Huge territory, centrally located, PLENTIFUL natural resources including oil, WORTHLESS government + military who would not stand a fraction of a chance. Hell, we might even get half the Mexican people to fight on our side. And the other half would be killed during the war. After we win we don't even have to make them states. We just treat them like Puerto Rico. We make them pay for the wall with the resources we take from them. Why not just dominate and subjugate Mexico completely? Seems very reasonable to me.
Why doesn't the USA just invade & Conquer Mexico?
peace treaties and other jewish shit preventing muh (unironic) manifest destiny
i concur 100%
Why the fuck would we want that worthless pile of shit? Build the wall, deport them all, end foreign aid, legalize all drugs, get out of NAFTA, and just watch them collapse from the safety of your own home.
We don't need to deal with Mexico. Also, we didn't take more land because Baja California had a huge Mexican population along with the northern states.
Maybe if we took it in the Mexican war, it would be worth it.
If we are talking about manifest destiny, Canada is the way to go.
Let the Mexicans rot in their shitty nation.
I know right? building the wall on that small land bridge would be much cheaper.
Just kick all the mexicans into what's left on the other side of the wall.
Should have done this in the 19th century, and then given it to the blacks after the Civil War as a buffer zone.
I know this is a shitpost but...
1. Actually invading Mexico and administering the country would cost a fortune, far more than we would make from it.
2. Mass riots both from Mexicans and our own people.
3. The invasion would signal to other countries that it's okay to invade one's neighbors (causing a global meltdown).
4. Sanctions against the U.S. very likely
5. Cultural differences between the U.S. and Mexico means we could never truly enforce our rule. A union between the U.S. and Canada is far more likely, and will likely not happen in the foreseeable future.
There were talks of the Confederacy invading Mexico/the Caribbean once they one their war in a hypothetical scenario. But such things are generally frowned upon these days. It's far more profitable to keep Mexico as a trading partner than it is to annex them.
country
how do you imagine conquering and occupying country with population of 120 million people?
2 reasons, one is that the ambassador doing negotiations felt bad for the Mexicans and refused to push for all of mexico and secondly because the southwest was mostly empty except for a few mexican towns and nomadic indians while there were a ton of American settlers in Utah and Los Angeles and there was all that land that Texas wanted to take too, basically we only wanted the parts with a lot of Americans
And then later we did the Gadsden purchase to round it all out
