>Syrian Army’s next operation will focus on besieged towns of Kafraya, Al-Fou’aa
BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:05 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) next offensive will focus on lifting the sieges on Al-Fou’aa and Kafraya in the Idlib Governorate, a military source told Al-Masdar News this afternoon.
According to the military source, several units from the Syrian Arab Army and National Defense Forces have already arrived in the Idlib Governorate for this upcoming offensive; they were not used during the Abu Dhuhour Military Airport operation.
Both Al-Fou’aa and Kafraya are currently under siege by the jihadist rebels of Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham near the provincial capital of Idlib.
These two towns are predominately populated with Syrian Shiites, who are often the target of sectarian attacks by jihadist groups in the Idlib Governorate.

>Confirmed: Elite Syrian troops seize Abu Duhur airbase in east Idlib
BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:48 P.M.) – Elite forces of the Syrian Arab Army have wrested control of the strategic Abu Duhur military airport from jihadist-led rebel militias in the eastern countryside of Idlib province.
Sources exclusive to Al-Masdar News report that elite troops of the Syrian Arab Army have seized the Abu Duhur airbase – located on the provincial borders of Idlib and Aleppo – from Islamist militants after entering the strategic military site just several hours ago.
By this advance, the Syrian Arab Army has completed the first main objective of its offensive operation in Idlib after breaking through rebel defenses across the region almost one month ago, laying claim to nearly 150 towns and villages in the process.
The development comes on the same day that Syrian pro-government forces in southern Aleppo linked up with army units near the Abu Duhur airbase.
The re-claiming of Abu Duhur by the Syrian Army marks 28 months since it lost the base to rebel forces who executed all of the troops (71 in total) that fell into their captivity.
