 holy heroes of this world. Siphoning their power to create spirit turtle guardians that quickly overpower naofumi and his party

Though Naofumi's harem look seems to be a bigger than in the WN.

Latest volume seems to have plenty of character developement for itsuki, i wonder if it'll be the same for the other heroes in next volumes.

How big of a change was there from the WN to the LN?

Well at that point in the WN, glass came to request asylum in naofumi's world since most of the heroes of her world died. in the LN, they were just starting to so one of the heroes of her world requests naofumi's help in this predicament. Rishia and itsuki tag along, the big bad is the hero of the instrument from glass's world. Not sure if he's a main or vassal weapon hero though.

2 arcs added (one in Glass's world other seemingly about Raphtalia's past), pacing improved, no chuuni sins arc in sight. Interdimensional alliance, world killers and heroes from dead worlds added much earlier.

Oh. Is it worth reading and what volume is this? It's been like 2 years since I read the WN so if it is, I'll just read the entire LN.

The one i mentioned is volume 17, the lasest one. The arcs about glass's world cover vol 8 and 9. The ones about raphtalia's country take place in vol 13 and 14.

Jesus. Did the word count double from the WN then? I remember Glass coming over and then it was already final boss battles and world assimilation in the WN. Then it ended horribly and the author redid the ending.

At a critical moment, Glass and his companions arrive to help Naofumi. They explain they came to punish kyo for taking over a guardian beast, which is not only thought impossible but it is also prohibited.

For being a "light novel" the story is getting quite long now. Not sure about the word count though.

Nevermind this then Anyway if I remember correctly Instrument weapon was in WN, so it is Vassal weapon.

The owner has a full japanese name, but they did say vassal weapons have otherworld holders so it might very well be a vassal weapon.

After kyo gets a hold of Ost, who is now revealed to have been the spirit turte's soul manifest in human form, he takes the spirit turtle's collected energy to power himself up and make things harder for everyone more than they already are. Rishia takes a few levels in badass here and distracts him long enough for ost to give naofumi the last remnants of her power and unlock the spirit turtle heart shield. Which he uses to destroy the Spirit turtle's core, and foil kyo's plans

I've yet to buy the new volumes. I currently own the volume where Shield defeats the turtle.

I read this volume quite some time ago, but I liked it overall. Especially changes from LN.
Book guy made better boss, Larc's team was fun, lore was told better. I also liked how new shield and aura magic were introduced. I guess Naofumi will be turtle all the way in LN instead of being a dragon faggot.

After Kyo absconds with the energy that was left from the core's destruction. Naofumi and co. tearfully hear the last words of Ost, who was starting to disappear after the destruction of the core, naofumi more so since he was directly responisble for her death. Ost never resenting her fate for she was born to protect the world, with her own life if it was necessary. She tells naofumi that he must recover the energy that kyo stole, and requests the holy shield to allow the holy heroes to conditionally invade other worlds.

With renewed drive, Naofumi takes Rishia, Firo and Raphtalia and accompanies glass and his companions to her world so they punish Kyo for all the sins he's committed.

The shield even already granted him the dragon's blessing, i wonder how will gaelion react to that. Though i really liked how Gaelion and The wrath shield interacted

That was somewhat fun, but I don't think that it really suited Naofumi.
Well, there still is dragon core in his armor, so we'll see.

Pretty sure the whole OH FUCK WHY AM I SUCCESSFULLY ENCHANTING MY SHIELD is still gonna be a thing. I was mentioning how gaelion and naofumi double teamed ren, though gaelion isn't a thing until vol 12 in the LN apparently.

Yeah, Ren joined the party before Gaelion even showed up.

It's a bummer but it had to be done.

I guess this can lead to some cool stuff with Gaelion anger issues and Ren and Wyndia bonding.

Oh yeah, maybe they'll do that next volume.

Let me give you an analogy. There's a social going on, and someone goes on and on about complaining about because they believe a certain generalization (rather racist). They want to prove themselves that they are right or some shit but only cause a shitstorm of proportions that drag others into it. The moral is that we all need to take a deep breath and just learn to back off and keep silent. That way, you be the better person. Something that both sides of the equation can't do. This is on both sides, contrarian and fans alike.
