from what i have heared the japanese one sold pretty bad, then the english one was successfull so they republished the english version with japanese subs which was more successfull than the original one. i wouldnt be suprised in the least

If I'm not mistaken, Ghost Stories success came from the fact that it had an excellent timeslot, which was 7:30 PM on a Sunday. It had a rerun in 2002 with abysmal success (airing at 4 PM instead).
