Alcohol has been consumed by humans for thousands of years. Marijuana and other illicit drugs, which alter neural pathways and may have detrimental effects on the brain and thus society, haven’t. Almost everyone that smokes weed is a degenerate. I don’t think it’s a coincidence.

Hashish and marijuana go back centuries. The greeks used it in saunas. Arabs invented hash before Jesus was around. Opium is older than beer. Cocaine was really a thing the past few hundred years but even then that's not exactly a reason why something should be banned. There are prescription drugs that do more damage than a lot of this stuff made the past ten years. Almost everyone who sleeps around is a degenerate, so why shouldn't premarital sex be banned?

The law exists to facilitate an environment where society can function properly. Why should the law serve at the pleasure of your desire to consume drugs that society has determined are detrimental to itself? The notion that drug consumption is a victimless crime is completely contrary to the preponderance of evidence.
