>ragtag team of powerful villains (i.e. Akatsuki, Genei Ryodan, Shichibukai, Claw)
Always gets me hype.

MC starts off as a weakling but gradually becomes strong after a change in mindset. I don't even mind if it's edgy.

>OP plays during final fight

>protagonist and antagonist have immense respect for each other and would be friends/comrades under different circumstances

The lazy fun guy that when sees a friend get hurt turns into a badass motherfucker (ex: Shanks, Shunsui).

>unassuming guy is incredibly strong
This really turns me on

>rival(s) and/or antagonist(s) from previous temporarily team up and kick ass with coordinated attacks almost to the degree of a dance routine

aaaaawwwwwyyyyyyyeeeeeeaaaahhhhh

>comedy relief is strongest character

>delinquent has a heart of gold

>Mentor character actually gives good mentoring to the MC/his friends

then he overdoses on oxygen in his muscles and gets brain damage

>yandere for mc

>Girl cuts hair. Becomes a badass
Protip: this doesn't work in real life.

>MC is a huge pervert with a heart of gold (Space Dandy)
>MC actually has flaws while still being a good person

>flashy/gyaru type is actually really sweet and looking for serious love
misleading appearances are great in general

>Main character disregards females in exchange for revenge

I can only get so hard

>The MC actually hears the confession
>The rest of the show is about them dating and having a happy life

>The MC doesn't hear the confession because of bullshit
>The Girl/Guy just confesses again

oooOOOOO-HO-HO-HO-HO

>Male character revealed to be a tomboyish girl

> Girls with drills are best girls

>characters accomplishing things by willpower alone when it shouldn't be possible
>even better when it breaks clearly established rules

Did that ever happen? Onepiece?

I think you two need to brush up on the definition of a cliche

>underdog protag has some underlying talent, but seems weak/ordinary

And I think you need to watch more Romance anime if you honestly don't think that the MC not hearing the confession is not a cliche.

...

He's talking about the instance where the MC DOES hear the confession.

Antagonist from a previous arc returns to help the hero simply because they are the only one who's allowed to beat the hero

>Truck-sama misses

>former villain teams up with protagonist and becomes best friends after taking down a bigger threat

Not hearing the confession is a cliche. Hearing the confession is a subversion of the cliche. Just by the way user worded that sentance makes that apparent. If hearing the confession was so common that it became cliche, then he would just call it a confession. By clarifying that the MC hears the confession you're hinting at the actual cliche of him not hearing it, and the subsequent will they won't they plot that is the focus of most romance anime.

Thats why i like rem but then she turned deredere.

What anime/manga do this?

>MC has a mental breakdown.
>Still fights anyway.. After a while.

DBZ

7 Sins, DBZ

I fucking hate this CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
Long hair is patrician, fuck pleb author

>When the villain literally does nothing wrong but has to be stopped anyway because of entry level moral-faggotry.
I like antagonists with compelling motives.
This never fails to move me.

Good taste

Lee + Gaara vs boneboi
Dad Naruto + Dad Sasuke vs moonbros
Kuroko streetball spinoff teamup
Goku + Vegeta
etc

>when the MC's rival turns out to be stronger and badder than the big bad himself

Yugioh
Diamond is Unbreakable
Nanoha
HunterxHunter to a limited extent

>big bad boss fight, shits getting real
>rival comes out of nowhere, beats the shit out of boss and turns everything up to eleven

>MC who did something horrible (by purpose or by accident) and are in a journey looking for redemption.

Fucking Kaneki.

It's symbolic

>the MC is a retard with not self-awareness

>rival was actually jobbing the jobber boss
>MC beats rival to show how much stronger he's grown

Seemingly unbeatable character gets btfo. I'm in love with Hisoka.

>most powerful character is not a flamboyant jabroni
>it's a badass oldman

Magic circles

>The Old Mentor dies tragically
>He absolutely wrecks shit before doing so, even wounding the end Bad Guy
>MC uses the same move the Mentor used to wound the Bad Guy, to kill the Bad Guy.

Hey fuck you, short hair is best.

You're clearly retarded

>carefully explained rules and power levels
>one character screaming very loudly and being upset fucks all this carefully explained shit up

Every time

he doesnt get the screentime he needs

>MC goes berserk against rival-kun
>Unleashes ultimate attack and faints
>Rival-kun is weakened, but still standing
>Decides to just walk away and consider this one a draw
>Then he sees the crater created by MC redirecting most the power out of their attack at the last second.

Every worst girl has long hair. Every best girl has short hair. It's not that complicated.

Mech fight anime.
MC ends up not having a mech to fight with.
Has to desperately take it down a giant robots with wits and courage.

The hero purposely lets himself get hit simply so the villain will be completely within his range.

>Characters saying the name of the attack

Charging

>old guy is actually ripped and the strongest character.

>character has to actually lift/exercise/get /fit/ in order to improve themself
>actually shows them working to make mad gains

>when the keikaku has several different keikakus under it
>Millenary loli finally gets serious
>that guy who is just plain bullshit and everyone knows it
>MC and rival agree to honorable fists-only duel regardless of the rules of whatever the fuck they're currently doing.

Hero can't hurt the villain through traditional means and has to think a way past this, while still fighting the villain.

>MC is considered a loser
>MC is actually fucking amazing, holy shit, naysayers get blown the fuck out

Someone mentioned that Cavalry mango and I got into it because of this.

But on the flipside
>Despair and all its Tropes
From NTR (not really) to rape to losing best girl to side character (Kurosawa)
Despair tropes are probably my favorite thing, because the above trope could always happen.

But then it doesnt

>setting has multiple fantasy races
>there's one human who is stronger than all of them

Closed eyed comedy relief character opens eyes when they get serious.

>When the main villain notices just how powerful a former irrelevant side character is.

>My favorite cliche is when the characters are well written and the story doesn't use cliches

so the entirety of heavy object?

oh man this one's great.

also, how could i forget:
>Gattai, but with the OP playing.
>training montages

youtube.com/watch?v=kIP541B9F88

i still laugh my ass off at symphogear's training montages

>well written anime
get a load of this guy
as if there is such a thing

Any unexpected "nani" moment.

My personal favorites

>Multiple antagonists throughout the story that are aware of each others powers and respect them despite being against each other.
>Absurdly strong loli character
>Holier-than-thou villains that think their way of thinking is the right way.
>That one overpowered edgy character that claims to have no identity or motive

This, just read the fight today, it was fucking amazing on both characters.

Friend or rival saying:
>Continue! I'll take care of this

Useless character saves the day or does something epic.

Also, first opening playing in the climax

those edgy kids who separate from the mc to get revenge

...

>Comedy relief has a weird and gimmicky power
>Turns out that power is actually really strong

>Oppai

reminds me of forgetmenot.

When two rivals scream their opponent's name at each other.

>villain had same ideals as MC

Busou Renkin

>When the final attack literally obliterates the user alongside the receiver

youtube.com/watch?v=3nFM4wDeXco

That one episode of My Hero Academia was pretty good about this. That part when you see his visible gains whoo lad

I will forever regret that this didn't fuck up Madara somehow. Like, it didn't have to beat him or anything but maybe have his regeneration get fucked up for a while

I don't know if this is really a cliche because it doesn't happen a lot but when the animation becomes intentionally messed up at a climactic moment

>Title drop during final episode
>OP drop during final episode
>powered up attack from episode 1 with 6 adjectives attached

And

>enemy describes their unbeatable super-defense
>hero is cornered, forced to get serious
>overpowers enemy super-defense solely by being faster or stronger than anyone believed was possible

Corruption

>When a side character gets the best fight in the series

It was a great moment that got immediately trivialized when both madara got back and fought at full strength afterwards AND guy was saved by ninja jesus.

I always wished kaguya wasn't shoehorned into the main plot and rather became a character during the two movies afterwards (alongside the rest of the Otsutsukis) , and it was just Madara vs Naruto/Sasuke as the final battle.

Yeah not really a cliche, but whatever

>the main villain is actually more of a hero than the hero and the hero is arguably actually and literally evil who promotes forced love instead of actual love

God-tier "villains" are best

More like
>when the side characters are better than the mc

>character is at their lowest point
>the moment they turn shit around
