They probably could have completed Diana's story in 2 episodes if they had paced this one better instead of dedicating a lot of it to build up and repeating things we already know. But at least Akko and Diana's interactions were cute.

There was barely any QUALITY in the episode. Scenes were consistent in quality and because there was so little animation, animation itself didn't look off because of it. Whether that's good or bad, you decide.

Diana's right though. Other people can give Akko ideas or inspire her to understand the words, but they're ultimately personal trials, so only Akko can revive them.
