Why is he so bitter? Why doesn't he just lighten up? Does he have autism or something?

Why is he so bitter? Why doesn't he just lighten up? Does he have autism or something?

because anime is shit and when you're a creator you care about the medium you work in
he's also old and arrogant

He's like that Jirou guy. So serious about work because he has nothing else going for him. Anime is his identity.

You mean someone like Oda? But Oda shows it by having extremely detailed lore and no inconsistencies. That's what you call caring for your product. Also, he's been writing weekly for over 20 years. I don't think Miyazaki is serious about his work at all. it doesn't show at least.

So many people in 'these' meida industries- not just anime- have began pulling away and voicing discomfort at what it became after the real zealot fans started becoming producers of it.

>being on Sup Forums
>Not identifying with a bitter old man

Because he actually works hard at what he loves and he has had to watch this medium that he loves working on slowly turned into a flaming trash heap.

Have you ever met an old person?

Because when you actually have a sense of taste, it hurts to see so many people around you swallowing shit and paying for it.

I as well would want to tell those people to stop liking shit.

>why is Sup Forums so bitter?
>why don't they just lighten up?

The majority if Sup Forums is bitter to fit in. Once you learn that anime can be fun again it becomes really nice even if you can't stand this place.

>enjoy your shit, please
I hate people telling you to lighten up about things that are clearly bad.

>Only pretending to be bitter to fit in
Please leave riajuu.

>Why are old people that have"seen it all bitter"

I've been there. Everyone does it after a while on here, eventually people come out the other side, you can make it user

I agree with him to be honest

He may be kind of an arrogant prick but at least he calls people on their shit

When they were having that meeting on CG and he straight up called it "an affront to life itself" I almost stood up and clapped

Hes not bitter just pretentious and arrogant that Anime industry isn't to his taste.

it wasn't about the CG it was about that they were using computer cg to animate a cripple body triggering him that it was mocking real people with disabilities.

>it wasn't about the CG it was about that they were using computer cg to animate a cripple body triggering him that it was mocking real people with disabilities.
What a good man. I never really cared that he was arrogant, everyone is, in their own way. He makes good films. I hope him the best.

>Hes not bitter just pretentious and arrogant that Anime industry isn't to his taste.

That's literally just Sup Forums.

They weren't animating a crippled body per-se, it was just some sort of procedural animation where the model generated strange ways of movement. The guys making it said it was creepy and had use in horror game, and then Miyazaki sort of pointed out that there are people like his friend who do have trouble moving normally and do move strangely and that he thought it was offensive to use that kind of thing as horror because it dehumanized people with real conditions.

He later did seem a bit fanny-flustered when the researcher said they wanted to use technology to replace human animators.

I think that what he said on the first point has merit and it was good of him to speak up on that point, though on the second point I think it's more of a knee jerk reaction of someone who has always seen creation as deeply personal creative endeavor that shouldn't be handed off to machines.

>rouble moving normally and do move strangely and that he thought it was offensive to use that kind of thing as horror because it dehumanized people with real conditions.
What a complete faggot

can someone just tell me who he is?

...

he is Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of Metal Gear Solid and co-writter of Batman Raisin: Revengeance.

i thought you were not trolling me. and desu my question is not bait.

I usually don't mind spoon feeding but you're just a retard.

Ohayou Mitakotonaiyo. He was the creator of Imperial Japanese propaganda during the war, later on people found out he's a pedophile which made him extremely salty. Nowadays he is the leader of an extreme right/fascist group in Japan that wishes to turn back time. He also directs some wishful right wing movies that deny Japanese was crimes from time to time but he's pretty old at this point.

>Miyazaki sort of pointed out that there are people like his friend who do have trouble moving normally and do move strangely and that he thought it was offensive to use that kind of thing as horror because it dehumanized people with real conditions
What do you mean? Does that mean Miyazaki associates zombies with disabled people? The real monster here is Miyazaki himself, the last thing I think of when I see a mutated abomination of nature is a disabled person.

>Why is he so bitter? Why doesn't he just lighten up? Does he have autism or something?
Sup Forums: gijinka'd

Well I don't know what condition his friend has, but there are many neuro-muscular disorders which cause people to involuntary twitch and spasm making life very difficult for them. I assume this is what the jerky strange movements of the animation reminded him of, and he felt that treating those strange movements as something to be exploited for shock value was inappropriate since there are many people for whom that is just how their body acts.

you cant really blame him after Japland degenerated for the past several decades. Adding the bubble that popped in the early 90s, you can really see why he's angry

Now you understand how Miyazaki feels.

Some old men are just like that. One of my grandfathers was always grumpy, too.

He's just some asshole.

because his art despite the critical praise it gets is second place to whatever the hot topic meme shit that gets cranked out every season that you idiots eat up and act like it's the second coming of christ

yeah, he saw japan at it's height when it was booming and fully recovered from WW2 and was killing it economically in the 1970s/1980s.

He's lived through the intense and horrible militarism, and now he's seen the opposite end of the spectrum

I'd imagine that would leave you pretty jaded.

When he's the one with shit taste. It's kind of hard to not call him bitter

Am I too innocent? I've watched 70+ shows and still enjoy anime.

>his art
>doesn't even have proper shading
>everything has female-shinji sameface
>even daring calling it 'his' art

Moefags are still assblasted at him it seen .

Nice boogeyman

He's a typical piece of shit Boomer selling everyone else up the river because he knows he won't be around to deal with the consequences.

i feel life half of Sup Forums gets the impression of miyazaki from those fake screencaps

seriously watch some documentaries or read his memoirs if you need a serious opinion

>things are shit
>calls them shit

WOW WHAT A NEGATIVE NANCY LIGHTEN UP BROSEF

Miyazaki's strongly worded opinions are not the result of nostaligia, he's been as grumpy and bitter since he was young.

>I just learnt what the word 'Boomer' means from reading Sup Forums

It's over. We're in a postfacts-era.
Whoever spouts the first thing about something has already practically won and shaped the opinions of the majority, even if it's complete bogus.

there's about 200 good anime shows, if your enjoyment of anime doesn't significantly drop after that you probably have awful taste

It's not anime that made me bitter, it's Sup Forums itself. I've come to hate this place and its shitty mentality, but even though coming here only makes me angry I can't quit for some reason.

Did he really bitch at NASA for not turning deserts fertile?

I think I have awful taste, there's a lot of good shows I haven't watched.

>seriously watch some documentaries or read his memoirs if you need a serious opinion
Why should I? His movies cured my insomnia a long time ago. I needn't listen to that senile fool's "opinion" that is inconsistent when it's convenient to him.

what's so bad about Sup Forums?

turning deserts fertile sounds a lot more useful to humanity than going into space

He's getting old and doesn't have a successor. He's probably just sad to see the industry in such a poor shape when he's at the point where he doesnt know how much longer he'll live for

What did he exactly do to improve the industry? Or is he just someone that complains without presenting fixes?

how is one man supposed to stop japan being a nation of terminally introverted anti-human robots

So he did nothing and kept producing shallow children's movies because they sell is what you're saying? Seems like he should have innovated his own movies at least if he complained about it so much.

I dont like his movies at all but you have to admit he has a point and there's nothing one person can do about it

>you have to admit he has a point
No. He doesn't have a point and has presented no solution for his so called problems. He himself does the same things he faults others for.

Always fought against mediocrity. Blamed Tezuka forever for making anime shitty low budget cheap shit and never let his own work fall prey to that.

>Always fought against mediocrity
By making worse than mediocre movies? By investing in interesting innovate animated features? Oh no. I'm sorry. That was mean of me. I guess he invested in his son just so he could walk out on him for making something miles better than his own work.

I'm not even sure what you are trying to say. He fought against mediocrity by actually animating instead of trying to make things as cheaply and quickly as possible with as few drawings as possible.

anime is full of worthless pandering

Okay so everyone here talks about their 6 gorillon + anime lists but then say Miyazaki is below average. If thats true what is average?

Anyone saying Miyazaki's films at their best are not among the best anime to ever have been made is just a contrarian faggot whose opinion should be discarded. It doesn't matter how much anime they have seen.

Ah yeah. That's because he gets budget. Because he makes shallow children movies that do nothing to innovate and are all the same. Really gets my noggin chogging. I'd call that a waste of budget. All style and no substance. And not even done well either. Tons of over animating and it can't even rival any western animation studio back in the day.

Define pandering and you realize how stupid you sound. Making a good movie is pandering to people that want to see a good movie.

Who cares what is average? What a useless criteria. Something is either worth watching, for whatever reason, or it's not, for whichever reason.

Miyazaki is barely even anime, he's Japanese Disney

Go to bed old man.

I really hope you are pretending to be retarded.

Don't insult Disney like that.

I just want to know their mindset why they are so opposed to miyazaki then I see a million fantasy anime threads here. Trying to understand is probably pretty pointless though.

I think most artistic mediums have a sea of garbage you have to sort through to find the good things and anime is a huge fucking example of that.

I'm not saying you have to like him dumb fuck I'm saying are there really that many directors who have work worth a damn? But I see you are resorting to budget arguments, who would do a better job with a bigger budget?

I was insulting Miyazaki

>Define pandering
Incestous (creatively, not literally) shows made by anime watchers for anime watchers with nothing much to say because they have no life experience and promote distorted, anti-human values
I don't even think its a bad of a problem as Miyazaki does, I've seen a lot of good anime, but I don't think anyone reasonable can deny it exists

>why they are so opposed to miyazaki
Because they ignorantly gobble up memes and get defensive because they think Miyazaki has attacked their god given right to have their cute girl anime.

It has nothing to do with the work and everything to do with the kind of person that spews this garbage and their perception of Miyazaki as a person formed through largely false information spread through the internet. Essentially ignorance and memes.

Not to mention its anime that is popular with mainstream society also. That makes it doubly bad.

Hes a hypocritical old fuck that got spoiled by all fame he got. He calls out moeshit for ruining the industry yet when it co es to the majority of his movies he inserts the same archetype of a young female protagonist in his works while only making certain superficial changes.

When did Miyazaki say that moeshit was ruining the industry? I defy you to find a quote.

Otaku pandering is pretty much synonymous to that.

I guess it goes to the mindset liking something means you don't like other thing in classic simpleton logic.
I'm pretty sure he said otakus did as kind of a direct affront to Anno during that interview. If anything he believes that shit like eva was the wrong direction for anime.

I'm not saying I hate Anno either he just doesn't like what otakus have become

Where did Miyazaki say otaku pandering was ruining the industry? I defy you to find a quote.

Fucking this.

But you fucking kids wouldn't know a thing about what we went through and why we're bitter. You all probably think 30 is old.

Young punks.

Just search "miyazaki otaku" you fucking buffoon. Do I also have to provide sources on fire being hot?

...

It's mostly just people repeating claims that have never been made without ever seeing a source and believing it because people say it a lot.

He has never said anything about otaku pandering ruining the industry. The fact that people repeat it as if it were fact does not make it true. He has said the anime industry is suffering from the fact that it is full of otaku, specifically referring to the fact that they don't understand humans and don't observe how humans actually behave so this is reflected in their animation. He has said he dislikes certain types of otaku. Never has he said "otaku pandering is ruining the industry".

The real kicker about that asshole Miyazaki is that he's a mediocre director, animator and designer.

This makes such a weak argument. The first half is just western squimishness around sexuality and over sensitivity to anything that could be construed as paedophilia.

The second part is first dubious in nature of the veracity of the source, secondly unreliable in the recounting, its someone saying what someone once said to someone else apparently when they were drunk? and thirdly completely out of context.

>pointless additions of gratuitous panty shots, bare bottoms and naked little girls
>IS JUST JAPOINESE CULTURE GUISE
lel

It isn't "just" Japanese culture. It is true to life. If you've ever played with young girls and you are doing something that involves physical activity and they are wearing a dress or skirt its more than likely you will see under that dress at some point. The "western" part of it is just the hysterical attitude towards such things that are normal occurences. Nothing gratuitous about it just a depiction of life.

What you are advocating is pointless censorship of the reality of things because it offends your delicate sensibilities. Feel free to join tumblr anytime now.

Miyazaki isn't "true to life" (lol). He's an old pedo. I've watched hundreds and hundreds of anime, and it's beyond obvious that Miyazaki likes little girls more than usual.

I'm not advocating to censor him, you damn retard. I'm stating that Miyazaki likes little girls, because it's fucking obvious. Get smart.

It's true to life that you would be likely to see underwear in those situations.

>likes little girls
Should he hate them?

>see a loli on the street
>gust of wind flips her skirt
>disappointed by her complete lack or reaction

No liking little girls means you want to fuck them of course. It is impossible to just like them because they are cute. It's just western hypersensitivity. Miyazaki has publicly attacked lolicon but that doesn't count for anything of course. The fact that he likes using young girls as protagonists and doesn't shy away from depicting realistically things that may make some audiences uncomfortable in modern society makes him a pedo.

He's just a purist.

If you dedicate your life to drawing and animating and then some guy comes along and show you how amazing computers are you would probably be dismissive too, because you didn't dedicate your life to computers so from your perspective it just looks like this awful thing that is out to murder your craft. To somebody that understands both there is no reason the two can't live in harmony and likewise to somebody that doesn't understand what goes into traditional animation using a computer to shit out garbage like the Berserk anime would seem like the superior choice.

He is also completely justified in hating moeshit. Moeshit is basically softcore child pornography.

He doesn't hate moeshit though he's never even mentioned it.

>hurf durf he's just a pedo realist
>hurf durf other directors don't show nearly as much naked little girl booty because they aren't hyper-realist because realism is all about naked little girls
Why the fuck are you trying to censor Miyazaki's preferences? The guy likes little girls, get over it.

Because no matter what happens Miyazaki is only where he is because of Disney.

He has no truly artistic works to his name because all the Ghibli films that are respected and lauded by critics and film historians were done by other directors, his only organic hit Totoro will never be as big as Doraemon in Japan, he has to share Laputa with the rest of Ghibli, he never had a phenom success like Tomino with Gundam, he'll never have a film that's truly respected as a film like Honneamise, he'll never be as good as Takahata to the point where he's bitter enough not to correct people when they say that he(Miyazaki) directed films that were actually done by Takahata, he'll never surpass Tezuka, animators across the industry hate him and working with him, and his only claim to fame beyond what Disney made for him is being the grumpy old man that hates Otaku.

Even the one style hack Anno has a deeper and more varied career than Miyazaki thanks to his stint as a B film director.

>all the Ghibli films that are respected and lauded by critics and film historians were done by other directors
That's just false. Take a look at the Laputa 150 list. Greatest animations as votes on by Japanese critics and animators. Miyazaki dominates it. Future Boy Conan at 6, Totoro at 7, Nausicaa at 16, Laputa at 19, Cagiliatoro at 20.

Just wait until you're old and you've watched the world get dumber and lazier with each successive generation. You'll be bitter too.

>you've watched the world get dumber and lazier with each successive generation
As if. People have always been dumb and lazy, it's just that most people don't really realise it until they grow older and wiser.

Are we really on Sup Forums? As far as I know Miyazaki wasn't refering to his friend solely because he found it offensive. They were at an animation meeting. He pointed out how much the CG test they were presenting, automating strange and monstruous movements, basically produced graphically painful movements without dedicating any form of empathy into it.

It's not a matter of how zombies are offensive because they're reminding you of somebody you know, it's about the work and spirit behind an animated work, and what meaning it holds when you will be incorporating it into a narrative work. Miyazaki is all about telling a story. If you want to make something monstruous and painful to watch, you have to feel commited to that. We can't have an industry where we don't take the feelings and emotions conveyed by animations (and animators) seriously.

Then maybe this procedural animation could be used in a video game to ease budgets and time limitations, but you're mistaken if you think this matches Miyazaki's standards and expectations.
