It really does get better. Tomoko chills out a bit and is less desperate after making some other reject friends. Honestly lately she is almost the straightman compared to the levels of spaghetti spilled by Komi and Emoji. She also spends a lot of time triggering the Delinquent.

It's easy enough to maintain a detachment from it in the manga for me. The anime was far too much though. I could not handle it which is probably why it's sales were so low.
