Akagi Chapter 297, Washizu isn't dead yet

Here we go for another 20 years.
...
Washizu Mahjong is over and Akagi has left, it's just that Washizu was able to survive.

Another 20 days or so until we learn where the rest of the story is headed.
I think the ref will overturn the decision.
Akagi left and the men took the money. More importantly though, Washizu admits that he lost, he's very unlikely to pursue them.
Fuck, this feels so cheap, letting him live just so he can reflect on the match for however many chapters. Kind of ruins it for me, but we'll see what happens, I guess.
Washizu didn't lose due to a lack of drive, he lost because his body couldn't keep up after losing blood. He didn't die so much as pass out, and when they put it back in him his body gradually started waking up again.
My problem isn't that Washizu survived but that Akagi went there to kill Washizu and in the end he didn't do it.
I liked it better when his body just gave out and he was (presumed) dead, though. It's the same kind of meaningless death he gave others, so it fit.
>My problem isn't that Washizu survived but that Akagi went there to kill Washizu and in the end he didn't do it.
I agree, it's not satisfying this way at all.
Same here. Akagi reflected on Washizu's death last chapter and how he died as he lived. It felt really fitting and him living now kinda ruins that as well as Akagi's death as well to some degree since it would have had some kind of relation or would have beenn a good contrast to Washizu's death.
So what's next?
The manga is supposed to end next year February
Hopefully something that ties back into Ten. Or it could be a mini-arc like the Nakai match, but that wouldn't hold up well right after a match like Washizu's.
The last few chapters will be Washizu's vigil. Akagi will be there and he'll jack Washizu's idea of euthanasia.
You would think so, but Akagi was absolutely right. Had he died then and there, it would have been the most perfect death for someone like him. But he didn't. He lost his chance at the most perfect death, and now he will never get another chance like this ever again. Yeah, it cheapens the whole thing, but Washizu surviving is one huge cruel mercy.
Rematch when.
>Fukumoto spending the rest of the manga focusing on Washizu
I don't even want to think about it.
