Reminder GX had more good than bad.

GX had 13 episodes
Hibiki was only dumb for 2 episodes or so
The rehashed doll episodes only happened 3 times

Therefore the majority of GX was fantastic and GX was a great entry in the series. Not to mention the BD bonus episodes were 10/10 material

Blue and Red are my favorite characters in the show.

I don't need Symphogear to well-written or anything. I mean, the series has been a fucking mess since S1. I just want it to be fun, and GX was unfortunately pretty inconsistent about that. Ver aside, GX was incredibly predictable for most of it.

Whoa, hold up there. S1 was actually pretty well written. While a bit generic, it had proper character plot/character development and the right use of foreshadowing. The shift from that to the rather 'I just don't give a fuck' plot that S2 and beyond had was what turned off a few fans.

Weeks after the end of the "Magical Girl Incident" brought about by the alchemist Carol, the appearance of Alca-Noise have not ceased. While chasing their origin, the Symphogear girls come across 3 new alchemists who stand in their way.

I don't know about that. I'd say S1 felt much more than just a bit generic. The best thing I can say about it is that it was cohesive, and while that puts it ahead of G and GX in terms of writing, it's still a backhanded compliment. And let's not forget how the tone was all over the place. In G the tonal whiplash felt like it was done on purpose (though maybe that's giving the writers too much credit - maybe it was just a fluke that it worked out as well as it did), but in S1 it genuinely felt like they didn't know what kind of a show they wanted to make. The early episodes are selling a very different show from what Symphogear has turned out to be. They did sort of try to tie it all together at the end of the season, but of course by then it wasn't the kind of show that would kill off main characters anymore, so we got a last-minute happy ending.

So yeah, S1 might not be a mess in the same way as G or GX, but I'd still say it's a mess. All IMO, of course.
