Some hate it because it is popular. Lots of people who don`t normally watch anime have watched it and like it. It is probably like Ghibli hate.

Not him but i did find it slow and boring too.
Characters just didn't hook me up and even when they we involved into seemingly fun plot, it still felt flat as hell.

I thought it was slow and boring as well until Jupiter Jazz, then it picked up immensely. I still think the first half is mostly bland with a few gems thrown in (Toys in the Attic for one).

The movies are widely disliked and I really don't think thats whats keeping the daily Eva threads going at full force. I truly believe that if the Rebuild's did not exist there would still be people arguing about it just as excessively as they are right now.

And I specifically said argue because thats almost all that goes on in Eva threads. Every now and again you'll see someone ask a question that actually relates to the series and people will seriously answer but even that inevitably devolves into arguing about whether or not Shinji was into Kaworu, who best girl was, why didn't he just rape Asuka, which Rei is best and of course, my personal favorite, the Reifag who somehow posts in almost every single Eva thread just to fling shit at Asukafags and Kaworufags. Until the next movie comes out there isn't anything to talk about that hasn't already been talked about so instead of just not posting at all, Evafags would rather shitpost all day every day.

It's definitely primarily the arguing over waifu shit and what Anno meant by this or that, but I still think the Rebuilds are subconsciously keeping the series on people's minds enough to keep them talking about it.

Since you guys are talking about old animes, what do you think about Elfen Lied, tought it was pretty good, just tought it was weird that there are not even shitposting threads about it
