Chapter 160: Sword and Scar

>Narrator: A man with a tattoo on his back...
>N: And a man wearing a sword...
>N: The police watch silently.

>N: The police are actually just *watching* this extraordinary affair...
>Twigs: "Hey..."
>T: "Huh...?"
>T: "The police aren't doing anything..."
>T: "What are they waiting for?"

I think Twig #4 speaks for us all.

>N: The swordsman thought:
>M: What's this?
>M: Why is everything behind this young man...

>M: White...?

>M: This is...
>M: The scenery of this meeting...
>M: How rare.

>M: The meeting with the boy...
>M: Had a kaiseki banquet spread across the ground unto the horizon...
>M: The meeting with Pickle...
>M: Bedazzled my sight with gold and praises...

Guys what if Musashi had a time machine and a skateboard.

>M: The Mighty One's gold...
>M: Extended into the heavens...
>M: Behind the elderly black magician...
>M: Was the endearing face of a flower garden...

He uses the same "black magic" word to describe Shibukawa as he did the cop with the taser. Not sure why he didn't kill Shibukawa, then.

>M: And, for all of that, somehow...
>M: The sight which I see...
>M: Is white...
>M: Or...
>N: Nothing...?

>doesnt even mention memetobe
What a sore loser

>M: No, no, no...
>M: That can't be, at his young age.
>M: Mmm?

Didn't mean to change narrators on the last line of the last one; ignore that, it's >M.

>M: What is...
>M: This stance...?

>M: This stance...
>M: Will defend against nothing.
>M: It seems that he has great experience with meetings.
>M: Will he throw himself in like that?
>M: What would he do if I attacked him with my sword?
>M: If I blew a poison dart?
>M: If I fired-off an explosive?

>M: Ohhh...

>M: I understand...
>M: This is...
>M: No. Probably...... This...

>M: Well, it is, unmistakably,
>M: This young man's intent...
>M: It is pure...
>M: How pure and beautiful it is!
>M: And, exceedingly gallant!!!

>N: White...
>N: Overwhelming whiteness...

>N: So brilliant...
>N: Such great radiance that, just briefly,

>N: The swordsman closed his eyes...

And we get a new advertisement for the Itagaki thing. That's the only extra for this week. Like I said the other week; they don't even have anything saying "Anime decided" in the magazine anymore. It's odd, far too odd.

End chapter.

What Itagaki thing is that a reprint of an old manga? looks like his old style.

If you've been keeping up, you'd know that; yes. There's one called "Kicker" or "Kickman" or something (蹴人), and one called "Maria".

DOPPO BEST BAKI

Oh, and here's v17, for any who would want it:

I'm getting around to updating the rest of the mega, just hold your horses.

So basically this whole chapter was Musashi's inner monologue after a chapter of narration and Hanayama's internal monologue?

Thanks for the TL.

Musashi's inner-monologue is important here, at least. It shows that he's seriously comparing Hanayama to his strongest opponents. Weird flashbacks like that only happen near the end of things, you know? We don't know what it *specifically* means, per se, but we know that something is coming to an end.

>comparing Hanayama to his strongest opponents
>Ignores Musashi
>Ignores Retsu
Well fuck Musashi too.

As the other guy said - he's probably pissed about Motobe. He'd probably deny that it ever happened if you asked.
>what Motobe I know no Motobe I'm unrivaled you're a sorcerer I'LL KILL YOU

But the thing is Motobe was framed as a true warrior. Everyone else is a fighter. So to me Denying Motobe means he's denying a true fight and his own heritage as a battlefield warrior. Unless I'm missing some characterization because I haven't gone back and re-read anything of Dou.

I dunno what to say beyond "he's being a bitch". The Japanese fans are also questioning the fact that he didn't include Motobe.

Motobe was a trickster. Musashi wants to experience something more pure, and he's found it in the blinding white light of Hanayama's stance with no defence. So Motobe wouldn't fit in this revery of his.

His head is too large

No, you

I still think this fight makes no sense.

Oh well, I wonder if his vision about Baki will change on their next encounter.

He must have seen a sea of 9gag rage faces behind him

From the text, I've just now got a premonition that he will see nothing behind Baki. It's a weird line in this chapter that doesn't have any really clear context; by that, I'm assuming that it'll be elaborated on later.
