To bring the towers completely down. There was asbestos in the fireproofing and insulation, it would have been horrible to try to tear down the building. They had to do the controlled demolitions to destroy the buildings entirely. An aluminum plane smashing into steel and concrete columns (which were on the facade with WTC1 and 2) wouldn't even be enough to set the building on fire. Aluminum doesn't just fly strait though steel and concrete, even going 500+ mph. Especially the wings lmao, a fucking bird can rip a wing off, the looney tunes holes that were there after the plane disappeared into the building were so funny.

This. And even IF for some reason a plane could penetrate a building like that there is no way it could reach that speed at near sea level. The air is too dense for it to fly straight at that speed.

Because it isn't as devastating at all to wreck two planes into buildings. Maybe kills 300 people. Bringing the towers down was devastating, blew dust and debris for 10 blocks each way, killed over 3000, and got shit in everyones lungs. All the firemen, all the people that helped with the cleanup, all get shit in their lungs and die early. Plus, the investigation was really easy, they found a terrorist PASSPORT ON THE GROUND outside of the tower and it was anonymously turned into FBI. What are the odds they never found the black boxes but a paper passport of one of the "terrorist" makes it outside of the plane and lands on the ground.
Also, the only ones who "saw" the planes were all news correspondents who were in on it.
