The point he is trying to make is that just because someone has gone through higher education, it does not make them intelligent. People that are actually highly intelligent as you say usually read peer reviewed work or at least well respected nonfiction books by authors with academic or real experience on topics that interest them.
Also higher education is too vague of a category. What schools were these people going to? What did they major in? A bachelors degree in mathematics from Stanford is a lot harder than a Phd. in gender studies from insert random state university / Canadian university. Overall this chart is vague, the research methodology is shit, and you're a fucking leaf who probably can't critically think to save his life.
