Howdy Sup Forums, I would like to gain an understanding of the chilean government under Augusto Pinochet. How was the government ran? Economics? Military? Foreign policy? Was it conservative, socialist, nationalist, etc? Simply curious, any info would be appreciated. Also some literature or books on both the man and his government would be appreciated as well. Thanks.

Me too actually, you can read the shit on wiki and so, but I'd rather hear some info from somebody, who lives there.

>you can read the shit on wiki

(((Wikipedia))) is absolute fucking garbage unless you're looking up things you already have some knowledge on. I've lost count how many times I've clicked the (((sources))) only to be met with a 404. Pure trash.

I am pretty young to have experienced the government itself. I was 6 years old when pinochet left the government. However on the ideological side of things pinochet regimen was very protective in terms of propaganda and information. Communism and communist afiliation of any sort was prohibited and prosecuted during his government. Internment camps were put in place and political prisoners were subjected to severe interrogation. I personally feel that his regime was too lenient though. When Pinochet left the government there were socialist and communist driven institutions ready to take power. In my country the commies run the media and the academia.

That's pretty damn interesting, appreciate it man. How would you classify the his government ideologically? I've heard things ranging from fascist to libertarian nationalist to state capitalist, not sure what's what. Do you have any idea?

Nowadays the propaganda machine is so powerful that saying that you support the military regime is very, very frowned upon. Even "right wingers" (cuckservatives) here do not admit they support pinochet. On the other hand Allende's government (the socialist traitor that almost destroyed my country) is seen as an idealistic government that had progressive ideas. Total nonsense. Commies are good at spinning shit up to serve their purposes.

It was great.

Literally zero crime

Yeah, Wikipedia is okay for basic stuff like the rules of baseball or something simple. But if you want to get into politics, it turns into (((Wikipedia))).

In terms of economy the government carried out a bunch o economical experiments. The idea was to show that a government can "recover" from a socialist economy using neoliberal theory. The basis of the economy was brought upon by the theories of professor Milton Friedman and ultimately his theories were applied in Chile. If I had to define his regime in ideological terms I would choose civic nationalism to do so. Ethnic subjects were not applied in his government due to the fact that as a country we have many different ethnicities. However, Pinochet's inmigration law was very harsh on countries that were not developed (shitholes)

Why do you faggots always come here and ask questions like this on Sup Forums? Read a book, you stupid nigger. It's like you're afraid that if you read an actual history book you'll realize that the people you worship were fucking psychopaths, so you just want your nice, censored fairy tale story where Hitler and Pinochet and Franco were all nice guys who gave candy to children and helped old ladies across the street

That was a stupid and pointless rant, and you're wrong. I specifically asked for books on the subject in the OP. I just want a basic primer to guage my interest and give me some info while I look for books on the subject. Nice and easy. Thank you for playing faggot.

then reccomend a book you stupid fuckin nigger

also
discussion on ,a certain regime shouldnt be on pol? What do you want here?BLACKED threads you faggot?

Interesting, I've read capitalism and freedom by Milton Friedman, good book but it's odd coming to terms with the idea of very liberal economic theory in a brutal, nationalist dictatorship. Pretty cool stuff, this is why I find his government so interesting.

That's what happens when you throw commies from helicopters, tends to make the rabble more timid.

In cultural terms. Pinochet's regime left a huge cultural gap in the country because Pinochet called for a cultural shutdown, where free speech went downhill. This gap increased the lack of cultural identity that stills shakes today's society.

Allende was an asshole, but also was Pinochet.

Well Franco wasn't a nice guy but he certainly was better than the republic
Not as good as based Miguel Primo de Rivera tho. What a legend.

pinchet migth had killed a lot of commies
but no one can negate that he helped the country
and now because we copy everything from the first world countrys , the commies are overdriving again and you cannot say his name or even have an political opinion whit out being called an idiot bigot facist

They had a couple of issues, the war against communism was the war against the working class, fully identified as such to a complete level, therefore they halted the countries productivity, second high government officials that also participated in the government, were also economical pillars as this country doesn't has that much people and elites tend to group themselves around power.

He killed that people too, or got them exiled to europe, along with their money.

>I personally feel that his regime was too lenient though

He himself said it was a dictablanda.

Hello neighbour.
Same thing happens here, if you openly say you support the military regimes we had, you will get called a genocide, and will have lots of troubles at any social circle. There has been instances of history teachers fired over the fact they acknowledge Videla as an ex-president when teaching.
Funny thing the military regime was called to action by the president at the time because the communists were planting bombs on public buildings everywhere.
In most countries that would be called terrorism, but here they are idolized and treated as war heroes.

>DAAAAAAAAAAAA, WAS PENISCHET A CONSERVAKIKE
