Dublin never experienced an Industrial Revolution. If it did, the population of the city could easily be between 5 and 9 million people. It could be in the top 5 cities in Europe by population.
Before 2004, we had the highest proportion of citizens living in rural areas in the EU. Compare the Republic to Northern Ireland - Belfast did experience an Industrial Revolution, and as such the area around the Causeway Coast has much less one-off housing compared to West Donegal or South Wexford.
