Thinly veiled rec thread.

Allof th em

Every thread.

that wasn't underrated and it was pretty shit.

I will bump it up in my backlog. Surely it has to be good to warrant this dedication.

Good taste OP may I suggest Welcome to the NHK? Paranoia Agent is one of my favorites but NHK is by far the best IMO, Also Hajime no Ippo if you wanna watch something that gets you into a sport.

Thank you, NHK has been on my "to watch" list for too long, but I'll look into Hajime also.

...

Aw shit! I've been meaning to watch that anime your pic is from what is it again? Also, no prob my dood!

This is fun and a bit raunchy I watched it when I was first getting into anime, a lot of fun if you're lookin' for something like that.

Aku no Hana a.k.a. Flowers of Evil, it's really a hit or miss from what I've read online, I personally loved it and enjoyed the animation. It's different.

I watched these and Lain around the same time. They're OK, Paranoia Agent was 2deep4u (I like Eva so not judging) and NHK sorta flipped around a lot. Not really underrated.

Personally I really enjoyed Last Exile.

I wish there were more shows like that and pic related.

You're a good person

Saint Oniisan was pretty good.

Neon Genesis Evangelion
K-On!
Code Geass
The Monogatari Series
Madoka
Kill la Kill

OP says underrated not overrated.

Here you go.

Never heard of that one. Might have to check it out.

Lurk moar
The show is great, though.

...

never actually got around to watching it, is the dub okay? want to watch it on second monitor as do stuff.

The dub is good so go for it yo!

don't be so friendly, it's awkward. next time someone asks about a dub, just give them the answer and call them a faggot for not watching it in nipspeak.

>Best card captor sakura/sailor moon/pretty cure kind of show
>Fucken great sound design, stellar world building (the magic stuff is so fucking great and presented in a natural way). atmosphere reminds me a lot of kids movies from the 90s.
>No one watched it
>No one remembers it
>mfw vvvv

My apologies bro!... er I mean Fuck you you fugin' trash sack ass bitch! (sorry) F4gG0t

I think it's good up until they reveal who the killer is, then it kind of falls apart. What should be a climax is a two second climax and then a shitty, slow come down.

I still recommend it because the animation itsself is lovely and the characters are still great even if it falls a part.

I loved this one but i read the manga and didn't want to watch the anime too. Shame because I've seen clips and think animation does some stuff better for it.

As for me, I don't see a lot of fans of yu yu hakusho when people mention older anime. It was my favourite as a kid when it'd air on toonami and I met one of my best friends who I'm still friends with today through us both loving the show. The only other person I know who likes it is my husband.

If you read the manga I suggest not watching the anime My experience with it was Anime then the manga then the book Ant that was the best. The anime is very well made and extremely relatable and the manga is a bit less but it's more impactful over all. Novel is just the anime but a bit darker (a bit) read it if you wanna no need to though, I had to buy them all because of my love for it.

This had a unique narrative form, great design and animation and a touching story that left you in tears at the end.
True, it had its cheesy moments, and the action parts were always less interesting than the SoL moments, but still it deserves more attention.

>that left you in tears at the end.

fpbp.

didn't even know it had an adaptation

Quite possibly the epitome of awful early 00's CG, but actually had an entertaining enough plot, fun cast, and some surprisingly good character development throughout. First ED is also pure ear sex.

You mean underappreciated? Because I don't think any of Satoshi Kon's work is underrated, in fact, most of them are slightly overrated (I do agree they are good, some great, but or still).

plz no

Samumenco
Giarlish Number
Oshiette Galko Chan
Osomatsu-san
Kemono Souja Eirin
Rokka no Yuusha
any sports anime
Sidonia no Kishi, Ajin
Hoozuki Rei something (the one the dudes is a demon/oni by wit)

Not sure if it actually got that popular at all, but Kyousou Giga is pretty entertaining. Story, soundtrack, designs and directing are very nice, but a bit of budget trouble near the end.

While I'd like to shitpost with stuff like Coppelion that I genuinely enjoyed in spite of its flaws, the show where the negative/lukewarm reaction completely baffled me was Space Dandy.

Underwatched would be a better word, if anything. These are generally shilled to no end by those who watched them. They just aren't very accessible.

Typical shows you keep on your backlog forever.

>Satoshi anime
>Adult Swim anime
>Underrated
Definitely overlooked though.

The TV series was pretty disappointing. I enjoyed it overall, but it seemed like the web episodes were building up to something much more interesting than what we ended up getting.

>>Best card captor sakura/sailor moon/pretty cure kind of show

Th''ts a really, really serious claim. It doesn't surprise my that a magical girl show would be good or overlooked, but I won't take the idea that it's flat out the best mahouh shoujo lightly, since in my eyes that's flat out claiming its the best anime, period.

>They just aren't very accessible.
>Ippo

Wut?

even Sup Forums keeps sand bagging this one. I guess if it wasn't on toonami is didn't exist.

agreed this one actually had a good gimmick going

Why does Japan love ripping off David Lynch?

You seemed to have misread this thread. This is for underrated shows, not overrated shit.

It just always seems like David Lynch is brought up when Japs discuss why the try so hard to be whacky and different. Monster gives off big Twin Peaks vibes, same thing with Paranoia Agent.

and the game Deadly Premonition/Red Seeds Profile is just a blatant rip off of Twin Peaks.

...

That OP was great
youtube.com/watch?v=-anabfAg06U

Anything higher than 480p for NHK?

That one was way to obvious. Similarly, Silent Hill is Twin Peaks meets spooky jap horror. Also the Persona series borrows blatantly from it as well. I guess it was really popular over there.

Scanlation never.

>Never heard of Sora no Woto

Jesus, what has happened to this board?

it was ok with a good ost and some nice moments, but nothing to write home about
noice

OVA or TV series?

...

People grew immune to circlejerkers.

Its not underated I feel like i have seen threads but its pretty good.
>About cucks and suicide literally /ourguy/

Here's the difference between dub and sub:
One of my favorite scenes in the entire series is the bit in the first episode where he's sitting around in his apartment when Misaki's supposed to be waiting for him in the park. In the Japanese version, it's a very somber scene where he can't bring himself to go, until finally managing to push himself into it by telling himself that she's probably already left.

In the dub, Sato's mumbling to himself was replaced with a loud neurotic rambling that was probably meant to be funny. It ruins the entire tone of the scene. The dub does this with most of his dialog.
