How much do you think it has left? What's next for Sorachi?
I really enjoyed the latest arcs, they have really been outstanding and definitely made up for some of the more boring arcs. After this I hope that for his next project Sorachi does a more story-based manga.
Not much. It really pains me that it's gonna end soon. As for Sorachi, he'll probably start working on something completely different. That seems to be the trend.
Joshua Reyes
Well given the manga ends this year not much
Grayson Powell
It's not ending
It's all a ruse
Logan Kelly
>liking the arcs
really? I always figured they were just pretty standard and forgettable. the self contained episodes are the best.
though that prison warden one was pretty damn good. could've sworn it was based off something else.
Jackson Gray
I think that Sorachi has 20-30 chapters left.
John Morales
Or probably Gorilla is trolling (once again)
Nicholas Richardson
I like Gintama but I'm glad that it's ending the way that it is (ostensibly). I think the timing is perfect, I think the buildup and execution so far are perfect. Hopefully Gorilla will keep delivering.
Liam Lopez
I have a question. We all know that Gorilla might end the series this year, but how we will keep the threads alive for the upcoming season ? Reminder that the last season had the best threads and I doesn't want them to die fast, because the manga might be already finished...
Luis Smith
>he thinks gintama is going to end !
also i've only watched the anime but the last season was kinda meh and the one before it wasn't as great as great gintama is
William Richardson
I dunno but I don't expect to be reading it in 2018
Indeed. And of course there a lot of characters who need to come back.
Nicholas Morales
whoa, the manga looks that good?
or did sorachi just improve?
Mason Diaz
He had done the both, user. The finale arc is pure gold.
Liam Collins
MR.RAINDROP FALLIN' AWAY FROM ME NOW
Jaxon Phillips
In the latest chapter out of nowhere Kagura has flashbacks of being the target of racism from Edo citizens. Has this ever actually happened? It seems forced to me.
Justin Adams
We never saw this before, if I'm not mistaken
Michael Perry
Hell, we've never really seen any anti-Amanto prejudice period. If anything in the early chapters the Amanto that were everywhere running things had anti-human prejudice, but then they all mysteriously vanished.
>really? I always figured they were just pretty standard and forgettable. Not him, but ya rly. I started watching the show a mere year ago, and besides some very few special individual eps, the arcs are the thing that I remember and what kept me coming back. Or did your head totally erase the whole Jojo reference arc?
Out of the more serious ones, the 4 Devas was just awesome.
Benjamin Peterson
Gura a cute
Jace White
Why are Gintama threads so comfy ?
Brandon Flores
it seems gorilla forgetting this cutie eventhough she appears in the forshadowing pages with jurocho, hyakka, yagyuu clan, ketsuno sibling and others
Luis Murphy
Does it bother anyone else that in this series Japan, and Edo in particular, is the only place on Earth that matters? Even though the aliens are occupying and invading Earth, other parts of the world seem to either be unaffected or not care. It's like the entire planet is Japan and foreigners don't exist.
Jason Cox
IIRC the explanation is that Edo terminal is the largest so naturally aliens care about it the most
Hunter Gonzalez
This
Christian Ward
The terminal is in Edo. But, yeah, it's kind of weird how we go to space and beyond but see nothing of Earth outside of Japan. Not even human foreign characters, which one would think would be rather common if Japan suddenly became the center of the world due to the Terminal.
Jordan Johnson
are you forgetting Taka-tin?
Nathaniel Gutierrez
He only showed up once, so yeah, it's pretty easy to forget him and the fact that he is literally the ONLY foreigner we have ever seen.
Ethan Flores
Because most of Sup Forums don't give a shit about it or hates Gintama for being overranked on MaL And thanks to casuals who don't like it, the threads of the last season were fucking awesome.
Eli Brooks
Weren't the original Yorozuya made up out of foreigners?
Brayden Scott
Oh yeah, I wonder if the "original" Yorozuya will ever show up again, would be funny.
John Phillips
...
Samuel Nelson
Katoniago is one of the best OPs
Eli Ramirez
> that the last season had the best threads
newfag here but weren't the threads shit ? we only talked about shipping and never made any gintamamemes even tho the show is more memable than jojo
Hunter Rodriguez
I like Kaze no Gotoku, it has an old school feeling
Nicholas Green
They had good discussion and a decent amount of contributors. Also why should we have memes? It's stuff like that that shits up other threads and it's the lack of childish memes that make Gintama threads so good.
Cameron Bailey
There were also a good vibes in those threads, despite the shipfaggotry
Jeremiah Fisher
>What's next for Sorachi? Isn't it generally the case that when long-running manga's end, their mangaka take a huge, huge break and you don't hear from them for a long time? I'm pretty sure Gorilla will take it easy for a bit. I certainly don't expect another work of his in WSJ in the next five years or so. I might be wrong though, does anyone know of any mangaka known for a long-running manga who went straight onto their next work?
Juan Nelson
kishimoto
David Long
Togashi took 1 year breaks between his manga
Josiah Morris
He doesn't actually draw Boruto though. Isn't he just a supervisor? It's not the same as drawing 19 pages of art each and every week.
And then he took 1 year breaks every two years afterwards.
So they're doing reruns right now right? And the plan is to animate the final arc afterwards? Or do I have it wrong?
Joseph Powell
Yes, they're doing reruns since the end of this season.
Ryan Edwards
Yeah, but are the going to animate the final arc afterwards, is there any news on that? Or are they just doing reruns for the hell of it, now that they've got the timeslot.
Well that seems like a definite yes then. And now I have a boner.
Henry Rogers
Me too, user. I very look forward to see this arc animated.
Jason Perry
Will Bandai Scamco redeem themselves?
Are there any updates on the live action movie? It's a trainwreck I can not look away from
Nolan Russell
No updates as far as I know, but the costumes look fantastic. And there's a Justaway hidden in every promo pic, which means the people behind the movie know what they're doing. So I do have some hope.
Wyatt Ortiz
Isn't the fairy tail author doing that, he's ending it soon and immediately bringing a new series out,
Christopher Diaz
Jesus, is that still going? And he gets to do a new series immediately afterward for the same magazine? I think that's a first, isn't it?
Angel Gray
I'm still waiting for Kubo's fashion-based manga. For all of his faults in pacing and story-telling in Bleach, the man is a god-tier fashion designer.
Liam Wright
Though I'm sad to see Gintama end, Sorachi has too much talent to just stop. He really should make another manga, I don't care what it's about. His mix of comedy and serious is unparalleled. Honestly one of the best mangaka working today.
Daniel Lee
I can't wait for Sorachi's take on Rurouni Kenshin next.
