Is Shirou a well written character?
Is Shirou a well written character?
Yes.
No.
No
Maybe
Could you repeat the question?
You shouldn't count on it.
2/10, made me reply.
Shirou is cool!
The deeper parts of his character are well-written if you can get past the way he acts like a standard action-harem protagonist.
>The deeper parts of his character are well-written
Hella fucking no.
Nah
Better than most japanese protaganists.
Yes.
People used to love this dude. What happened?
Granted I never much cared for him either, I'm just surprised.
Yes, and no
Because Archer is
????
As i recall it, people meme the fuck out of him and still do even today.
What changed was that Fate is considered shit today because it's popular.
No. F/SN sucks, good premise but poorly written, too much info dumping. The show isn't much better.
>Archer
Kek. Kill yourself underage.
>poorly written
Explain.
Yes, he's especially better than his dad. It's kinda hard for me to pick between EMIYA and Shirou personally because I consider them the same character, and at the same time they're different.
Well at least it's finally considered what it is.
Yes, he's well written, especially considering both UBW and HF. Obviously there are mental retards that say the opposite just for luz.
Anyways, well written does not necessarily mean likable. The dullness he uses, in many cases at the limit of the reasonable, can make his actions tedious to follow, but the character has a beginning, a goal, and even some great challenges that force his growth, sometimes not for the better. These are all good writing elements for a character.
People watch the UBW anime and think they know anything about F/SN.
The lack of internal dialogues alongside other things butchered his character.
>I need to save EVERYONE
>kills a man
He literally never follows through with his ideals.
Who did he kill? Which route?
Who cares? He's cute af and prime waifu material.
Yes. He's fantastically developed but at the same time a victim of secondary memes for over a decade.
>Kirei in Fate, was willing to kill Shinji
>tried to kill Gilgamesh in UBW
>kills Kirei in HF
>inb4 Kirei doesn't count
Ha! Trick question!
People who use 'well-written' unironically are all sub-80-IQ liberal arts majors who are trying to emulate Ben Crosshaw by pretending that getting an A in their high school English class makes them not completely useless.
They are, however, completely useless, therefore all answers are wrong.
Nobody in the Fates verse is a well written character.
>standard action-harem protagonist.
Secondaries.
Nothing Fate related is "good".
It is extremely popular tho.
Yes.
>the jackhammer.jpg
kek
You misunderstand his ideals.
He wanted to be a superhero who could save everyone and a superhero needs a villain.
That's why Kirei told him to REJOICE, because he will finally find his villain in the HGW.
Having Kirei become the final boss was the best thing that could happen to his life.
>Shinji
He was willing, but did he actually do it? He even felt sad when he actually died IIRC.
>HF
He does betrays his ideals here.
>acts like
Learn to read you stupid twat.
When character says, I want to save everyone, it does not mean "EVERYONE". It means "Everyone that need help".
And yet, in HF Shirou it comes to denying his ideals after a long journey and suffering, so I do not understand what you are talking about, apart from the usual Unlimited bait Works.
Ok as a secondary how did it differ from the anime?
Regardless of execution, the entire plot was fucking dumb as shit, Shirou especially.
Can't believe I watched the whole thing, I'd have been better off reading a synopsis of the VN to gauge my interest in the universe than watch that piece of shit.
Yes, Shirou is awesome.
>the entire plot was fucking dumb as shit, Shirou especially
Explain.
Do you really expect him to argue?
Yes, actually.
Because for some reason people here don't put their arguments in their posts and instead puts it when someone else replied to their post.
Characters were completely one dimensional, especially Shirou and Gilgamesh, and Rin/Saber were quite terrible as well.
Been a long time since I watched it, so I can't remember specifics but the whole 'muh friendship' asspull in the final battle was bullshit. Gilgamesh should have killed Shirou instantly if they didn't amp up the whole villain gloating act to extremes and beyond.
This is common in online discussions. They usually don't expect people to press the issue.
By the way, in the novel, the issues of the damages left by the Servants are somehow developed? Archer goes Full nuclear in the cemetery, It's not exactly something that passes unnoticed.
>Gilgamesh should have killed Shirou instantly if they didn't amp up the whole villain gloating act to extremes and beyond
Gilgamesh's entire character is about him being a smug arrogant fuck
surprisingly it has drawbacks
None of the problems you mention have to do with the plot. All the problems you mention have to do with the fact that you didn't read the VN.
He's gorgeous. If he was real, i would spend the rest of my life with him, helping him to become a real superhero. Ave Shirou!
>I watched it
There's your problem.
He's a good written husband for Sakura, OTP
He chose Sakura-chan
>Gilgamesh's entire character is about him being a smug arrogant fuck
That's very racist, user.
Which I said first thing, VN's are long and nasuverse is huge, I just used the anime to gauge my interest if I liked the style/themes/setting.
Of course he was an arrogant prick, but they laid it on way too fucking thick, it was absolutely absurd.
So you entered the franchise through the worst possible entry point, after everyone told you not to, and surprisingly you left with a bitter taste.
I am amazed at how retarded you are. What kind of outcome were you expecting?
>What kind of outcome were you expecting?
I went in with low expectations, and came out realizing that nasuverse is dumb as shit.
I already knew the anime wasn't good, all I wanted was an introduction to the premise then to move onto the VNs and the nasuverse as a whole if I was interested.
One of them is.
Well, he is one who clearly has a delusion of omnipotence due to being a legendary King with semi-divine blood and virtually uncontested. When someone is so powerful that they can survive any mistake or consequence, the risk of becoming an ass is serious enough,.
I want to be Shirou's imouto
God sake all you disgusting anons NOT APPRECIATING THE BEST CHARACTER: ARCHER.
u 1st
Fuck off underage.
>generic shonen protagonist
>autistic
No
Shiki Tohno is more interesting than Shirou
my nigga
There is already an Archer thread
Shirou isn't even given a chance to be a good character because everything that happens in f/sn is so retarded.
>Archer is portrayed as a bad end for Shirou's character development in FSN
>Nasu completely stops developing Shirou as a character after FSN and instead prefers to write more stuff about Archer instead, sticking him in every spinoff possible
???
That's a Shirou thread though.
Is this some new meme?
Archer doesn't really develop in anything else, he's just everywhere because his design is popular.
Like Saber, whose story was done with the fucking Fate route.
Compared to what?
Shut up, underage.
Wasn't Gilgamesh even smugger than usual because of grail cancer?
Yes, honestly. Nasu's writting might not be very good, but his examination of Shirou's character under the different routes is what truly makes FSN worth anything.
Shirou x Kirei OTP
>Archer doesn't have development in Extra
That's a good joke.
Kiritsugu and Bazdilot in SF are the only characters in the series to actually get Grail cancer.
Gil and Kirei only benefitted from the mud.
kirei and gilgamesh were already dead
Other than being a slightly happier/more optimistic version of him, what development does he get?
No. Nasu has all these characters around Shirou keep saying how Shirou is this and that, but Shirou's actions never reflect any of it. Bad writing.
I thought I read that Gilgamesh before making contact with the mud would've never enjoyed the orphan mana supply juice. Guess I was wrong.
Name a single worse fanbase than FSN. Not even Nasuverse in general, just FSN, and I don't mean nips and their mobage trash, I meant the "actual" fans of the VNs.
You're favorite anime.
I like Shirou
I could write an essay about why i think he is a great character(and i have in other threads)
But to give a short summery
The interactions he has with Archer is what really sells him as a character.
And the built up to the reveal in UBW's was great.
The girls are a big part of his character growth too because they test the ideal he loves so much to the max.
>Saber gives him release
>Rin lets him do what he wants (while keeping an eye on him)
>Sakura breaks him
But in the end even after knowing what he knows and having seen what he has seen nothing really changes.
Any other shounen-esc MC would have found a way to changes things for the "better".
But Shirou doesn't, because he is who he is and nothing more.
Plus i that his old fashion mindset and stubbornness
Never visited the F/GO threads on /vg/ i suppose?
>People who use 'well-written' unironically are all sub-80-IQ liberal arts majors
If you genuinely believe that then you're the one with a sub-80 IQ here
What's bad about /fgog/?
I visit it every once in a while and compared to other generals it's pretty good and doesn't have circlejerky trips bullshit.
>doesn't have circlejerky trips bullshit.
Are we talking about the the same board here?
Granted it is a year or so since i have been in there
Yes. Last time i visited it was yesterday.
Grand Order fags.
They have "nicknames" for shitposters, hunger games (literally /trash/), and fanfic sharing. It's just as cancerous as any other general.
This was comfy to read mane. No homo.
>hunger games
What?
>fanfic sharing
Never seen it, which means that if it does exist it's not the majority of the posters.
>Go into a thread just to see if it's actually not that bad anymore
>Almost immediately get meet by
It's not a good thing to lie user.
>Post not found
How am i supposed to believe you?
...
In Fate he's garbage
In UBW he's a slightly above average protagonist that follows his ideals in a pretty cliche way.
HF is when he is at his best. His ideals are truly put to the test, and he decides to put those ideals behind him to save the people he cares about. HF, in my opinion, is when he becomes his true self.
T-thanks.
What do you mean?
