Because in Japan almost everyone is autistic
because you didn't read the manga?
she's clearly diagnosed with personality disorders, haven't watched the anime
Watch more anime.
Nips aren't into meme psychology.
Is this the series from which the images about a girl growing up stem from?
(from top->bottom)
first panel: happy, JS imouto saying that she loves her brother
second panel: neutrally looking JC imouto merely acknowledging her brother
third panel: disgusted looking JK imouto saying that her brother is disgusting
why yes it is
Because autism is a modern phenomena in the west.
Its not quite a thing in the East because the difference in perception.
Imagine you being raised by the wolves from early birth and imagine seeing a wolf for first time as an adult.
Thats the difference. Autism is a spectrum that has heavy overlap with introversion. Japan and Asian cultures are introverted. "Your child has autism if he/she doesn't look you in the eye" Well thats the norm in Asian culture. "Your child has autism if they don't speak much" Again, another within normative behavior in Asian culture. "Your child is smart and has social issues therefore autism" Once again, completely within normal bounds in Asian culture.
If you're in the west and your child doesn't look you in the eye, you child doesn't socialize well, your child doesn't talk much, your child is smart, then its an abnormal thing.
Because the only autistic one here is you.
Autism is a buzzword that means nothing on this site
>"Your child has autism if he/she doesn't look you in the eye" Well thats the norm in Asian culture. that's Sup Forums autism.
actual autism is a serious and real disease of your "mirror neurons", you are basically PHISICALLY handicapped in feeling empathy
this is too real
incidentally, that's your age ;-)
Autism is more a developmental disorder. All the things I highlighted are signs of autism or introversion or both. Physical handicap can happen due to mental disorder and do happen often.
>>Autism is more a developmental disorder.
it's genetic.
you are born autist.
your brain has some fried places.
t. my mom works in psychology
Because autism is not real
Can it be developed later in life?
Tossing around psychological diagnosis is more of a western thing. These days anyone that acts "weird" (an expected result of being raised by internet and video games) and has trouble socializing is considered autistic by the mental health community.
Myself included
Human brain is malleable, so it might be possible to reflect autism-like changes if there's some trauma event or some cause.
However signs of autism are easily detectable in children even as young as 1 year old. They can bring these developmental deficiency by teaching how to handle certain types of situations. Otherwise, if you didn't really have a good guide and you're autistic, you either have to self-learn or develop your own method of dealing with the inconsistencies.
My dad is autism btw
Only with sonic
How does Autism become a common phenomena these days?
I think nobody ever talk about this decade ago.
All nips are autistic, normal is out of ordinary,
Sonic Adventure was released 16 years ago, ,any of the kids who grew up playing it and watching Sonic X on 4Kids are already legal.
No matter what those antivaccers/chemtrails nutjobs tell you the answer is no.
Promulgation of the internet to the wider public and the availability of more widespread discussion forums.
Autism has been debated on the internet since the beginning of newsgroups. If you google search, you'll find lots of 10+ year old newsgroup discussions on every generic topic that you can think of. Yes, even the complaints about "moe anime" and how its killing the anime.
>How does Autism become a common phenomena these days?
>
>I think nobody ever talk about this decade ago.
because people with brains close to autism and asperger tend to work close (see: IT world) and they breed
this is the silicon valley
Since gays and trans are no longer considered mental diseases they have to double down on the only one left that is more widespread to get attention and funding
that is shamfur dispray.
>trans are no longer considered mental diseases
trans still is
in fact the "cure" today is surgery
thank God, they all kill themselves anyway
those are signs of autism but only those with 'high-functioning autism' get around to making shitty posts on the internet
some are literal drooling retards in wheelchairs who need the attention of a personal caretaker 24/7
No pretty sure it was removed from the latest revision of the DSM
If we're allowed to treat this as a Relife thread, I'm re-reading it right now and holy fucking shit, I feel so fucking stupid for not having seen the major plot twist on subject 1 coming because it is so ridiculously obvious and so intentionally set up.
When it happened I thought people were just bullshitting that they saw it coming from the first arc but I believe it now, I was so fucking blind for being surprised by it.
Like goddamn I am fucking retarded.
>I feel so fucking stupid for not having seen the major plot twist on subject 1 coming
wow.
wow.
wow.
>Why fishes don't mention water?
Never seen it, what twist?
Gender dysphoria is the mental disorder in the DSM, being transgendered isn't
>some are literal drooling retards in wheelchairs who need the attention of a personal caretaker 24/7
That sounds more like mental retardation or schizophrenia
Whats the difference.
spoiler:
the girl in op is subject 1
>Because autism is a modern phenomena in the west.
Wrong. It's been a thing for a lot of human history, all over the world. The only thing that's recent about it is people coming to recognise and understand it.
DSM mental disorders list is more of a guidline than anything else. If you're dysfunctional you can get on or a few disorders from the list. It might be the best thing we have to die to classify mental disorders, but it's pretty meh
The thing is, there's nothing to recognise, it's just that today we decided to call it a disorder, but I wouldn't say it really is
Why? Do you think it just doesn't exist at all, or that it exists but isn't a disorder?
you could not be more wrong
Define "disorder".
Also, what do mean by "it can't be recognized"?
Gender Dysphoria is essentially being uncomfortable with your sex/gender.
Being transgendered is when you actually decide to transition, change your pro-nouns, lifestyle and whatnot.
Not everyone with Gender Dysphoria chooses to transition and become trans, most people don't, but if diagnosed, transitioning is currently the preferred treatment by most of the psychiatric community. And not everyone who's transgendered actually has gender dysphoria, though this is pretty rare in the west. Some people don't feel uncomfortable with their gender, but just prefer another, though this is somewhat controversial within the trans community, some people feel like you're not legitimately trans if you don't experience dysphoria. In places like the middle east and south east asia you see a lot of people without dysphoria go through sex change operations and gender transitions for very different reasons.
Psychiatry is a pseudo science.
>Also, what do mean by "it can't be recognized"?
he can't because he has autism
>Psychiatry is a pseudo science.
it is not an exact science like math,
but it uses the scientific method therefore it's science.
It's not as bad as it used to be, but admitting you have something "wrong" with you in Japan still carries a certain degree of cultural stigma, especially when it comes to parents not wanting their children to be diagnosed. Probably a lot of adults with unnoticed disorders for that reason.
I get it now
I also find hilarious that a "ur not a true tranny" thing exists within the community
Define "science" and then contrast it with "pseudoscience". Show examples applicable to psychiatry that qualify as pseudoscience, then prove that these examples make up the vast majority of psychiatric activity.
No true Scotsman exists pretty much everywhere.
Look up "Gold Star lesbians" for a laugh.
>she's clearly diagnosed with personality disorders
No she's not, was a personality disorder even mentioned at some point? I don't think it ever was, she's just socially awkward
I was hoping there was going to be a real twist, but it was so obvious.
Oh, yes, I agree with you in that. It's as much as a science as sociology and other meme studies are.
It is not my job to educate you.
>it is not an exact science like math
Literally nothing is an exact science like math is an exact science.
Math is based on pure logic, it is fundamental. Every other branch of science is based on observation and conjecture, and therefore limited by our means of observation, which can never be perfect. We observe the function of the world, develop theories, and try and confirm them. As our ability to observe improves we learn that we were wrong about some things and reformulate our theories. Things that were thought to be fact are later found to be false, and we'll never know for sure if our current facts are true, we just accept them as true if there's sufficient evidence until they get proven wrong.
None were ever mentioned, but given just how socially awkward she is, I'd say it's a fair bet she does have a disorder of some kind.
>Every other branch of science is based on observation and conjecture,
Wrong. Many other sciences use a priori logic instead of empiric observation too.
Zeta does Kamille is a literal autist
I have an engineering degree, you didn't have to waste time writing that.
for clueless anons wondering by the way,
an example of pseudo-science would be Economics.
I remember kyon saying that haruhi was autistic.
We ReLIFE now?
I reckon they're gonna retain their memories or meet each other after the experiment is up and memories are gonna come flooding back all gay-like.
Never mentioned. She says she's a tard because she moved a lot when she was growing up, so she never bothered to make friends and just kept to herself.
Humans get rusty when they don't get much social interaction. She ended up having trouble socialising, and carried that problem into adulthood, and back into her ReLIFE. Which is why her first ReLIFE was shit.
I'm 90% sure this is what happened because I'm just as socially disabled as she is.
>Why? Do you think it just doesn't exist at all, or that it exists but isn't a disorder?
Both. Mental disorders are, I'm really sorry for using the term, a social construct. In a western society being too aggressive or having low social skills might be such a hindrance that we start considering it a disorder, but in reality that's just some individual variability in action. Sure, if you drool a lot and can't take care ofyourself, that's definitely a problem, but that's a symptom not a disorder itself.
Your brain neural structure has placticity, it can change over time. The more you use a part of your brain, the bigger it gets. I was bad at recongising faces until I started socializing more, for instance.
>Define "disorder".
It's a hard thing to do even for professionals, because it's a prett y wishy washy word, but generally if it makes you socially disfunctional or brings you a lot of mental suffering, it is considered a disorder. As you can see, half the definition is focused on society.
>Also, what do mean by "it can't be recognized"?
I don't know, I've never even wrote those word. I said "there's nothing to recognize" because it's not some kind of an objective problem.
I think you're remembering wrong. He's said a lot of things about Haruhi, but autistic isn't one of them.
>I was bad at recongising faces until I started socializing more, for instance.
no you don't understand.
autists can't tell a face from a bottle or a fridge.
it's not just "oh that's kim kardashian",
it more like "is that a human or a chair"
I said modern phenomena, not that it didn't exist. The modern phenomena of having a large autism population is due to advances in medical science.
You are not even talking about autism, you mistake autistic behaviour for autism even so they are different illnesses
And? That's a;most normal for boys. Being really good with expressed emotions is more of a girl thing. I wouldn't be surprised if it were possible to develop an underdeveloped facial interpretation region in a brain.
>You are not even talking about autism, you mistake autistic behaviour for autism even so they are different illnesses
Autistic behavior is not an illness. And neither is autism, desu, it's a disorder.
How disappointing.
>an example of pseudo-science would be Economics.
Why? Do you think that it's inherently impossible to study macro- or microeconomics using the scientific method?
>>And? That's a;most normal for boys.
normal boys can't tell a human from a chair?
are you high?
It's fair to assume that, but the other guy said she was 'clearly diagnosed with it', which is not true at all.
I can see it ending with Arata going to get his memory erased, or whatever way they'll do that and Hishiro finally figuring out that he's part of ReLIFE too, but when she gets there he already doesn't remember her ;-;
The time I start to understand what's the magnitude of actual autism, is that when I been to doctor's place and condust a test sheet about it and only scored 1/2 the score necessary to be considered autism
>Mental disorders are, I'm really sorry for using the term, a social construct. In a western society being too aggressive or having low social skills might be such a hindrance that we start considering it a disorder, but in reality that's just some individual variability in action.
No. When it gets to the point of being problematic, that's beyond the realm of "individual variability" and into "disorder" territory.
The large autism population is unrelated to advances in medical science. Us knowing that they're autistic and not demon-possessed or "slow" or whatever else is due to advances in medical science.
>>an example of pseudo-science would be Economics.
>Why? Do you think that it's inherently impossible to study macro- or microeconomics using the scientific method?
Any new and old economic "theory" is formulated without any real world testing or even looking at historical data
they are all "I think it works like this because I can make up this variable"
(look at the 2000s trying to make work into a commodity and how it failed)
it's much more similar to a political manifesto.
It's no coincidence that Marx's Kapital was pretty much an economic book
>Some people don't feel uncomfortable with their gender, but just prefer another
so all the people who talk about traps/wanting to be a little girl/etc?
I hope the next few ReLife chapters go a bit faster
>tfw you're a neet like ohga's brother
Kek.
He ain't wrong. I had a huge crush on this girl all throughout highschool, it was only on the last day she told me she was a chair.
I can still remember her oak scent, her slender arms, her four legs.
people having babies later in life, 3d whores turn into toxic waste pits quite quickly.
>large autism population unrelated to advances in medical science
Advances in medical science led to the coinage of the term and the defining of the term Autism in the first place.
How is modern science unrelated? Literally modern science created the definition and the word. You're arguing that even without modern science autism would exist. Something that's completely baseless. Autism as an idea doesn't exist in nature, it exist out of creation of man through series of steps that led to modern medical science.

now I see how climate change deniers think.
Nah, it was definitely in the film, in his own head.
You know what "almost" means, don't you? Boys are bad at interpreting faces in general.
Again, and? That's a test for your personal quirks being socially debilitating. That's exactly the reason why you can't just use DSM definition of autism by itself. When it's presented lightly, it's normal, if the trait is overwhelming AND you haven't find a way to deal with it, it would be considered a disorder.
>No. When it gets to the point of being problematic, that's beyond the realm of "individual variability" and into "disorder" territory.
And who decides what's problematic and what's not? A lot of mental problems are context-dependent. Having a mental disorder is not the same as having diabetes. Sure, drooling and being unable to care for yourself is almost universally a bad thing, but being overly aggressive might be helpful in some contexts and be a problem in others. Same with people who are bad at recognising or interpreting faces. It's just that we have no use for them in most cases and, again, in most cases don't exactly know how to deal with them.
Did stab wounds exist before people came up with a word and definition for that?
>Pic related was obviously autistic.
No she isn't, are you retarded?
>posting the edit
Superior edit. Triggers the fuck out of me by it not using commata, though.
that's an edit itself you mong
This.
Autism spectrum is so wide, almost anyone could fall under certain attributes of it. The kind of people you think about that work in the anime industry, just happen to be full blown under every damn one of them.
You're confused.
Stab wound exist in certain condition. Understanding of the the concept of stabbing and the concept of wounding and a combination of the two.
If these concepts don't exist, there is no stab wound.
Let me give you another example. If ownership and concept of property wasn't a thing, there would be no property rights. There would be no property at all. Yes a piece of building might be there, a piece of cloth, a piece of food, a piece of gold, etc. But since the concept of property and ownership doesn't exist. There would be no property. There would be no theft if someone took something.
Nope, recalling those questions, the test is more like can you live independently in the society
...
>Advances in medical science led to the coinage of the term and the defining of the term Autism in the first place.
It exists whether we have a definition for it or not.
Think of it this way: once upon a time, we didn't understand the concept of broken bones. Sometimes people would hurt their arms or legs, and they'd bend in places that they normally shouldn't. After a while, we worked out that there's these hard bits in our bodies under the soft bits, and that they can get broken.
It does not exist because we defined it, it exists anyway and we recognised enough common patterns to define it.
When in the film? Do you have a rough time it would be, or "the scene where..."?
>so all the people who talk about traps/wanting to be a little girl/etc?
More or less, yes. These people generally don't transition though, but that's the general idea.
You see it more with people who are very in with the whole LGBT+ scene, really live and breath that community. For anyone else gender-transitioning is a hugely difficult and inconvenient thing that's mostly going to make your life a hell of a lot harder.
Do animals commit incest? According to you, they inherently can't, just because they can't have an understanding of their act and a concept of their act.
What if they later on acquired the concept and understanding? Would they have committed incest previously?
Also, theft is a bad example, because it is an act that is defined by both by a mental component and a material component, which incest or having autism both are not, since for them it's sufficient to fulfill the material component.
>autism
another empty meme to repeat and mention over and over and over.
What you're arguing at the base is existence of phenomena that is independent of human cognition.
Literally nothing in the world is like this. Platonism is a thing thats been rejected by most modern intellectuals as a relic of the past.
What you're doing is basically Presentism in historical context. Basically confusing modern understanding of the world with that of ancient understanding of the world. Pre-modern human understanding of the nature of illness and mental health is rudimentary at best and entirely wrong at worst. History of mental health in pre-modern world is at the wrong end of it. There is no clear understanding of what causes genetic deficiencies in pre-modern world. There is no clear understanding of what causes mental development issues. There is not even basic understanding of what a mental state of the human mind is. During the enlightenment period, there was some studies done but its too basic to be useful for modern science. Modern psychology and biology took an entirely different direction with the understanding of genetics and psychology.
Animals can't commit incest. We humans can claim they committed incest. They also can't commit murder, or rape or whatever human concepts we can invent. Animals, as far as we can understand about them, do not have a clear language or conceptual understanding of abstract familial relations or a judicial system that defines what is right or wrong.
>Animals can't commit incest. We humans can claim they committed incest. They also can't commit murder, or rape or whatever human concepts we can invent. then why are prisons full of black people?
All men are created equal except with clear medically defining faults (the mentally ill). Thus under the law, all men are charged equally (with the exception of mentally ill.
