Its fucking impossible to get a decent flat in cologne without overpaying by an insane amount or moving to the outskirts.
Thankfully im in a "genossenschaft" dont really know how to say it in english. Invitation only group that buys up houses, makes them pretty and clean again and rent out to only genossenschafts members for very low rents.
So i got lucky.

The problem is that young couples with decent incomes are not able to get onto the housing ladder. They struggle to get a morgage.
The result being that most young couples with good incoming remain social housing. Making it genuinely hard for people with low incomes to get into social housing.
