If you use slaves for clearing forest you'll need to teach them about forestry
If you use slaves to work in factories then there's two things that happen.
>1 you'll need to train these slaves and pay for the training. However this is a one time fee since once they are trained you won't be paying for them anymore
>2 you now have hundreds of thousands factory workers that have lost their jobs and can't get a new job because they don't have any skill sets. This will hurt your economy as now you have a large Marjory of people not spending money.

If anything I'd only want a slave around the house to clean it and do yard work. You could also have slaves clean the city and keep it tidy. Slaves wouldn't really work unless they were to take a job that is not currently occupied by another individual
