Because it's a frozen conflict. Nothing happens besides small time skirmishes, but the frontlines aren't moving. You'd figure that a small insurgency that turned into a small civil war in a poor small country, but in Europe would had been resolved by now. It's going on it's 4th year now, and nothing seemed to have changed since it's beginning.
Syria is a different thing. Advancements are constantly done in that war and it is nearing it's end in a few years it seems. The same can't be said about Ukraine. At least the protests were fun to watch

First of all it's a meme war, only 10k death toll overall. That's yearly numbers for Mexico cartel wars. No massive engagements, it's basically a frozen conflict now. What aircraft are you speaking of? The use of aircraft was minimal by Ukrainian side and many of it was downed right at the start of the conflict, and now the air is closed completely since 2014.
