Japan's fear of experimentation and their mindset to instead copy what's popular but add a small tweak to make it seem original which goes on until someone or something breaks the mold and is super succesful which then makes everyone just follow that.

The fact that I won't go in a coma for 30 years and then wake up to read a lot of good new series

Sup Forums

That they're great when you binge them but turn to crap if you follow them as they release

More like the disgusting part of Sup Forums that comes into the threads once the anime starts airing. I fucking wish we had a separate board for manga & LNs/WNs.

Not every series is completed yet. Too much good shit that's still being published.

It's not updated

That like 90% turn to shit halfway

That some lazy artists go on hiatus instead of cancelling the whole manga because it is clearly that they don't want to work on it anymore.

Whenever an evil character usually which isn't the main antagonist does a karma houdini and gets off scott free from being a total dick, usually to women.

That there are so many good ones that will not get animated.

This

Came here to post this, at least specifically in the context of "comedy" 4komas and such. It's all the exact same unfunny, rehashed, sexy but no sex allowed trash. Bkub is pretty much the only one I can stomach anymore and that's because of the sheer originality and unpredictability even when it isn't funny.

>characters shouting moves/techniques as they do them
>muh friendship/muh edge is what gives protag super powers
>OP cardboard cutout Isekai/fantasy protagonists with bullshit "cheat" powers
>it's another copy pasta of commercially successful generic formulas episode
>entertaining series gets cancelled and has rushed ending because Japan has shit tastes

poptepipic is the only 4koma i want to see animated

Were getting our wish soon, very soon. Fans of the super cute bunny, too.
Not to jinx it, but this ought to be a pretty good year.

Forgot pic

The fact that unlike LNs, they almost always cuck out of stuff like incest and actual harem endings. LNs and even some anime push the boundaries and often actually go through with what they set up, while I am constantly disappointed at manga backtracking everything with only a tiny handful of notable exceptions. Shit, even fucking To LOVE-Ru pussied out from the harem ending. I also hate how manga often go on hiatus or have shitty scanlators that fall behind or drop the series. Then on top of that there's the infamous trend of series being drawn out without really doing much then suddenly wrapping up in the most aggravating way in 2-3 chapters when the series is axed.

> fear of experimentation

There is much less than in comics.

If you cannot take banter, you do not belong here

Pandering/Baiting.
I like some good old Fan-service, but putting boobs on the cover just to get more popular is annoying(e.g. Fairy tail)
Suprisingly good thread up till now.

That I just can't get enough and I will never live long enough to savor every flavors it has to offer.

Endings. They just can't end series correctly.

I'm more glad that manga even allows stuff to be pandering. Versus the shitstorm you get out of comics these days

I can't think of anything that applies to all of the manga industry, but I guess one thing i hate alot is the need for manga to immediately pop or risk cancellation some stories need time to develop their characters and world before things can get rolling, it sometimes seems like everything has to be rushed now

The fact that there are some series which were huge when they were running but still have no scanlations.

Lazy artists who draw like they don't give a shit. Pic related is the first Touhou manga. It looks so bad you'd be forgiven for thinking half the pages are some sort of early sketch instead of the real product.

>That smile....I want to protect that smile

General cringe dialogue followed by a lack of believable characters with real-life human traits.

However, when they try to convey a human like character they tend to over-exaggerate certain strengths, so they end up inadvertently making a mary sue, or they over-exaggerate flaws and end up making this abomination (pic). I know it's an animated movie and not manga, and perfect blue is generally really good, but It would've added to the thriller if the stalker was a completely normal looking guy that the main character couldn't possibly pinpoint on looks alone.

Kill yourself. Animeonly faggots are cancer and every fucking manga has its threads temporarily ruined by a mob of retards like yourself who discuss seasonal garbage.

>Spoiler

I felt that when i was reading star light woman

what do you mean by "seasonal garbage"
- not guy your arguing with, but you don't like one-offs? some of them are great, no?

>one-offs
that doesn't describe most seasonal anime though, is there anything even airing right now that isn't based on something else?

when the threads are once and week and comfy, until the anime airs and it attracts a bunch of filthy secondaries that turn my once comfy threads into several-daily waifu wars/shitposting/blogging threads

That there are like 20 golden weeks every year.

And this.

i don't know, but I have a whole MAL catalog of stuff for when I can't find anything new and interesting. Old series you haven't watched can be better than always looking for the latest stuff. I can link you if you want

stuff like this helps me: imdb.com/list/ls057577566/

there are too many good anime for one person to watch imo, but i agree that the boards more often than not post some dumb shit

The "main girl" is always the most boring one. Absolutely shit tier in girls and shipping in general.

You might just have shit taste.

I also browse TV Tropes sometimes and if you find something interesting you can scroll and find movies, shows, games, books you never heard of that have really interesting characters and plot points.

misunderstandings

You wait a whole week and get about 4 minutes of content.

The animation is so slow!

Weekly release schedule + popularity polls deciding whether the series will be continued or not are cancer when combined together. It creates shit paced so fast you have no fucking idea what's going on because every fucking flashy thing needs to be shown in at most first 3 chapters or you're getting kicked out of serialization. It also creates cookie cutters to the point where you can no longer tell shounen series apart.

>last update 3000 days ago
>harem

As with anime 5% is gold, 10% is watchable, 85% objective garbage. It's a lot like Steam in that regard, the garbage is so prevalent that it deters me from trying anything without a recommendation.

Long term Hiatuses. Like for fuck sakes if you manga has been in production hell for more than 2 years just pull the fucking plug and so the fans could have some sense of closure you selfish bastard.

Doesn't the serial own the rights to your manga for X number of years? I don't think you can cancel a series you don't own.

Whern people post bad fan art with bad coloring before the chapter.

Why they do that ?

When the attacks aren't well defined and melt into the background.

Girls that enter the bath and beat up boys for accidentally seeing them naked.

the fact that every site names each page and each series slightly differently so I have to spend time bulk renaming everything so it works properly on my ereader

this, definitely this

Just use shitty online readers like mangarock like everyone else.

scanlators should try this:
github.com/Daiz/manga-naming-scheme
>inb4 daiz
whatever, it's still a good idea

This.
Miazaki was right.

My fear that the translation I'm reading isn't accurate. Or worse the translation sounds better and what is actually being said is lame in comparison.

I still remember the time where MonMus threads where unofficially the crowned the most comfy threads on Sup Forums.

This
Fuck keeping up with series
I would rather wait 5 years for them to end than to read each chapter alone

Turning the page and seeing the left page before the right and sucking all suspense, tension, or surprise straight out of the right page.

The fact no one ever seems to want to do color.
I mean yeah sometimes a bad job can ruin fine art but that's not often especially compared to how amazing some good color can make a splash page.

ereader is for reading in comfy bed silly

>It would've added to the thriller if the stalker was a completely normal looking guy that the main character couldn't possibly pinpoint on looks alone.
But the REAL stalker WAS completely normal. Added to the fact that she was her manager it's completely fucked up. That guys was just a tool

>The fact no one ever seems to want to do color.
I this is more a of how they choose to present the medium rather than they not wanting to do it.
Also the fact that drawing manga is completely done at neck breaking speed by a small team.

Why are you not simply having them in CBR/CBZ format?
Then all you have to worry about is the name and a decent CBR reader like CDisplay or PerfectView

Yeah I guess speed is an issue.

When the scanlators needlessly bloat their releases by saving grayscale images in 24bpp unoptimized PNGs

>people only reading generic mainstream manga and then complaining that manga is too generic

People tend to shit on anime for being advertisements but manga endings are a lot worse. They either go on for too long or get axed.
That and boring paneling. A lot of manga tend to have safe, dull panels.

>LN anime has a good and strong premise for episodes 1 and 2
Neat!
>first major arc introduces secondary characters, or remaining main characters
4 fine episodes, I'm okay with this.
>rest of the 8+ episodes are holding-pattern shit fluff that does nothing with an initially good premise, and the opportunity for a strong 12-episode series is wasted on harem, lolrandumb, and status quo

Battle/sports shonen manga that insist on pausing the action to explain every single move the characters make in unnecessary detail.

>discover a manga that you adore
>hasn't been actively translated in 2+ years

As for things about manga itself I hate harems with more than three girls, romances with no actual romance, and school settings with overly-aggressive and/or sadistic bullies.

The fact that it's coming out so slowly. Yes, I understand that drawing takes time. But I can literally read a series that was coming out for a decade in a day or two.
I can find a cool manga, read most of it in a day, and then have to wait years for chapters to slowly trickle in. It's just horrible.

Fucking Uchuu Kyoudai reminds me of this shit.
>biweekly schedule
>manga already has an agonizingly slow pace
>literally takes months for anything to happen

right to left

moe

Shitty editors

The worst is when it's stuck on some long, drawn out arc that everyone hates. Like with Prison School recently. At least that one is over.

Axe, shit art, slow, dead authors

This expression. It's now ruined two manga I was following.

>Author dies without leaving transcripts right before the most interesting arc of the series
>When manga is adapted into anime
>Exposition dumps, pages full of words words words
One Piece is near unreadable because of this, every page is a fucking book or repeating exposition
>The whole shitscene that is scanalations and scans
>Golgo 13 will never be translated

God help you guys if you ever get into webcomics and their 1-3 pages a week, if updating at all.

reviving characters or making good death scenes only for them to somehow survive (Pell for example)

rather have an anime with 0 deaths than any of these

>What pisses you off most about manga?

Great and interesting stories, amazing ideas, and fantastic art, ruined by rampant, out-of-place fetishism.

Webcomics exist only to perish. Their purpose is found in their demise.

Do we even have non-shitty editors?

i don't know Japanese

what manga i can read is depend on the translator taste

The fact that it's all in black and white and backwards

The fact that I hate trouble following up with fight scenes and onomatopoeia.

telling apart characters in 20+ character casts when everyone looks the same. DAMN YOU ZIPZANG

All of it is in japanese.

I took 7 years of Japanese classes and I barely know shit. I know enough to read sound effects, and understand context better, and it really helps a lot. It's embarrassing that I can't even follow a simple conversation after 7 years of classes, though.

can't you read them in a normal image viewer?

this fucking sameface though.

>long running series
>newer chapters are translated
>early chapters are not

Fuck you and fuck anime. Just read the manga, you stupid faggot.

Thats wrong, the serials own the initial publishing rights but they never own the series itself.

>Most of the good shit is untranslated
>Good shit that gets translated gets translated poorly and/or has shit quality scans
>Managaka are flaky as fuck sometimes and go on indefinite hiatuses, quit, get fired, die, or get distracted playing video games and never update their manga

That it's not anime.

So many good manga series out there, and most of the ones that have been "turned" into anime have sucked balls compared to the manga.

>It's a episode where the author devotes entire chapters to edgelord philosophy literally being spouted by middle schoolers.
>It's a suspenseful and tense manga has an ending that ruins the entire thing where nobody actually died and takes away all the interesting mystery episode
>It's an episode where the author shoves in their fetish
>It's an hiatus episode.

>>It's an episode where the author shoves in their fetish
>it's your fetish too

>discover an anime that seems right up your alley
>no scans or torrents available.

Also I have to second the sadistic bullies. I mean jesus fuck, I can see a bully hitting or insulting someone but did you have to have the bullies rape the kid with testtubes sweet crispy fuck.
