Anime's bad, LN's are good. Arc 3 was made in the mindset that season 2 wouldn't be plausible, and they cut out too many details. In addition they ended Arc 3 on a happy note, when it could have made its mark in anime history by going through with the original ending and also entice readers to buy the novels even more.

I liked it. The anime direction was pretty good and the concept of the whole thing is nice too. Like, what's the connection between Subaru and Satella? What does she wants from Subaru? Does it have something to do with his obsession over Emilia? Is everything he's done in Satella's plan from the beginning?
I don't give a fuck about the waifu wars or the shipping, but it's something that's interesting and not only "fun" like most anime.

10 seconds after the anime happy ending, Subaru mentions polygamy between him, Rem and Emilia. Emilia goes "Who's Rem"

Another scene pops up which shows what happened. Rem and Crusch as well as many other wounded soldiers were headed back to the capital. A wagon suddenly exploded and creates a mist of blood. They try to ram the fuck but Rem knew whats up and (along with Crusch) jumped the fuck out of there. Much to their shock and horror, the thing that caused all that was the Archbishop of Greed Regulus Corneas, who just so happens to be the mightiest Archbishop. Then another Archbishop appeared, Gluttony (Ley Batenkaitos). It was later discovered the Ley had "eaten" Rem's memories as well as her existence causing her to fall under some magical comatose state.
I don't know much about what happens after but when Subaru sees Rem I think he slits his throat

It happend before that, Rem and Crusch were already eaten, the anime should have ended with a "who's Rem?", and then with Subaru stabbing his neckwhen he finds Rem
But it wouldn't have made sense since they cut a lot of inner monolouge and Rem/Subaru development, like how he became emotionally dependant on her when he was mindbroken and the confession after the WW battle

It did one of the main parts of a long story, smaller plot arcs all being relevant to the overarching plotline, masterfully. Many anime totally fail in this regard by fucking up arc pacing or writing arcs that are totally and utterly irrelevant to the overarching plotline (looking at you naruto). Most anime are really only one arc, and that's ok, but RE:Zero had me very, very engaged in both the distinct arcs and the overarching plot that slowly developed during each arc at a fairly constant pace. The usage of the slowly developing overarching story and always relevant story arcs are what made it pretty darn good despite some adaptation errors (some pretty interesting stuff was omitted that would have only added to the effect described above), and subaru being a 24/7 spaghetti machine which personally wasn't to my taste, but was basically fine.

It's her development that caused that, probably. To me Emilia is best girl, for one reason. Rem would not have given Subaru the time of day at the beginning of Re Zero. Emilia did.Not literally the time of day, but you get what I mean.

Well, that's a question I suppose you could ask. What would Rem have done if she were in Emilia's place in Arc 1?

I assume she'd probably have done more or less the same thing, except been a bit quicker to pick up on the situation and with less of that psuedo-tsundere shit Emilia was trying to do at the beginning and instead just be more of a bitch.

I wonder if White Fox will cut a bunch more of Rem romance in the inevitable season 2 to keep the romance consistent with how it was shown in the season 1 or faithfully depict Rem romance as how it is in the LN. Either way, Rem romance will no longer be as good as it could have been, which really is a shame. Really makes me wish Emilia didn't exist at all since she's barely contributed anything good to the story anyway.

Why would she be more of a bitch in the first loop? She's potentially cold, but ultimately polite and more or less friendly to people she meets, its literally her job to be that way. After a couple deaths she'd be super wary of him because he literally smells like the people that killed her race and have tried to destroy the capital before and she stopped it.

There are interlude things that are technically not arc 4 that set up some of arc 5 and follow up, like all the carriage stuff from arc 3 or some of the silly stuff after arc 2.

What about arc 5? Is he gonna TL it?

Yeah, he took a bit of a break to catch up on life after arc 4 so only the first interlude is done. Given general trends I'd expect another chapter soon-ish, but I don't really know if he got busy again.

Subaru is basically just an autistic, creepy, basement dwelling neckbeard on the inside who becomes obsessed with the first girl who gives him attention and even when he gets closer to Rem he still holds his obsessive love because reasons beyond his own knowledge.

Actually he becomes obsessed with the first girl to basically check off every fetish he has. It'd be like if your waifu became real and showed up randomly. There's a bit more to it than that, he hates giving things up and he's actually fairly desperate and scared to be alone, but generally his Emilia thing is her checking all his boxes.

The merchant dude ends up beating the shit out of him over that and some other stuff and makes him recognize he's being sort of retarded and that helps a bit.

The thing is that the Rem romance was never added to the anime, besides Rem is still in a magical coma in arc 6, but she takes the spot as his main girl, there is some Emilia character development so it might be more focused about the trials and arc 5 is one big battle
WF should do some OVAs about the side srories and the cut content or season 2 is going to be really akward

Sorta. Obviously he watched/played those a lot, but he would bounce around between hobbies and devote himself to them for awhile before moving on to something else. As such he has a variety of fairly useless skills, like sewing and playing the guitar. He kept in shape as well.

If you had to pick a singular thing he was an otaku for it would probably be astrology.
