It's amazing how much has changed since the 80s. For those of you who were at an independent age in those days, what were those of us who were born in the 90s and up really missing out on?
I was born in the 90s and didn't really start paying attention to anything really until the 00s. Looking back on things like music, malls, people in general from back then is amusing to me. It would be funny making the adjustment to living that way. Word wouldn't of traveled that fast like it does today, but honestly I don't think people were meant to really ever have something like the internet. Lies spread too fast and people in general are really stupid.

Born in the 60's, when I was in high school when a cop found us passed out, drunk in the street, they'd drive us home, not beat the shit out of you, then toss you in jail.
Plus we'd go drinking in the US after last call here, grab a bimbo, fuck her in the car, and chase closing time until we got back to a border, then drive home drunk.
No AIDS, no herpies, and the worst you could get was the clap. Which wasn't resistant to penicillin.
It was glorious.

We had privilege. The privilege to live, work, and play without thinking about blacks and browns attacking us or causing trouble. You'd see them on the news destroying their ghettos but there was little reason to go to those areas other than perhaps a professional sporting event. We did however live under the constant threat of nuclear destruction from the USSR but that still wasn't as bad as today's nigger infestation.

Grateful Dead Tour , no islamic terrorism, no Black Lives matters or SJW shit ..

99% of women were fit. A linked video to the one OP posted shows the infantcy of the fat acceptance movement. You can see how different the attitudes towards fat people was back then when Mike Wallace pretty much admits he wouldn't hire a fat secretary. This was on a national tv program by a highly respected journalist and no one cared that he admitted to being anti fat.

>smoking
>smoking inside
>smoking around children
How the fuck can people be so horrible?

>No AIDS
What? That shit was born in the 80s.

Not politics. Die. Sage grows in all fields.

>That shit was born in the 80s
Yeah but it was called GRIDS then and only asspirates got it.

It's amazing how race relations have gone to shit. From my point of view things seemed decent up until the end of 2005, and then the election of Obama.
I found the smoking to be funny. My Mom went to high school/college in the 70's/early 80's, she doesn't smoke a ton, but did back then and comments on how different shit is now. I remember going to luby's as a kid and there being a huge smoking section. After sometime it got whittled down to a corner and finally taken out.
Fuck off. People need to remember what made those days good so we can avoid anymore of this nigger tier shit we have today.

>I don't think people were meant to really ever have something like the internet. Lies spread too fast and people in general are really stupid.
This x1000.
People in general are indeed really stupid. Worldwide, publicly available internet was a mistake.

Man, I really don't miss the days of smoking in restaurants. It's been so long I almost forget it used to be a thing.

tfw no Luby's in PA

I was born in 89 so I only got the very tail end of smoking in restaurants and by the time I started it was basically banned in 95% of the places I'd want to do it. Wish I had never picked up that shit in the first place.

Can you believe this faggot?

Diagnosis of major swing towards leftism

1 hippie generation, rewrote history to suggest they "saved" the west in 1969. Claimed that the cold war, korean and vietnam wars, reagan and nixon were all evil. Laid seeds for leftist takeover of all media, hollywood and school systems.

2 - neo hippie era of grunge rock. Childish upper class kids becoming "woke" from Rage Against the Machine lyrics and Nirvana fake teen angst in the most successful peaceful country in history.

3- i had to check out of modern pop culture to see this - things got really bad quickly in the obama era. Hippie era round 3. Really scary with the internet paranoia....leftists can now delude themselves into any reality they want.

If u go back 10 years and watch a movie or hear a radio show, things werent that weird.

This era is insane, the sjw witch hunt is terrifying. Muslims and blacks are committing atrocities and you will have your life destroyed if you even publicly mention this.

What im saying is 80s and 90s werent that different. 2006 to 2016 is low key the biggest change in my life.

Born in '66, graduated HS in 84. A lot has changed. Back in high school, whites and blacks got along. Lots of my friends were black. The big difference were they all had dads at home.We smoked pot at school lunch. My high school had a smoking section for students. I never minded the smoking inside thing. I worked at Radio Shack, we would smoke at work. The internet really killed everything. Cell phones too. It was great to go out at night, and look for your friends, you couldn't call em, you just drove to all the regular party spots to see who was there. If you needed to call home, you used a pay phone. Your parents had no way of getting a hold of you, so they would stay up worried if you were late.
True, there was the no VD thing, but most girls were very reluctant to put out, not like today where they are all sluts.
You actually had to study and do homework.. no google, you opened a mother fucking encyclopedia to look shit up.

And less ranty take - smoking, lol. They had smoking in airplanes and shopping in the mall. 18 year olds could smoke between classes in high school. My college had a smoking section in the dining hall.

>It's true
>All of it
I lived in an area with three neighborhoods, all connected by woodland paths. I'd get up in the summertime and trek through the woods to meet up with friends. Sometimes there'd be porn mags or rare beer cans laying about on the trails. We'd play pick up football or something unless the weather was bad, and then we'd get fed by our friends' moms. After - if we were lucky - we'd get some degenerate to buy us a six pack from the local beer store and catch a little buzz and talk about girls and life in general.

Some nights we'd hit the mall and see if we could pick up some girls to come out with us and chill and party somewhere in a clearing somehwere. Mini-skirts, leg warmers and teased up hair.

Was good times for sure. There's some things that are better now, but the complications aren't worth it. Ignorance was bliss.

Fucking This! Born in 82. It seems like things really went to shit after 9-11. That was the acceleration point for debasement and degeneracy.

I don't know how we fix this without full scale revolt.

Dude, you are completely right. I forgot about that... There was always porn mags in the woods. Why?

Dead at MSG. Concerts in general. Better music. No cell phones—the most antisocial device was a Walkman. Everything, except gas, was pretty cheap. Even had a movie theater in my town that charged a ticket price based on the year...1984 84¢, ‘85 85¢, etc. You could smoke everywhere including theaters. Theaters were a totally different experience then, sneak in booze, party with an all-white audience.

Can confirm. Born in 67, hs class of 85. It was glorious. Went to college in second half of 80s and it was even better.

Watch the movie Casablanca. Every scene is filled with smoke. No one bats an eye.
Born in the late 60s. Never ever had anyone comment on smoking until 1999. I remember the day someone said something to me about smoking and it was on the street.
Smoking bans killed the bar scene dead.
In England pubs that have been open 100s of years closed down. Don't remember the exact numbers but it was over 25% of all pubs closed.
I remember the years leading up to it and there were big campaigns of people saying that if you ban smoking profits will go through the roof because non smokers would go out. Of course no one that actually had a social life believed that. Turned out that all the "non smokers" never came to the bars and they all closed up.

Funny thin is most of the bars and clubs where always 50/50 smokers non smokers..

If I could pinpoint when everything went to shit it was that. The smoking bans. Why ? Because people saw that if you whine loud enough you can change the law..

Today's epidemic of passive, effeminate soyboys are a direct result of the smoking bans of the 90s .

FACT

No SJWs?

youtube.com/watch?v=ygNnyHZ12cs

They were all over the place in the 60s

I never figured that out, but it made my day when I found a Club International or a Swank on the trail.

I never thought to question it. I just appreciated it.

The no internet, no cell phone thing was funny.

"We're going to this guys house, on Maple street later. Meet us there. You turn left when u see the weird tree at the edge of the highway".

Its 3 towns over but you wont know what town you're in without a gps anyway. You cant call them and they cant call you. Because you're in a car. Where theres no phone.

Some nights you would just lose people, like they died in a retarded war.

Lol! So true. I guess kids snuck ‘em out to their hangouts and passed them around. Nicely trimmed bush still the best. Towards the end of the 80s is when the pedo shaving started.

Are you kidding? the 60s was the free love era. That and the earlier 70s was also the era of lots of racial tensions and groups like the Black Panthers becoming popular.

Yeah, I would sneak em in whenever I found them, in my bedroom closet was the hot water heater, I used to hide em all behind that heater.
Porn was precious back in the day.

I wouldn't know about the 60's. But in the 70s and 80s in Florida everything was pretty chill. And you really had to work to get a high school girl out of her pants in 1982

Yeah I really miss a nicely trimmed bush.
Man I miss going out ervery night. I went out almost every single night from 1985-1992. Drinking dancing, dressing to the nines. Everyone looked great. Today its all dead dead dead.

Did you guys see that Black Mirror San Juinpero episode ? Man that made me SOOO nostalgic.

I was in junior high in the 80's. I remember one night this hot babysitter came to watch my sister, so I stayed home and my friend came over. Then the babysitters friend has a freakout in downtown Chicago, so we all cram in a car to go and pick her up. Well, along the way we get a flat tire, we crash a blues bar, we get chased by a criminal. It was nuts. But everyone was so nice, and nobody cared what race you were.

I miss the 80's.

I could buy my mom cigarettes at the store when I was 10 in 1986! She would write me a note with a phone number and off I went!

Yup, monday morning at school...

"Dude, what happened to you guys?"

...

well duh the country got flooded with fucking foreigners what the fuck did you think was going to happen

I'm talking about the 1964-1972 era. 1973 and 1974 were iffy. You didn't have to work hard in 1972. Many students were SDS wannabes and communism was in vogue.

>They were all over the place in the 60s
Yeah, but they were harmless faggot stoners.

The problem with the 60's is all the whores who - in their drug induced hazes - birthed children who wound up latch key kids with no fathers. If you want to find the root of today's problems, that's it right there. It's not niggers or spics or whitey - it's feminism. No male role models for young men. All that was there to look up to were movie characters, rock stars, and athletes.

t. former latch key oldfag

Soyboys wouldn’t be a thing in the 80s. There were needs but they weren’t faggots and still tried to get laid—see every John Hughes film. Even fags weren’t faggots in the 80s. If someone was gay they kept it quiet. Allowing boys to have feminine affectations like they do today is creating a generation of mentally ill boys. This is the worst social experiment that I’ve ever seen in this country. The fucking neoliberals did more damage in the last 8 years than all the wars of the 20th century did to the psyche of young American men.

I feel like human being like this don't even exist anymore.

Could be worse. Here in the States legal age for a beer is 21. Downright uncivilized.

I was in highschool in Florida in the 80s. Man what a blast it was. We'd go out every single night since I was 16. We'd end up seeing our parents out at the clubs and they'd buy us all drinks.

My parents used to have these great cocktail parties int eh 1970s. Man those where cool. Burt Baccarach on the console record player and everyone with a cosktail in their hand.. What great times.

Yeah well.. you guys got me all sad and nostalgic.
I remember one night me and two friends stayed out all night, we all were "spending the night" at each others houses. One of my friends had a Fiat X/19, only two seats, we drove that fucker around, 3 crammed in the front. That was an epic night. What an adventure. Watched the sun come up on Daytona Beach.

>Grateful Dead fun
>complains about SJWs
Jesus fucking christ, the irony is pulpable

>people were terrified of the very real possibility of nuclear holocaust at any moment
>AIDS epidemic
>Reagan, King of Neocons, decided to grant amnesty to millions of illegals; the final nail in our demographic coffin
>He also was the one who conceptualized NAFTA
>Rock/popular music was in its most nigger-tier phase, openly focusing on nothing more than sex and drugs and partying across the board
>Fashion was absolutely shit-tier, women looked like literal clowns with the gigantic frizzy hair and makeup styles

The 80s were shit

I was in first grade in 72. I wasn't paying very good attention to the social climate.
But I remember my teacher, who was black, had a map of vietnam, and was showing us where the different units were deployed.

Jews showed how effectively they control public policy.

remember the U.S. was 90% white in the 60's

Yeah. You, me and all my friends that saw it. We graduated in ‘87 and we all still stay in touch daily. They stayed in NY and I moved to Florida in ‘95. They’ve remained left-leaning, somewhat supportive of Trump for his economy but those two guys still believe all the MSM lies and it makes me sad that I can’t dissuade them.

it was a completely different world, of excess, fun, adventure, expression, excitement, wonder, optimism for the present and the future, extroversion, friendship, socially and politically it was more about people then today, where its about image, status, conformity, social media, etc. Then again, the 80's also had a very materialistic, and status worshipping/centric side to it as well. Politically the 80's was just more about "the people", the common people, the working people, people around you that you know in general and interact with of an everyday basis. That can be seen in some of the music, australian american and british, like midnight oil, john farnham, to give you some australian examples, bon jovi an american example. A kind of theme of working class people, democracy, the voice of the people that sort of thing. On the other hand you had the reagenites and the politically conservative side of the 80's too.

The 80's was a street wise era and that had its dark side too, it could be dangerous, cold, seedy, exploitative. Lots of drug problems. Prostitution, run aways, lots of young people around which included a trouble element. But that was just a sypmtom of another way the 80's was different to today, which is that today we have an aging population, where as in the 80's there were more young people, and it was just a more youthful, young era, young people were represented and had a voice in the media and a presence in day to day life, unlike today where teenagers and kids are shut up indoors behind their screens and kept well in check by their parents and the older generations. The older generations today are much more dominant over young people in terms of like, 16-3ish being very much dominanted by boomers and old fucks. Youth had a much more dominat presence in the culture and thats why you'd see even the older people get influenced and took on a more youthful and hedonistic lifestyle.

where at? I went to Seabreeze HS in Daytona Beach Fl

This is from 1995.

wew you are totally wrong, crime rates were higher and the 80s were plagues with violent race riots by the blacks. everything after the 60s is shit

This mall still exists. Full of niggers (standard & sand varieties).

Didn’t the babysitter die?

The boomer cries out "I'm not racist" as he destroys your country.

fuck, I can't read that. I am 51 years old now, and I can't see shit. I am on a 13 in laptop

That's a meme. Very few people in the 60s actually used drugs or had promiscuous sex. 70s were when the byproducts of hippie bullshit started filtering down to the masses.

I was in Sarasota. We'd make trips over to Sebastian and surf and spend the night on the beach and make fires right on the beach. God I miss the 80s soo much.

You know the funny thing is back in the 80's I was one of the few white people in my neighborhood. I don't remember having any issues with the black kids.

We were all just kids. There wasn't as much hostility as there is now. Maybe it was because whites were still a solid majority, or maybe it was because not everyone had a cell phone that was one click away from the latest triggering atrocity.

Actually, life now - if you only judge it by the world around you and not the noise surrounding you - isn't all that different. LARPing aside, people get along for the most part.

Probably one of the big factors is that all the 60's communist-indoctrinated students are now government leaders, senior school administrators, judges, etc.

It was never a threat when it was powerless shitheads screaming for The Revolution but in the past 10 or 15 years they have all come into their own in the high-level positions. Add to that the (frankly rather clever) positioning of stateless capital alongside the "borders are bad" axis and there's now an axis of social change the likes of which hasn't been seen in a century.

I don't know what the fuck to do.

zoom in

Did the same for my grandma. pic related.

Click the name of the picture and it'll open up real big brother.

I love watching music videos from the 80s. They're so carefree and fun. Most of all: they're full of good-looking Europeans!

yup, we drove down to Sebastian Inlet to surf too!
Surfing was shit near Daytona. Ponce Inlet was the closest decent waves, but Sebastian was one of, if not THE best in the state.

Oh man I remember those. My dad smoke Doral Menthols.. lol

Buy one of the big old thinkpads or something with the huge screen. Works way better than those eensy little screens.

It wasn't a meme in Massachusetts of the late 60s.

Oh i have great relationships with all kinds of people, you miss the point.
Its like you are a white family and you bring your hispanic friend to sleepover
but then he never leaves
it was bound to go sour, especially once minorities got close enough to holding the reigns of the worlds most powerful military

lots of yuppies, lots of nightclubs and other entertainment venues, entertainment districts were much more alive and popular and were hyper cosmopolitan areas where everyone of every age and stripe congregated and let their hair down. A lot of older people in the eighties, were just aged out counter culture generation, so the culture was just much more hedonistic and youthful.

Overall it was just a more extroverted, outdoors in the real world, real life time, of adventure and self expression, socialising and partying. People lived and talked to each other, in public places outside, everything was more raw and real, it was gritty, and edgy, it was not the bland, vanilla, feminised, soy boy world of today thats devoid of character and where the streets everywhere just look like outdoor shopping centres. In the 80's the world outside could actually gritty, tough, weathered and weary. All of this had its good side and its dark side.

I had a bud who's parents would let us drink beer and smoke cigs in his basement on weekends when we were 16. We'd just play poker and spin UFO or Rush LP's, get bent on cheap brew and talk about the hot chicks at school or the latest jams.

If we stayed up all night, his mom would come down and scold us... but then have us come up in the kitchen and cook us eggs and sausage.

Other low key funny thing - email 1.0. We got to college in the early 90s and they were all bragging how great their tech was. "Heres an EMAIL ACCOUNT. You can send messages to your professors with it."

We're like "what kind of fag wants to send typed messages to their teachers?" Someone sent a chain letter about Smurfette getting fucked by all the other smurfs and being covered in blue jizz. It was on a black screen with orange letters.

They also had like 30 PCs and like 2 Apples (Macintosh?). You had to sign up separately for the apples. No one could explain why you should use it over the PC. It was just different for no reason whatsoever. Even then i knew apple was gay.

Oak Park Mall 2017

>terms of like, 16-3ish being very much dominanted by boomers and old fucks
*16-30ish

kek. fucking this. so easy to "not be racist" when your country is 85% white.

I and every deadhead I knew was a jock. The flower faggots were numerous but didn’t give a shit about social justice. All of my friends that followed the Dead back in the 80s are all republicans. washingtonmonthly.com/2015/07/03/why-do-republicans-love-the-grateful-dead/

Notice how white it was, it wasn't even that long ago.
I was born 77 and things in my little world in the north east England have changed to fast and not for the better . Sorry for millennials and gen z the only time they will ever see our world as it was is on tv

I got it, so much stuff I forgot about. The arcade! Mastering the track and field game with a comb between your fingers to push the buttons faster to run faster!
Repo man was awesome, that was the first time I saw generic food. I was just talking with my wife recently about where did generics go... remember all those black and white packages?

hehe, I got that. I am an oldfag.

>menthols make your breath smell good

Parents were very hardliner back then. They were against kids drinking or doing drugs or seeing porn or almost anything sex related. Watch the 1950s videos on marijuana if you want to see the attitudes of parents in the past.

I got a gaming desktop, with a 1080ti, and a 32 inch acer predator 4k display. I can see really good on that. I use a surface book in bed to browse the chan.

...

We hung out at the Smith Haven mall on Long Island. Here’s some photo essay on the place in the 80s actually. gizmodo.com/11-photos-of-1980s-malls-that-will-like-totally-blow-yo-1461537182

Very well said.

side note: that channel on youtube has lots of good vids from the past.

hooktube.com/channel/UCfE3ltiBjgjFrNHahfYvnFA

Here goes the late 80's club scene in a nutshell.

youtube.com/watch?v=z0zkZC4sVt8&t=6s

The only Deadhead I ever hung out with was a lacrosse player at Ithaca College. His room was LINED with hundreds of bootleg Dead cassettes and all he did when he wasn't playing lacrosse was smoke weed.

He was like a proto-Millenial. Daddy paid his tuition so he could smoke it all away. Cool dude, though.

The problem is always sorting out your experience of youth (edited in memory) from the actual life of the time. But for kids it was certainly a lot more unsupervised and independent. On the other hand there was shitloads of drugs and fucking, just like ever really. But it wasn't celebrated as openly and degenerately either.

Pluses and minuses, really. But we've entered a dark and dangerous time now with true left-wing extremists determined to provide us all with the life experience of one of their patented social engineering projects. Killed tens of millions in the Soviet Union with this shit, nearly seventy million in China.

Now it's our turn. Hooray.

Middle school was great too. Playing Hunt The Wumpus on the school’s Commodore PET computers.

You lived Adventures In Babysitting?

Born in 1988. The 90s were an awesome time, but when I was in middle/high school everything was already being tainted by the web.
You are all very lucky.

>girl on the left
>girl

Much simpler times...

Everyone listened to the same music, watched the same TV and the same movies. We all went to the same mall, and REMEMBERED each-others phone number.

The world was much smaller... before the internet.

We've gained a lot since then, but we've lost a good bit of our humanity.

it wasn't the web you imbecile

ok, im closing this tab. Nice trip down memory lane guys!

Ah smoking sections, I remember those. I quit smoking a couple years ago but I would like to see smoking sections again.
