Evolution is an arms race, those who get to mate and pass their successful genes determine the traits that will be passed.

Snakes have traps that divert the attention of other males only to escape and then copulate with a female.

In genesis one of the explanations people give for the "waters of the firmament" is that it was an ice sheet that did what he said, and the flood was caused by god making it break and melt
