Have there ever been any truly autistic anime characters?
Not meme brand autism, but actual autism.

That one girl from Gundam Zeta.

...

...

Akko from LWA.

Actual autism is a meme though. It doesn't exist.

I always considered Shirou from Fate to be autistic. The guy remembers swords down to the tiniest details even there are tens of them flying faster than the speed of a bullet, and he also gets so into the concept of Justice that he blocks everything else out at times, even when it's inappropriate.

And then he fucks the King of England.

ITOKO

ITOKO

Maybe?

The Kanna from Tamako Market

This chick is the only one I can think of who is pretty close to legit. She a cute.

Nah, actually depressed though

...

Ah shit

Constanze's more autistic, and even then it's probably moreso that she's just mute.
Akko is just retarded. Magically retarded because of Chariot.

The MC (Idaho?) from Aldnoah.Zero was on the high-functional end of the autism spectrum, but he was there nonetheless.

Half the fucking characters in Gundam are autistic.

that one K-on girl

Forever unsubbed.

>Actual Autism
That does not exist, autism is a digusting conspirancy, "if you don't act like all the normalfags then you have a mental illness"

...

I know this is no place for this discussion, but autism should not be considered a mental illness. It is a simple neural abnormality and they used to just call it "kind of weird guy".
Some super-autists have to be institutionalized because they do not function, but most are just kind of weird and that should be okay. Diagnosing young children is kind of weird though, all kids under 16 act like they are on the spectrum.

You

...

...

Would you consider DenpaOnna and Haruhi as autistic? Also, every cast of Haganai except, maybe, Kodaka and Maria Onee?

Being "weird" is not enough to be diagnosed as autistic, despite what Tumblr may think. And no, most of them aren't okay. Even the among aspies, who are high-functioning compared to most autists, 80% are chronically unemployed and barely capable of independent adult life.

>children under 16 should not be diagnosed
I disagree. Getting treatment to autistic children when they're young can make a major difference in their development later in life.

Why do people on tumblr want to be autistic? I get that we use it as a self-deprecation thing around here, but they seem to be proud of it.

This loli certainly is

Kirito is pretty autistic irl he didn't have any friends until the VR incident.

Everyone in this fucking show

...

Maybe Tsukiko Sagi from Paranoia Agent ?

snowflake mentality and given that certain kinds of autism make you more skilled in certain things, well you can do the math from there

Not anime but aloe from swan song is full blown genuine autistic.

>well you can do the math from there

Americans should not be allowed access to the internet.

Haru from Free!

Yes.

But I doubt more than 1.5 people on Sup Forums know this show.

There are some theories that this guy has PTSD-induced autism. It would explain a lot.

Wonderweiss from Bleach.

Source? I totally believe you, but the media's really pushing the whole "you can be successful too" to autists, so I've got my doubts.

>certain kinds of autism make you more skilled in certain things
This is such shit. At best it gives you an advantage in remembering trivia on a single (usually useless) topic. If Einstein was autistic, his genius had nothing to do with it.

satania and umaru

>the media's really pushing the whole "you can be successful too" to autists

That's not wrong. People with lighter forms of autism can, through mental effort, learn/simulate enough social behaviors to be functional, so motivation is important. If I were told "You're mentally ill and cannot live like a normal person" and stopped trying, I probably would've been a Chris-chan tier failure by now.

sketchbook thread?

...

yes actually just this season

The use of "autism" as an insult on Sup Forums seem to have made the word meaningless. Almost nothing in this thread goes beyond "cute cartoon quirks" into "actual medical condition" territory.

Sort of autistic, but in an anime-fied way

Real mental problems also I guess a case of literal weaponized autism

I think she might have had legit autism

>muh meaningless words
>>>/reddit/

Cutest and most lovable autist ever.

...

...

Yes, that's another good example.

>Academic studies on global employment rates for adults with autism do not exist, but the UN estimates that 80% do not work. A survey by Britain’s National Autistic Society, a charity, suggests that only 12% of higher-functioning autistic adults work full time. For those with more challenging forms of autism, only 2% have jobs.
Finding precise statistics can be tough because many studies lump the whole ASD spectrum together, but it is understood that chronic unemployment is a huge problem for this group. Some statistics for autists are even worse than for people with Down syndrome for example.
>Another study by some of the same researchers showed that 70 adults with Down syndrome enjoy higher levels of independence, more social opportunities and receive more services compared with 70 adults who have autism.
>Although only 5 percent of the Norwegian population as a whole receives this pension, 89 percent of individuals with autism in the new study receive it, as do 72 percent of the PDD-NOS group.

Hanna from Wixoss Lostorage.

JUST fucking kill me fampai

This annoying retard

If it's any consolation, is right. With enough motivation and persistence, you can improve your life significantly even though it might never be completely normal. I'm so emotionally stunted I don't even how friendship and romantic attraction is supposed to work (I've never felt either), but I've learned enough to hold down a job and live a fairly content life.

That's more like ADHD than autism. Kid just can't sit still for a god damned second.

Possibly Near from Death Note, I suppose.

This, absolutely infuriating. Aoyama deserved to win and it was painful to watch the whole thing

...

Your mom said otherwise.

MODS

why no one posted him
also,u mad witeboy?

I act competently normal, and I pretend to have friends (as is, I pretend to be friends with people at work, but I really don't give a shit about them), and I have no interest is dating or romance at all. I'm not totally sure what it's like to feel most emotions like anger, jealously or offence, I also don't know what love is like, not even for family members. When my grand parents died I didn't react in the slightest and my parents thought it was strange.

I've come to realize I'm just a sociopath. Autism is not the only thing that can lead to no friends or romantic relationships.

As an actual autist this thread offends me

Remember when autists were just weirdos who needed a good beating to correct their behavior?

Well, you're free to kill yourself. No one's going to stop you.

Came here to post this. Fucking eggs. S3 never, martian genocide never.

Main boy in Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun seemed like he was meant to have something like aspergers. Unable to pick up social cues, inappropriate and seemingly erratic behavior, good at maths.

No

...

>Haruhi
Fuck you
