I don't think Kars was that bad, honestly.
Wamuu and ACDC both had concepts of honor (ACDC being ashamed that he betrayed his but willing to do so for his comrades, and Wamuu never betraying his) and it's arguably what got them killed. Kars never insults THEM, he does however become jaded towards the warriors code that Wamuu had because it got him killed. When his vampires speak ill of Wamuu, Kars shows his grief and rage by killing them, and goes on to stop at nothing to try and avenge his men and make their sacrifice worth it.
