Anime of the decade

this shit was boring as fuck, I got like five episodes in and shit was still not poppin off

inb4 bait

meh it was good but not that good. Boku no Hero has been way more captivating.

Not even the best anime of its year.

But user, S;G 0 comes out this year!

Haha, No.

K-On Season 2

moe posters should have been banned a long time ago.

>moeshitters

You're an edgy impatient shit. It kicks into overdrive at episode 12. You can't even sit till episode 12?

*blocks your path*

Some people are just ADHD suffering retards. It's not their fault they can't pay attention to something if there isn't some sort of fight or explosion every episode

...

Go drool over Cowboy Bebop and 80s anime Sup Forums

It was enjoyable but all of the characters were unlikable fucks.

Sorry but I also hate that kind of anime. I couldn't watch Cowboy Bebop without yawning.
Steinsgate was not uninteresting. I watched it when I was new to anime and I still managed not to get bored.

Kill yourself, you filthy secondaries masturbate over an inferior butchered version as if it was the best thing ever made. Really speaks volumes of the medium as a whole.

Calm the fuck down.

I've read the VN and the anime does an acceptable job at adapting it.

It actually improved a few bits, like Okabe actually punching Moeka, and the scene where he realizes how Akihabara changed. Faris' arc was a major loss though

Who cares that much about her arc?
A side character if anything.

And then Mr. Braun kills Moeka, for some reason.

Was it so difficult to add the Nae scene?
Did they really need Braun to randomly shoot Moeka?

Fuck you, Faris is great.

Correct, it isn't Penguindrum

Don't know why you'd pick that image tbqh though

i also think the anime's version was better respect to that. Nae scene basically came out of nowhere (plotwise, i know there was this hint in the VN of the TL machine being used while nobody else was in the lab) and didn't add anything that would be covered in official works anyway. Braun killing Moeka isn't out of character, really.

>not watching Cowboy Bebop, falling asleep in the middle of an episode, but still managing to pick out the important bits with your ears. Then going back to the episode the next day and fast forwarding it to get some cool screenshots
Plebian.

It just seems like it was needlessly cut.

S;G is overrated garbage.

That's not The Tatami Galaxy

Penguindrum was a steaming pile of turds for most of its run. Nothing but over the top melodrama and painful symbolism.

Luka didn't suffer enough

I love both S;G and SciADV in general, but even though the anime adaptation of S;G is certainly between the ones I like the most out of this decade, it's not the best one for me. Still great though.

The worst part about this post is that it makes me remember the people that unironically wait for the S;G 0 anime because they don't like VNs, and will miss on a huge amount of content due to S;G 0 being double the length of S;G. Hopefully what they adapt isn't butchered.

>Implying I don't read LNs

Fuck you, user.

No

Madoka is edgeshit not moeshit

I fell into this meme of it getting better and it never did. If it doesn't catch you immediately you'll never like it.

VNs, fuck.

Welcome to the daily
>THINLY VEILED RECOMMENDATION THREAD!!!
enjoy your stay user_kun

I don't think you got the point that I was talking about people in general, and not you. The weirdest thing would have been if your comment wasn't ironic.

Most anime don't catch me immediately. But I've learned to sit through them for a couple of episodes and then I can't stop.

Oh.

Well now I just feel like a retard.

>can't have discussion threads without this sperg showing up

It's fine, my comment didn't also make it entirely clear.

It does get a lot more people hooked in after that point, but there obviously will be people that won't like it even after that. If you don't like it after that part then you probably won't like it.

best waifu of all time

But that isn't Suzuha

In the VN she's certainly better, but I felt like in the anime her tsundere aspect formed almost her personality hugely, and that isn't precisely something I like

Pic related.

I liked steinsgate because of the mayuri factor and the organization. But I suppose she made the slice of life stuff more endearing.

Mawaru Penguindrum is better

The show was dumb but all sci;adv are. Even if you buy the idea fate kills Mayuri (which implies fate overrides causality) to fix the timeline even though it's Kurisu who should be dead they save Kurisu back to the future style and fate is fine with it. Then there's everything related to the non character/plot device known as Moeka aside from maybe Mr Braun.

Even if I let all of that slide the story is simply about the MC running from and potentially ruining as many timelines as possible until he found one where he was happy, he never fixed anything until the last few episodes fucking Subaru was a more responsible time traveler.

Episode name is just "1.382733".
No opening, just rain.
Then this song starts playing youtube.com/watch?v=HCBtnXS1VKo

As long as they don't fuck up that episode I'll be satisfied.

I didn't see it that way. The fact that Kurisu can be saved is a major flaw. However SG0 is coming out and that's where she died so that's not a problem then is it?

I disagree about moeka, she had some great development in the later part that shed light on why she was so shitty.
You're right about okabe ruining timelines, there's hundred of worlds he fucked up and only one he fixed, and technically that was just returning it to how it was before he fucked it up.

The series finale was pretty underwhelming

Those worlds stop existing when he leaves them. So no damage done.

Agreed, but it wasn't overtly terrible. Just not as good as it could have been.

Did you even watch the fucking show.

Mayuri had to die so Valkryie would be formed in the future and the events of the Alpha worldline could take place.

He isn't ruining any timelines, as there is only one possible active worldline, as characters who remember other worldlines prove

He also has the goal to reach 1% divergence so he isn't "just running away"

>Subaru was a more responsible time traveler.
You wish, Re:Zero fag

12 episodes is a lot, especially when we're talking about potentially being the best anime of the decade

I tried watching but nothing grabbed me, maybe ill watch again but this alone should stop any discussion about this being aotd

Is this the worldline where Okabe spends a month or so in WW3? I don't remember where this song plays.

>That's just returning it to how it was before he fucked up
what is the Steins;Gate worldline?

Oh my fucking god, i thought i was the only one that did this. user you're my fucking nigga.

comfy

Formed her personality hugely* I fucked that up

Suzuha a best

>fate is fine with it
Fate also said "fuck you". It wasn't until they learned how convergence works that they could do something.
>Moeka
Yeah she had almost no development, she was more of just an obstacle, at least S;G 0 compensates just a little bit but not much anyway.
>potentially ruining as many timelines
I get you haven't read the VN because the anime explained world lines very poorly. There's just one timeline, "world lines" are just a way of naming a possibility in which the timeline could develop. In fact, the numbers of the world lines are merely given by Okabe subjectively by how different each world line is from the previous one.

It's a buildup till episode 12. It's like building a castle of glass for 12 episodes before smashing the entire thing to tiny pieces. You don't feel for the characters unless you've spent that time with them. Somehow I really like the pacing because of this. It make it feel like nostalgia and make me invested in Mayuri so I actually didn't want her to die.

Nobody should watch the anime first. The VN takes longer to advance the plot but is somehow more engaging because the details are so critical.

Here's a list of some of the shows that aired in 2011 that are better than Steins;Gate:

Usagi Drop
Mawaru Penguindrum
Nichijou
Natsume Yuujinchou San
Hunter x Hunter
Madoka Magica

Steins;Gate is average at best. The first half feels completely aimless, the second half is full of repetition and asspulls.
The characters are easily some of the most poorly motivated and underdeveloped characters of any anime. The girls are all typical bland harem-bitches who want the annoying white-knight MC's dick as usual. I don't even need to explain why I don't like Okabe (I'm sure you can guess). I actually like Daru.
That's before I even get into the boring production and direction. White Fox makes perhaps the most soulless and uninspired visuals of any studio out there. I can't understand how their shows are so successful.

It is not too often I find another user with such refined taste.

Bravo, user.

Speaking of Suzuha, her ending gives zero fucking closure, especially if you read the Suzuha spinoff manga and find out just how exactly she loses her memory and how the time machine fucks her up.

Is that manga canon?

You mean Braunian Motion of Love and Hate? Yes, it's one of the few side material we know for sure whether it's canon or not and actually is. Also yeah her ending was open as fuck, but I still think it's the best one besides the true ending. Most of the other endings didn't make much sense, and we got to see a dark side of Okabe caused by time travel fuckery.

You have no feelings.
I liked Daru too but I also liked the show.

because it appeals to the lowest denominator.

>All these contrarians ITT

That's SAO.

These are good points but even if the plot may have some flaws the thing that makes this anime so good,in my opinion, is the emotional aspect.
The sense of loss of a cancelled timeline combined with the fact that Okabe was the only one to remember them brought was overwhelming and soul-croushing. Not to mention the time machine scene.

I watched the anime first. Closest I ever got to VNs was the Ace Attorney games.

I'll probably download the VN soon instead of rewatching the anime. It was really good by the way, but not best of the decade for me, still liked Madoka and Psycho Pass better. Top 5 for sure though.

>if they don't agree with me they are contrarians

I'm gonna watch what you listed because I haven't really seen them recommended anywhere. If they're shit, I'll curse you.

It's been a few years, why not get a new scapegoat?

Objectively the best for sure. Moefags and Edgelords can both get behind it

SnK then.

kemono friends the anime of this and the next decade.

I certainly recommend the VN, and just in general any VN of an anime you like and would want expanding. Anime adaptations don't have as many of the characters' thoughts as VNs do, they also can take way more time so they don't need to hurry / change stuff to fit the length, which a lot of times causes VNs to flow better (although that's obviously not always the case).

Non Non Biyori is the current frontrunner for Sup Forums's anime of the decade.

>hasn't seen HxH or Madoka recommended

Where have you been?

Re:zero?

I mean Rebellion of the Missing Ring

Braunian motion is about Braun's backstory
Rebellion of the Missing Ring focuses on Suzuha in the future and present

It also reveals the reason she loses her memory isn't directly because of the time machine, but because of a SERN assassin who throws her off of a building because the Time Machine malfunctions and injures her

So Okabe going with her shouldn't change fuck all

Your reply was better than mine. Let's go with that. At least Re:zero has lolis and battlemaids to weed out some normalfags.

Uh. user, Re:Zero is animated by whitefox.

>this list

You should not be allowed to bitch about the quality of any plot without reading the source material first. The presentation of the plot as put forth by an adaptation is fair game, though.

see also

that's actually a good list, faggot, i bet you like keion.

Oh yeah, I choked there mb. I don't know if that one is canon or not sadly. That reminds me I should probably re-read a lot of side material, it's been way too long.
Btw, Babel is getting more chapters translated now, but they will be released slowly (I know the guys). I may take care of the typesetting at some point depending on the availability of the translator and the typesetter, so hopefully there will be more soon enough.

Agree with this, but frankly there are a lot of anime that came out in 2011 that are better than S;G. Pengiundrum and Hunter both come to mind amongst others.

This. The problem with time travel in Steins;Gate is that there are certain things that HAVE to happen because of fate, and other things that don't, and there aren't any truly hard-set rules about which one any given event must be. There are in-story explanations for why that is, but from the point of view of a guy sitting down and writing a story it pretty much gives you license to justify anything happening. Any event can be justified as not being able to change for x reason that is important to history, and any event can be written as being "not important" and butterfly effect-ed away. Just shitty writing all around.

>poorly motivated and underdeveloped
What? The characterization in the later half of the show is some of the best we've seen in the last seven years. It's not enough for AOTD, but you can't just write off the arcs for all the characters. I'm still moved when thinking of the scene about Daru and Suzu, and I haven't even read the VN so I assume this is just a fraction of the actual characterization.

Pick unrelated right?
That shit it's terrible.

Yeah, it's the first worldline change, great scene. This song also plays when he wakes up from his coma.

*ahem*
YOU CAN"T USE THE VN TO DEFEND THE ANIME! THAT'S NOT HOW CRITICISM WORKS!

It's not because certain events are important, it's because certain events have to occur to prevent paradoxes from occuring

for example, Mayuri needs to die on the Alpha worldline to motivate Okabe to create his terrorist group, which is the only reason that Suzuha can come back in time

Speaking of Sci;Adv series. Chaos;Child is coming out June 30th. Apprantly the VN is>>>>>>>>>than the anime, so I might pick it up.

Just because the anime told it poorly doesn't mean the story is bad.

Not sure if ironic or not, but in my case (third post) it's still explained on the anime, just that way more vaguely which leads to confusion.

>and I haven't even read the VN

I didn't use it to defend shit, the anime was good enough by itself.

just because your standards are low doesn't mean something is good.

Read the VN faggot.

>implying
