>tfw too retarded to learn majhong
i would if i knew how to play, tried watching akagi and it scared me about mahjong
>tfw started playing in '09 and had a 2nd dan account, but a few years ago I stopped playing for a while, and tenhou deleted my account due to inactivity
>and out of pride, I refuse to use tenhou anymore
>but I get a mad itch whenever I see threads like this
old SNES and GBA games can only entertain you so far...
>getting to 2dan
>hard
Didn't say it was.
It's more like, it was a really old account. Like 5 years old or so. And they flushed it because I was too busy to play for half a year.
Fuck tenhou.
The other day I lost my password and it took me only 100 games to get back to 2dan. And I suck at this game. Go ahead and play tenhou again user.
I'm too retarded for this game.
You should channel your inner lesbian when you play.
>spare user's life
>suddenly comeback
that's was nice
hope you learned a valuable lesson, never loosen the noose. cuck play
Inner taco is the best I can do.
No, let me sleep.
Damnit, you caught me at a bad time user. Maybe some other time...

Stop playing sanma faggots.
They are disgusting scum. Not worth playing with anyways.
What's the best way to learn hands, along with how in the fuck scoring works? This is the only part of Mahjong I can't seem to grasp. Any decent guides?

It takes repetition to know the yaku (hands). Games against the AI, especially with an app, would help. Some kind of yaku list can help as a reference.
As for scoring, don't bother with it, until you've learned the game well-enough.
arcturus.su
Just memorize a few of the easier ones, and go for those every game. Play a lot, and progressively add more yakus to your repertoire.
As for scoring, mahjong.wikidot.com
Personally I'd only bother with memorizing the limit hands (5 han or more).
I'll try both out, thanks.

What's the highest possible yakuman you can have in normal rules?
Suuankou tanki + Daisangen + Tsuuiisou counts as 4 yakuman under some rules, that's the highest one I know of.
Suuankou with pair wait (double yakuman) + Daisuushii (double yakuman) + Tsuuiisou + Suukantsu/Tenhou (I'm not sure if you can get both of these at the same time).
In any case, this is a 6-fold yakuman worth 288000 points for the dealer.

Stupid question.
Let's supposed I have a hand with 1-man, 1-man, 1-man, 2-man, 3-man. Does these 5 tiles count as 1 set (1-1-1 or 1-2-3) or do they count as 2 sets? (1-1-1 PLUS 1-2-3)?
Yeah, I have no idea of how to play this game.
3.4
1 set
Not him but say the rest of his hand compared of 4 pairs along with that setup, he would be able to win off a 1 or 4 man wait, right?
Asking as someone with a very rudimentary knowledge of mahjong from FKMT manga and starting to really get the itch to learn how to play the game.
I don't think so. It's either 7 pairs or 4 sets + pair
Didn't notice that when I saw them construct their hands. So if the rest of his hand was two complete sets and let's say a pair of honor tiles, he would be able to declare Riichi and wait on a 1 or 4 man tile?
If theoretically the rest of his hand consisted of say a 345 pin and a 234 sou with a pair of haku, would this be a good/complete hand? Would it be a yaku or would it not consist of enough han?
Again apologies if the answer seems obvious or stupid but I only learned some of these terms recently because I just read the 17 steps variant gamble in Kaiji (just to say I fully understand that's not how actual mahjong is played and it was very simplified and skipped several steps to make it into an intense one on one gamble).
I just finished reading 17 steps yesterday.
>This fucking page
>all Achiga-Hen BD torrents are dead
Fuck. I just wanted to watch enko queen again.
Kaiji was such a major shitlord about winning that gamble it was glorious. I was wondering though, was he just relying on luck for the haku to come into play that game/eventually or did he cheat to make sure it did? I got kinda confused there.
He could also win with a 3rd honor tile, as then he would have 345 pin, 234 sou, a honor triple, 123 man and a pair of 1 mans.
It would be a valid winning hand if he either declares the riichi, his hand is entirely closed and tsumos, or if the honor pair are tiles suitable for yakupai and he wins on the 3rd one.
I get the impression that it was pure luck, he stated that "the gamble was getting the fake haku in one of the side walls". He also needed for both himself and the president to have at least 1 haku each. So it seems like a lot of luck was involved.
Also, what happened to Miyoshi and Kaeda? I'd expected their betrayal to be brought up again at the end but that whole subplot is pretty much dropped after Kaiji bbeats them up outside the door.
>He could also win with a 3rd honor tile, as then he would have 345 pin, 234 sou, a honor triple, 123 man and a pair of 1 mans.
I didn't consider that possibility, so with a three tile wait (albeit one is very unlikely since there's only one other 1 tile in the game) that would be a pretty solid hand wouldn't it?
>It would be a valid winning hand if he either declares the riichi, his hand is entirely closed and tsumos, or if the honor pair are tiles suitable for yakupai and he wins on the 3rd one.
If say he also had the dora in his hand that would only matter in point value at that point right? Or would it allow for more opportunities to win? Let's go full absurd and say that the dora is 1 man.
>Also, what happened to Miyoshi and Kaeda? I'd expected their betrayal to be brought up again at the end but that whole subplot is pretty much dropped after Kaiji bbeats them up outside the door.
What happened to Miyoshi and Maeda is the same as others who betray Kaiji: they are fucking dead to him and he doesn't care anymore. The two of them were desperate, gullible, and stupid people which is why they ended up in the underground labor camp to begin with and how they ended up as long term 45ers.
They are ungrateful pieces of shit and natural bad gamblers so they are prone to stupid decisions. Kaiji doesn't fully blame them because of the warping effect money has on people, but he still was hoping that the 45ers all held a bond that such petty shit and simple talk could break. He's done with them and doesn't care what happens to them after that, he told them off and got to hit them he now just never wanted to see their traitorous faces ever again.
I don't know if they come back in the future but I'm in the middle of the savior game and I don't see any reason to address them every again or at least any time soon.
Why is Akagi so wide?
He looks like a space marine.
Does anyone know when the new Kaiji chapter comes out? I need to know if Kazuya dies .
I was wondering why 7447 was suddenly full.
Calling a kan (even closed) interrupts the current turn I believe so you can't get tenhou, ippatsu or daburii for example.
>I didn't consider that possibility, so with a three tile wait (albeit one is very unlikely since there's only one other 1 tile in the game) that would be a pretty solid hand wouldn't it?
It would be much better if the 1 mans were 4 mans instead, but it is still pretty decent if we assume that the honor wait is not completely dead yet. Even though it doesn't contain any yaku by itself, it still is a pretty good hand if you manage to obtain tenpai fast enough and declare riichi.
>If say he also had the dora in his hand that would only matter in point value at that point right? Or would it allow for more opportunities to win? Let's go full absurd and say that the dora is 1 man.
Even though dora provides additional han it is not concidered a yaku, so dora by itself is not enough make a hand valid.
I used this a couple of weeks ago.

So ideally that's a good hand if you manage to draw it early on, no one has discarded 1 man, 4 man, or the honor tiles yet? So it would be a safe hand to call riichi if it's early in the game and wait for a good draw to call tsumo or call ron if they get discarded? But if it's later on and several of those tiles have been discarded or were the initial dora indicator then it wouldn't be as safe a hand and I'm figuring it would be smarter for the player to try going for a different wait?
>Even though dora provides additional han it is not concidered a yaku, so dora by itself is not enough make a hand valid.
Okay now I think I understand, in seventeen steps it was more crucial since your tenpai had to be at least mangan in order to win. The dora itself wouldn't contribute into making a valid winning hand it comes into play when deciding a winning hand's worth and just how huge the payout will be.
