I don't understand the pantsu thing. If I click on "Torrent File" for what I'm trying to download, it takes me to anicache and says "not found". If I click "Download!" for the magnet, I get pic related.

Would someone mind explaining this to me? Is it *supposed* to not be working? Why is everything listed as having 0 seeders, leechers, and downloads?

And after he was shooed away he keep going in the offtopic channel

2.2.1; kill yourself.

I'm not talking about it being the botnet user, it has random issue with magnet links.Try google about it before killing yourself for education.

Then, what would you have me use? I've spent a great many years with my dear friend 2.2.1.

I love how he keeps going on Sup Forums and shilling for his Fakku site even though everyone there has a better resources to access what he is selling

Looks like the business isn't doing much good now

using 2.2.1 and I don't have that problem

I can download normally

Qbittorrent.I abandoned it for years now after so many magnet link failures.

I get the impression that you're tricking me, and that the other guy is telling the truth, and that I should probably just play with my settings

but I don't know what to do; so, in the way of Lambchop, if not, I'll just die

utorrent 2.2.1 is recommended for torrenting.

>pastebin.com/1GYx5pyJ
What the heck are "siders"? Is that meant to be be "seeders" or "subbers" or?

Utorrent 2.2.1 and before have known, exploitable security vulnerabilities. I would strongly recommend against using it on any computer with an internet connection

>known, exploitable security vulnerabilities
tin foil hat shit. elaborate or quit pretending.

That is exactly why I use it. So, how would you explain or help me fix the apparent problems in my original post? I can't make heads or tails of it.

utorrent 2.2.1 is recommended for torrenting.

Прошу бана, фагготы.

>no pubes version

Kys yourself

Лобковые волосы не нужны, лобковолособлядь - не человек.

My mistake, I was thinking of utorrent 2.0.3.
I'd still recommend against running anything network-facing program that's that old, but there aren't any specific known vulnerabilities.

>disclosing end of life/unsupported torrent client vulnerabilities
>not keeping the zero day and rekt the connected peers

>I'd still recommend against running anything network-facing program that's that old, but there aren't any specific known vulnerabilities.
That is literally the specific reason why people use it. Everything you've said and can say has, really, been analyzed to death. You can look it up.

>That is literally the specific reason why people use it.
I don't understand why. It's close-source and unsupported by the developers, so it's a completely unmaintained black box. It MIGHT be safe, but there's no way to actually know.

>Everything you've said and can say has, really, been analyzed to death. You can look it up.
I've only seen this mentioned on Sup Forums, and Sup Forums is full of morons. Unfortunately, I've yet to hear any discussion of old utorrent versions from anyone actually credible.

>yet to hear any discussion of old utorrent versions from anyone actually credible
You're posting this statement (and the previous ones) on an anonymous board. Your post means nothing to anyone who reads it if they use that logic.

It'd be hard to tell if a new vulnerability pops up, though.

I'm really not sure where this zealotry of sticking with old, proprietary software comes from. Especially since the company responsible hasn't had the greatest track record (granted, post 2.2.1, but my point still stands).

It doesn't really make sense to me.

>You're posting this statement (and the previous ones) on an anonymous board. Your post means nothing to anyone who reads it if they use that logic.
I think you may have misunderstood me.

I meant I'd like to read an article or blog post by someone actually knowledgeable about bittorrent, discussing what kinds of risks are involved with older clients like 2.2.1. However, I'm yet to find an article like that.

For myself, it's simply "if it isn't broken, don't fix it". If something new comes along which proves itself to be better, or a vulnerability in 2.2.1 allows someone to make my external emit poison, or whatever, I'll gladly switch. But nobody's given any evidence of anything better or anything worse. It's simply a standard; if you don't have and utilize one, you can't end up with anything distinctly better or worse. When there is something distinctively better, I'll switch over; and that program will likely become the new standard, and the same arguments will be held about its nature.

Check if your magnet associations are correct and also try with utorrent 3.1.3 if you have the same problem

>I meant I'd like to read an article or blog post by someone actually knowledgeable about bittorrent, discussing what kinds of risks are involved with older clients like 2.2.1. However, I'm yet to find an article like that.
I'll agree with you on those points. As far as I know, as you've said, there isn't any particularly reputable post on the topic which gives views one way or another. To me, the significant factor is that I'm certainly afraid of all the vulnerability potentials and such of 2.2.1, but I don't have any way of comparing its security to that of *any* other randomly selected major program which I may or may not have installed; so, I can't feel more afraid of it than I ought to be of using any thing.

There's nothing we can really do, you know, beyond wait for the idea of the article to come about and for it to be written. Maybe someone can pester a trusted author in the community enough to make them write it, but it's still mindless waiting.

So I've been torrenting for years with bittorrent without a VPN and don't know any of these technical nerd shit.

Is it still safe to torrent right now? All the big sites are taken down. People are getting arrested left and right. Is utorrent better than bittorrent? This is a very dark and confusing timeline

>Is it still safe to torrent right now?
How safe it is depends on your country.
In Australia you can download anything pretty much and never get any issues.
>People are getting arrested left and right
Only the admins of big trackers like kickass not weebshit.
>Is utorrent better than bittorrent
μTorrent 2.2.1 is largely preferred by us privatetrackerfags due to seeding reliability when handling large numbers of torrents on windows. The only other largely used torrent client for windows is qbit (newest) but qbitstalled is a meme for a reason (client fucking up).

The best two torrent clients in existence are for linux of which I enjoy rutorrent/rtorrent the most, it has a lot of features that no windows client has.

I'm in the US. Do you think torrenting video editing software and photoshop is very risky?

>If something new comes along which proves [...] a vulnerability in 2.2.1
How?
There's no one (that would disclose their results, anyway) looking for vulnerabilities in 2.2.1. It's closed-source, so no-one in the community can check it, and the original developer doesn't care about it anymore.

>It's simply a standard
AFAICT, it doesn't even seem to be all that common anymore.

>I don't have any way of comparing its security to that of *any* other randomly selected major program which I may or may not have installed
For me, the key point is whether there's someone out there who's looking for bugs and vulnerabilities. Propitiatory software supported by a company will get bugfixes, and open source stuff with a living community has many eyes. With abandoned software, you're really on your own.

>If something new comes along which proves [...] a vulnerability in 2.2.1
Did you just stop reading my post there, and reply? Or is your reading comprehension that poor?

>In Australia you can download
Don't think so

try removing utorrent for the magnet protocol in the list and reclick on the magnet icon

>Is it still safe to torrent right now?
Sort of.
There are two real risks with torrenting: guaranteeing what your downloading is legitimate, and public viability.
The first is really simple - if you download an executable (so a game or a program), it's very difficult to tell if what you've downloaded contains a virus or not. Movies and music and so on are fine, (because it's almost impossible for them to be malicious), but I'm paranoid and stay away from programs.
Secondly, the bittorent protocol implies that everything you download is publicly visible. So if a copyright holder gets a bee in their bonnet, they can try and figure out who you are. However, this doesn't happen much, and is only really a risk if you're downloading something that both very popular, and owned by someone exceptionally litigious. Downloading a big-budget movie on release day probably isn't wise, but no-one is ever going to care if you start hoarding cooking e-books.

>All the big sites are taken down.
That's just the cycle of life. Wait a while, and new people will try their hand at running a torrent search site. Some of them might even not fuck it up.

>Is utorrent better than bittorrent?
They're owned by the same people, and (from what I understand) the latest versions are basically identical.

>clients
As you can tell, I disagree with about utorrent 2.2.1. This argument isn't going to be settled any time soon.
Personally, I'm running Deluge. It can take a bit of setting up, but it''s very good at client-server setups, where you download on a server that runs 24/7 and control it from a laptop or something. I also like Transmission, which lacks some features but "just works".

>In Australia you can download anything

You see here is the issue, our ISP's and governments have decided that because we are a nation of convicts, we are naturally going to steal. So literally no one ever gets chastised for pirating, however on the flip side, our upload speeds are so poor that we are forever banished to public trackers or forced to donate money to have a ratio that isn't 0.005

>Horriblesubs.info
>Torrent tracker, fansab group that quickly / qualitatively makes its English subtitles as part of rip video 480p 720p 1080p. Subtitles are disabled.

This is wrong. Just rewrite it and say it's just Crunchyroll rips. Subs aren't part of the video either.

The entire 'guide' is filled with grammatical and factual errors, no-one is dying for this info, take a minute and make it better

AB is okay because of their yen system. I've got a good (decent) ratio despite all my individual torrents being at 0.3ish.

>Did you just stop reading my post there, and reply?
No, I kludged my post.
Anyway, the point I was trying to make was that, without support, it's very hard to know if 2.2.1 really is safe. Waiting to see if any vulnerabilities become publicly known may not be enough, because you don't know that there's anyone out there while make them public in the first place.

so which torrent device should I use then? And also do I have to pay for VPN to be safe? Will NASA go after me for downloading Sony Pro Vegas/Photoshop CS6?

>so which torrent device should I use then?
Try a handful and see which you like the most.

>And also do I have to pay for VPN to be safe?
No. Don't be an idiot and you'll be fine.

>Will NASA go after me for downloading Sony Pro Vegas/Photoshop CS6?
No, but you should be careful that you're not getting a virus.

Deluge or qbit torrent

>In Australia you can download anything pretty much and never get any issues.

DON'T JINX IT

I'd sign up to cgpeers, it's the ratio free tracker that everyone on /ic/ uses but with photoshop you can dl the trial off adobe's official website and crack it with PainteR's amtemu maks sure you don't download a virus by checking it against the SHA-1 in reddit.com/r/Piracy/comments/5b9hxx/amtemu_win_v092_mac_v081_updated_for_adobe_cc_2017
There's also an xforce keygen (I believe this team is basically located on cgpeers) and Universal Patcher 2.0 but I am too tired to discuss the merits of each but all work on the trial - no torrenting.

I don't see any means of removing anything from the list/drop-down. I've had it as Always Ask, with uTorrent as the default, if that's what you mean - so I've never had uTorrent automatically open magnets.

I'm scared user

Somehow, switching on-and-off of it in preferences worked. Don't know how, but I'll accept it. Thank you for the help, at least, guy.

>mfw all of this is streaming shit
Fucking normalfags, although I'm happy to see that they can't into proper torrent sites.

Sage because this thread deserves it.

I got memed into Qbit, but don't know shit about security protocols or anything related. What makes it so popular?

Use bittorrent, it just werks.

protocols are often broken in browsers. you are lucky because you have a nice gui in firefox where you can remove and readd a program for a given uri protocol, in chrome you have to manually edit a config file.. glad it worked in the end

I'm going to mindlessly parrot "chrome is botnet" at you.

nice meme

nyaa.pantsu is certified cartel-free.

If nyaa.pantsu is now allowing uploads and is a complete replacement and not just an archive what's the point of keeping the name "nyaa"? It's too long to type nyaa.pantsu.cat, might as well just forget nyaa and call it pantsu.cat or something.

>it's too long to type

Have you never heard of bookmarks nigger?

is there a reason the site's in favelanese

I have to invert it now to keep the Renge.
