Absolutely. I can't believe some people actually like this trash. I guess nostalgia does that to you.
You lack appreciation for greatness
The ending is yeah. The parts where you can see Noriko's friend aging was much more interesting and depressing.
No.
I do think a lot of the first half could use a rewrite, but the second half is powerful enough to carry the series as it is.
Of course. One of the episodes isn't even in color ffs
MUSASHIIIIIIII
You don't have enough with shitpost on /m/ that you have to open threads on Sup Forums so all the ironic weebs can agree with you in that Gunbuster is shit? wich they will do because they hate mecha and anything pre 2007
It's the other way around. People who hate mecha love Gunbuster, or all of Gainax's mecha at that.
It's Tomino that non-mecha people hate.
The mecha space opera is a framing device, Gunbuster is actually the top of tennis shoujos.
nobody unironically dislikes gunbuster.
this. gundam sucks.
Gunbuster is overrated. Almost everything about it is incredibly run-of-the-mill, formulaic, and mundane, and I don't at all understand why it's looked up so highly, when it's reasonably only kind of above average compared to other mecha series and anime ova's. On the contrary, Diebuster is fantastic, interesting, and fun. Let's do a quick comparison based on the openings.

Here's Gunbuster. Completely average power-pop and training montages. Straight out of every predictable 80's movie ever made. There's not exactly much you can determine from this.
youtube.com
Diebuster. Immediately way more upbeat, energetic, and interesting. The audience can see right away that this is a whimsical and energetic series, punctuated with more likable characters, with a sci-fi backdrop.
If Gunbuster was a love letter to 80s mecha and sports anime, what does that make Diebuster?

try to be a little bit more subtle if you want (you)s I won't even give you one for this.
Diebuster took the foundations of the primitive and banal stock premises of the older generations, and renovated it into something more original, and a more genuinely viable entertainment product on its own merits. Diebuster is a loveletter to all the schlock of the past, by refining and garbling it all together.
Why can't Gunbuster and Diebuster bros just get along?
The part where they ran out of budget is absolute anime kino.
Pure imaishit.
someone post the image with ace wo nerae gunbuster diebuster and the jesus paintings
There are people who dislike it, therefore it is underrated.
Yes. It is always funny to see Eva pseuds praise it when it is the trashiest shit of its era.
Massively.
The ending's not supposed to be depressing. At most maybe bitter sweet but it's a beautifully joyous occasion because it mean they're fight was worth it
>On the contrary, Diebuster is fantastic, interesting, and fun
Literally lol
