Master Keaton and Dezaki's Black Jack are what I'm currently going through

MK is comfy as fuck, surprised I don't see it mentioned more often. One of the few truly mature shows I've watched

That's next on my listt. Does it have the spirit of the late 90s?

Very much so. It doesn't exist in any available form above VHS-quality so the shitty artifacting will at least sell that much.

The dub is also legit amazing. The show is very international and they go out of their way to hire the appropriate European/British/Asian voice actors for each self-contained episode's new charcacters

not an anime, but I'm watching ReBoot

Good to hear. Quality shouldn't be too much of an issue since I'll be watching it on a CRT

Forgot to mention that I made a quick encode of this series, since I couldn't find any readily-available raws. I have no idea what I'm doing and I tried to keep the filesize down, so in the rare chance that someone subs this, they should make a better encode on their own. The source is the DVD boxset from AB/ADC. I'll upload it to anirena in a bit, unless someone has a better suggestion. It seems like it was dubbed in a lot of languages (except for English), so someone here might've already seen it.

How am I supposed to download old anime now?

>Art of Fighting

I didn't expect it to be 100% accurate to the backstory of the game, but this wasn't even trying

``Copyright violation is worse than murder.'' - Confucius

By not being so helpless.

Searching for it. Google is your friend.

Asatani is getting cuter.

Victory Gundam and once I'm done with all that's in my backlog is from the past decade

Finished pic just now for the first time.
Was quite entertaining second half >> first half.
Disliked the "magic, fortune telling" stuff, best episodes were the last 3 + 19.

I've been watching Maruko-chan!

What's the verdict on Kasei Yakyoku?

I think it's good based off of what's been translated.

I just hope that the translation actually gets completed soon.

does anyone remember an anime about a fat round cat and a fat round mouse that chased each other in carts?

The mouse befriended a lion and the cat was pretty gentlemanly about his intentions of eating the mouse.

holy shit I finally found it

youtube.com/watch?v=lKPU5XyM8p4

Just finished Black Magic M-66 and the last Iczer.

This isn't anime.

Cardcaptors, Inuyasha, His and Her Circumstances, and I just watched Otaku No Video

Mediocre at best. Only has the visuals going for it. Might look amazing as a BD, but it's mostly forgotten by history anyway.

Watching ZZ Gundam since it's the last on my list for UC series. It's alright I guess. I can see why it's hated, but I like Judau a lot more than previous pilots.

You should check out Bobby ni Kubittake

Urusei Yatsura! I love it.

Ashita no Fujoshit 2

Watching Platabor
The main cast has the VAs from Masion Ikokku, Yurusei yatsura and Ramma 1/2

I have that on my torrent queue. The subbed version says VHS, but there's also a DVD ISO rip that I'll download. Do you know if they're the same quality? If there really hasn't been a DVD encode yet, someone should make one.

There actually is a DVD encode, it's just quite shitty.

That looks similar to the screenshots for the DVD ISO, so perhaps the source material isn't that good.

Yeah, it's definitely better than the VHS though.

Too bad it's a hardsub. I might make an .ass for the DVD rip, then.

Amuro was best near the end of Gundam, Kamille was second best, Judau isn't too dislikable but i just didn't like the comedy aspect

I can tell you what I want to be watching or reading.

Tsurikichi Sanpei.

I'm also watching this after years of lamenting for the lack of subs. I'm so grateful someone decided to pick it up.

Never.

I just started the original Patlabor OVA. It seems pretty fun so far.

Is it better to watch the rest of the franchise in release order or in chronological order?

Don't make me cry. I'll hold on to my glimmer of hope.

>Big O was aired on 2001
This is actually news to me, I didn't even followed that show until now just because I assumed it was just steampunk batman for some reason

finished Burn Up and Angel Cop, next will be City Hunter

anyone know any other gunplay action shows?

I need to get back to watching City Hunter. I got 4~5 episodes into City Hunter 2, then I just stopped for whatever reason. I miss watching it. Fun show.

Just watch it in release order. There's a plot later on, but the series didn't do a good job of adapting it because they fucked the pacing up. So don't worry about the plot, just watch for the characters and setting.

I know that it's one of those classics that eveyone's supposed to have seen already, but I still haven't touched Urusei Yatsura.

Is there a BD release? Or is it worth hunting down older releases?

The LRE DVD rips are really shitty, definitely go for the BDs.

The Big O is such a weird and interesting show.

It's a shame that the rushed non-ending of the first season screwed up the rest of the series plot-wise. There are so many things that they hint at that never get fully resolved, and so many other things that come out of nowhere without any explanation.

>Watched Golden Boy last summer
>Still manages to be one of the funniest, but also sexiest shows I've watched in quite some time. It had a great mix of tone, and a fantastic soundtrack. Spoiled princess a best, followed by the Anime production team girl

Is the manga as bad as I've heard? People have told me that after the first volume or two it nosedives.

Yes it is, adapted into english but the animation is very japanese.

Those That Hunt Elves, Escaflowne, Mushrambo (Shinzo), Zoids.

Latest old-school things I actually finished were the first two seasons of Initial-D.
I want to keep going, but the only forms of the 3rd Stage I can find are a movie, and it really doesn't work for me in such a long format. Additionally, i rarely have the desire to sit through an entire film.

>Escaflowne
You ever start a show, and stop like half way in, and you're not even really sure why, but you totally forget you were watching it, until something like this happens and then you remember you were in the middle of a show?
I remember enjoying it to; idk why I stopped.

Armitage III, IRIA, and 90's hentai , and now im on Tank Police

Those who Hunt Elves.

...

sun revolves around the earth prove me wrong

My negers

Movie 1 and 2 are essential, it's up to you if you wanna fuck with the TV series and second OVA though. I think those are in a separate timeline or something.

I'm just over halfway through Zeta Gundam. Jerid is a cunt and every episode I hope Katz dies.

...

Ideon.

Hakugei Densetsu. Good old poorly lit 90s sci-fi.

I'm a few episodes into Violinist of Hamelin.

The show's tendency to alternate between picture drama levels of non-animation and brief explosions of fluid animation is certainly an experience.

I really liked the German Intro version.
youtube.com/watch?v=pt_xUyJca-s

>Cardcaptors

...

Tokimeki Tonight. It's a shame nobody ever talks about this show, it's hilarious.

It's on my backlog after I finish Cat's Eye.

I met an old dude that learned Japanese to watch this show when I was in high school. Forgot all about it until now, weird.

>downloading anime
what it is? year 2000?

>EG literally never released the batch
What the fuck is taking so long?

Only Dezaki I've ever dropped. You'd think an one eyed man voiced by Akio Otsuka could carry a show by himself but aside from him everything else was pretty shit and didn't really make sense.

Touch

>start getting to the point where the only things left are giant robo and mecha

>giant robo isn't mecha

Giant robo and mecha are 2 different genres, friend. How new to anime are you?

Giant Robo is named after the giant robot in the plot and every episode ends with a giant robot fight
It's also directed by Imagawa, please tell me how is it not a mecha anime

Not Giant Robo the show, giant robo and mecha are different genres.

You're making shit up

Should I watch shadow skill again, I only remember the ginger musclegirl and some dude with a huge ass boomerang

...

giant robo are usually comparable to "saturday cartoon" feeling with a big robot and usually monster of the week. shit like mazinger, kyoshin gorg, and getter robo.
gundam is what made mecha popular, they are 2 different kinds of show.

You mean super robot?
That's still mecha anime

it's making the definition more specific, more of a sub genre. like saying moe->CGDCT

The sub-genres would be Super Robot and Real Robot, are you an ESL?
Please just stop posting.

I watched Wings of Honneamise yesterday
I liked it overall, the worldbuilding was great.
But the end felt a bit abrupt, and the soundtrack is really weird
Like a toddler playing with an old synthesizer

Come on, the soundtrack is amazing.

>ginguiser robots are the same as gundam mobile suits

Ginguiser is a super robot show, most of Gundam is real robot.
You're the one pretending to be obtsue, ESL-kun.

My phrasing is a bit off
It wasn't meant as criticism, because it fits the style of the movie really good
I still find it "weird", for the lack of a better word

>gundam
>real robot
Find one person on Earth that says "real robot" instead of mecha for Gundam. What are you even arguing?

Ginguiser is mecha too you fucking idiot, mecha is any anime that has a focus on robots.

Are there any channels/IRC bots that specialize in oldschool movies and shows?

Jesus you dumb fuck that is an umbrella term. Sorting them by super/giant robo and mecha is just specifying them more accurately.
There are slasher, ghost, zombie, and psychological horror films that all fit under the title "horror film" but specific titles sort them more closely to what is in the movie. This is the same thing.

No you fucking nigger.
>giant robo and mecha
>giant robot (your made up term for super robot shows) AND mecha (what you thought was the term for real robot shows)
Kill yourself.

Lupin III

Currently watching Macross 7. It's pretty fun but the pacing feels incredibly slow and I have many questions that aren't being answered.

The biggest one that is bothering the hell out of me is who the fuck is the flower girl and why the hell is she literally everywhere?

Stick with it user. It can be a slog at times but the high points are amazing.

she just wants to listen to his song

your categories are fine but your umbrella terms are dumb, both not what everyone else uses and not as specific as what everyone else uses.

it's like calling slasher "someone-dies" and psychological just "horror".

After War Gundam X. I've been marathoning every Gundam entry since October 2016, and I've reached it. I'm on episode 30 right now. It's really good, the setting is interesting, the worldbuilding is excellent and the characters are all flawed individuals that grow a lot. The mobile suits are also pretty cool.

I finished watching Excel Saga.
It was rather funny.
Also I really liked the last few episodes.

I should have said super, but super/giant are interchangeable here anyway. Mecha and super robot are 2 different types of show.
>humans and chimps are both under mammals->primates
>YEAH BUT THEY ARE MAMMALS
>actually to specify further they are classified under the family hominidae whi-
>YEAH BUT THEY ARE BOTH MAMMALS
>yes but to specif-
>WOW ARE YOU SAYING HUMANS AREN'T MAMMALS?
