Is Kobayashi a well-written character?

Kinda find it interesting how they use brown lines to make the characters blend in, works really well.

No

She is

Maid otaku are inherently poorly written characters.

...

Not at all
Just boring overdone jokes again and again

She's not a maid otaku, she's a normal human being

Kobayashi and Tohru are both well written characters.

There's a cool bit in the art book for Totoro which talks about the use of brown vs. black charcoal for outlines. Brown gives things a softer look and doesn't change the colour too much, while black gives more definition. I found it very interesting, you don't really notice these things. Though I don't really like the outline colour in Kobayashi, I think it looks bad.

MODS WE HAVE E-CELEB SHILLING GOING ON HERE

What kind of sicko makes a 17 fucking minute long video of themselves talking about anime? Fuck youtube

This page raises a lot of questions

DOUJIN/DREAM SEQUENCE ALERT

She is rather a well errased.

No, she's the worst MC archetype
>gosh, this fucking awesome magical dragon that can fly and protect me and is super strong and loves me unconditionally and cooks and cleans my house and asks for nothing in return is SO ANNOYING I'm gonna yell at her all the time

>a cringey stalker
>not annoying

Nice, I thought he'd trashed this show.

She yells at Tohru all the time?

It's not a dream sequence. Doujins when

I liked grumpy jii-san did it
dont think i ever liked another anime reviewer.

>the main character doesn't react to situations like I would do, so she's crap.

It's already been made into a doujin

She doesn't react to a situation like any sane person would. That makes her not a well written character.

>workaholic
>lives like a slob when she doesn't have a live in maid to keep things up
>no friends
>seems like a general downer to be around

They wrote her to be pretty terrible

Any other person would call the police

I only checked out clips so far (thinking on picking it up, looks heartwarming) and I can already tell your full of crap. Kobayashi only screams at her when drunk and is pretty down to earth all the time calling on Tohru on pretty understandable stuff.

>911 what is your emergency
>uhh yea there's a dragon trying to move into my house please send a car
>miss please don't prank call 911
>click

>enrolls kanna to school
>gets a bigger apartment for everyone to live comfortably
>woks late to be with kanna in her sports festival
>teaches elma how to use a computer
>worries about Tohru's feelings

I think you're a retard or never watched the anime

>there is a stalker who sexually harass me

>boring overdone jokes again and again
So the average Japanese comedy character. Japanese comedy seems to tend to fall into three distinct trends: puns, joker-straight man, or slapstick. While all three of those are universal to some degree, it's rare that I see anything beside them. I honestly can't think of examples of something that didn't fall into that category off the top of my head. I wonder how prevalent that is in other countries' entertainment.

Grumpy Jii-san officially endorsed by Satan.

I've seen people call emergency services for less and not call them when they really should. Besides:
>counting on Japanese police to actually do anything of use

I forgot about Jugemu, that would be one example that didn't fit into one of those three categories.

about as well-written as anything written in Python

>Tohru perception blocks the police
>miss there is no one here, please stop calling
>Tohru can now molest Kobayashi till her hearts content

So, functional without being a mess.

I agree

>Molest
I literally have failed to see anything if the sort. So far she only admires her and is only pushy about feeding her her tail.

She never called the police either you dingo, it's was a hypothetical situation had that occurred

there's no flair neither to her nor to anything written in Python

monkey language

Guys I'm more attracted to Kobayashi every day. But she has the body type of a 2x4. What's wrong with me?

You realized that physical attraction is only one facet of general attraction. Alternately you're becoming planksexual.

What's the most stylish language?

She's got the perfect body. I want to use her to board up a window.

I'm on the same boat. The more I watch her the more I feel attracted. What sorcery is this?

Perl

Familiarity breeds fondness.

>no chapter where Kobayashi gets the huge tits she has always secretly desired, only to realize what a burden they are and wish to go back to being DFC

Kobayashi is actually pretty believable when you think about it.

Sure, she's surrounded by dragons from another realm, but her chronic apathy just doesn't make her give a shit about it.

She reacts relatively well in accordance to her environment because she innately understands that despite all of the literal magic surrounding her,the general populace isn't ready for that.At least in theory.

Imagine if anyone of you chucklefucks suddenly had a magical best friend/acquaintance/whatever that was tied to you directly.Sure you would be able to do some cool shit in the privacy of your own home, but you'd be captured and institutionalized by the federal government the moment that shit let out.

That's just the hypothetical anyway

When you take away the magic dragons and lolis and shit,Kobayashi is well written in the sense that she's very believable.

She's an introverted code monkey in a big city away from her family. She has no friends outside of Takiya. She has no lovers after her and she's not chasing any dick either. She's a loudmouth, belligerent, and can't handle her alcohol very well. She is a stonecold realist. She has the body of a prepubescent boy and in reality, she's a fujoshi.

Despite all of these flaws, the beauty in her character are the moments of maternity and understanding. Kobayashi is still a woman afterall. Instinctively she enjoys nurturing and caring for people.

There are no better moments of character development in the series, than those of her comforting Kanna with peaceful eyes and a soft smile.

Every f/a/ggot here has a few of those moments throughout their life, whether it be on the receiving or giving end of nurture. And watching her discover and express those few fleeting moments in life, makes her a well written character

That was beautiful.

>suddenly had a friend

Even in a world where magic is real I can't believe that would happen

>having a good fun time for 11 episodes
>then we get to this

Maybe it hit harder because all the good times from before made you comfortable something like this wouldn't happen

you don't remember being in kindergarten and some random kid gives you a compliment and that you two should be friends?

tha fuck is wrong with you, nigga?

shit, that kind of thing happened to me all the way through junior year of college

This. I'm introverted as fuck and even I got to have one or two friends during school just by clicking on incredibly casual stuff like enjoying the same food or finding out we like the same videogame.

You don't need to be soulmates just find something you enjoy doing together or have a common interest on (like complaining about the same teacher) and everything unfolds from that point.

Sure her going from being a complete shut in aside from talking to one person at work to becoming what is basically the center of a lot of people's lives is pretty well done

She didn't seek out these people to help them nor did it happen all at once she had to gradually get used to being with Tohru before getting to know Lucua and Fafnir then Kanna comes along and she basically becomes a mother to her

I can't remember stuff that never happened

Toilet humour.

if someone asked to be my friend in elementary school i probably ignored them and went back to reading my book tbqh

But I would never give a girl this flat a second glance, and even if I did, if I realized her personality was this bland id be turned away at that point. Yet Kobayashi stays on my mind

Most of the thread feels like people who didn't even watch the show.

I genuinely can't believe you have went your entire life without any interaction like that. Even the worst autists eventually find another autist to pal around with

>that cliche-ass MC speach to the Dad at the end
>no real reason why Kobayashi isn't a guy
>kanna touches the other loli
>other loli ahegaos
Is this shit trying to shill lesbo agendas?

Kobayashi acts like a dude, has the body of a dude. You might have the gays.

...

Everybody always said I was scary or creepy and didn't want to associate with me

>KissAnime

>no tits
>some hips
A guy can get a body like that. You're liking the trap body archetype, and traps are gay.

Makoto was a guy, with an almost exact same personality and hobbies as Kobayashi and I had no attraction to him. The same would be true of Kobayashi had I not known she was female

No. But she's easily the most boring/ugly character of the year.

>expecting normies to look above face value
I understand. But even I had some niggas I hung out with, in all the different education periods. 100% chance you're a dude, because people would brave themselves to talk to you if you were a chick.

On one hand it seemed to really be shilling having a family and how rewarding it is. Makes sense for Japan since they need more of that happening. But on the other, the two most prominent couples in the series were lesbians. So I'm not really sure what message they were going for.

>inb4 yaoi faggots try to say Takaya and Fafnir were gay despite there never being a single instance to indicate they were anything more than two roommates with similar interests

Not really. She did play the important role of a straight man in a decidedly silly comedy series however.

That's your natural instinct in that case, naturally being attracted to something based on its gender (female). Although the fashion lately is for the opposite - succubus(male).

None of the characters in Maidragon are particularly well-written. They don't need to be for the setting, though.

>man

This. Liking females is gay.

No, she's not. What are her hobbies, what is she into outside her otaku interest? I have no idea. I still love her for what we know of her though.
(for example, saw her like this on her phone and was wondering what she could have been looking at. All that came to was maidshit and work/programming shit.)

Again, really don't get why Kobayashi couldn't be a dude, since it literally wouldn't change anything. She doesn't talk like a chick or act like one. Also Tohru ironically has a better body than Lucoa, which is ironic.

me too
I speculate that it's a form of gap moe
she's so androgynous most of the time that when you actually see her feminine side it's even sexier

Kobayashi pls, it's a figure of speech

>She doesn't talk like a chick or act like one
What does that mean?

Liking a female that might as well be a male is leaning towards gay. Liking the fertile Tohru, Lucoa or Elmo is leaning towards straight. Liking the lolis is leaning towards 5 years.

because if she was a dude she wouldnt be moe

She acts like a bro, especially obvious in Takiya's interactions with her. Also being feminine is mostly represented with liking sweets, clothes, shopping, gosipping, bashfulness, blushing, etc. I saw none if that during the show.

>be male
>series to into one of already billions of shows where male MC gets a waifu to live in his house
>entire series now reads like Shouta bits do

Yea no thanks

Tohru and loli are moe enough. No reason for there to be lesbian shit.

I tried the first two episodes so far, she's nice in a boring straight-man kind of way, and dead tired of this shit salarygirl, although maid otakus are odd and a bit annoying (and she keeps bullying tohru's outfit which is mean)
drunk koba is a bit better
>strip
>STRIP

It's part of her charm for sure. It's specially noticeable when Kanna or Tohru trigger her doting and maternal side. Also she cuts an amusing line between agressive and cute behavior that reveal that she's a woman when drunk. Being petty about breasts immediately dennounces her.

Was talking about the gender. It wouldn't change anything, since she already acts like a man, but it wouldn't be lesbo trash. The shouta shit is just typical anime bullshit.

That's the thing, she clearly has no other hobbies or interests
>gets time off
>sits in front of TV the whole time

>skinnyfat but still no tits
How sad.

I have a couple female bro friends that like normal guy stuff and talk about it normally while still decidedly being female and commenting on women issues from time to time. I wonder if those kind of girls are rare in Japan. People seem surprised to find a character like Kobayashi or imply is wrong to think of her as a female.

Because she isn't that masculine aside from when she's drunk. His interactions would change and he'd probably rape every female dragon in sight.

she's basically the average jap salaryman with an otaku side
>spent childhood doing nothing but playing vidya
>obsesses over maids and cosplay
>does nothing but work, catch up on sleep lost to work, shop for necessities, and faff with her smartphone/tv/internet when she's not doing one of the above
>shit at socializing, insecure, only ever let's go when shitfaced after half a pint of beer

Except it would. Let's take the bath scene for example
>hey Kobayashi want me to wash your back
>yea ok whatever
Now let's do that while Kobyashi is male
>hey Kobyashi want me to wash your back
>N-NO GET OUT OF HERE YOU MIGHT SEE MY DICK OR SOMETHING

We got to cut out all those awkward, generic exchanges by not having Kobyashi be male

>the "gays are immoral" meme
religionfags need to leave this website
i don't know whether you're from some third world shithole or from the southern US (equally as bad tbqh), but actual civilized first world countries don't listen to Jesus' advice on which anime to watch and whether or not Harry Potter is evil

She should just juice up on Tohru's ass meat, then ravage said ass in her true form with her World Dragon dick in front of her father.
