It's a trick, though. The idea is that he wants to surpass the human body's neuro/psychological blocks against self-damage through motion (for the sake of being able to launch a more powerful/faster punch) - you know, like how your eye blinks against your will if you try to put eyedrops in. So, the character is taught a technique which allows him to bypass those blockers. It is to convince your brain that your body is actually composed of several thousand bones which can accelerate: the brain "allows" the body to accelerate to its absolute, self-destructive capacity because it legitimately believes that these bones/joints exist. It ends with him breaking both his hands, arms and legs; and he loses his right arm.

As cool as it was, it was only a single spread from a minor set of chapters that doesn't even spoil that outcome of that.

Yes, translator ragequit after Trump won the election. We were actually consistently on weekly releases for months prior to that.
