I don't think Miura's lost his edge. The change to digital clearly changed the art for the worse but he seems to be making progress. It's easy to see when an author's bored or tired of writing a story most of the time. I don't get that feeling from Miura. You can't go at 100 all the time, you gotta come down some time so you can enjoy getting back up there. I think Femto's birth was peak darkness for the story, but we'll still see some weird shit once we get past the current arc. As soon as Guts and company are dealing with humans and monsters again rather than elves and fairyfolk, things'll take a more familiar turn.

Once Miura went digital, Berserk's art quality went significantly down - it's isn't bad, but it isn't the high quality arc Berserk used to boast.

When Miura first switched to digital, the first thing that happened was that his linework got thicker but he's since corrected that. Everything that's bad about the new artwork is purely stylistic and has nothing to do with his technical ability.
The way he's styling the noses and giving everyone uguu anime eyes is what makes his work look so bad. The artwork has been morphing into this for over a decade, he's just been getting more angular in his art over time.

In the beginning it all makes sense, there are mercenaries and wars, then guts leaves, griffith messes up, gets tortured and then he sacrifices all the characters that matter to demons. Those demons also mess up guts. How does he 2 hand his huge sword now?
