No surprises there, I love how all the series popular with males in the western are popular with females in Japan, really makes you wonder what is MANime supposed to mean.
Easton Moore
How about the Y-axis?
Eli Miller
Up: battle Down: gag, comedy
Carter Campbell
Looks like girls have a better taste.
William Collins
I think it's also a matter of comedy, I don't read those manga but I'd bet the ones women like more than men have more silly faces and exaggerated reactions as main comedy, and this is a form of comedy that the west likes more than the usual romcom for guys comedy.
Jaxon Diaz
No, that's mostly a gay shipping matter.
Carson Barnes
What? Pink = Male? Blue = Female?
Xavier Gomez
Rurouni Kenshin, Yu Yu Hakusho, Hikaru no go, Houshin Engi, Saint Seiya, Captain Tsubasa, Prince of Tennis, are included in the series having more female readers in this graphic
Carter Lee
A lot of sports series are read by more females
Juan Johnson
how are there so many fujoshis
John Cooper
Sport anime and manga I can understand being popular among women, but a battle shonen like Yu yu Hakusho and HxH is beyond me.
But I wonder, how popular was something like Inuyasha for example? Is there any data on that?
Thomas Turner
Most girls are fujos by default. It's like asking 'how are there so many guys with waifus', it's just the natural state of being for that gender.
Justin Campbell
Is it a coincidence that manga with a bigger male audience always fall flat?
Christopher Martin
Why would HxH or YYH surprise you, are you retarded? Not only are they full of cute boys, they're full of cute homosexual boys. Of course women like it. And it helps that they're actually good.
Carter Kelly
HAHAAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA
Thomas Martin
Western males should kill themselves for liking fujoshit like Gintama or Yu Yu Hakusho
Asher Perez
Any recent one?
Jordan Kelly
Going for 50-50 ratio seems to make success
Sebastian Long
Same reason why males watch all girl anime.
It's just like guys laughing at josei with abusive badass male love interest while fapping to violent tsunderes.
Kevin Rivera
I think currently only Souma, Yuna and Kimetsu have male majority in Jump lineup.
Angel Cruz
Good ol' Weekly Fujo Jump.
Ryder Wright
>caring about fujo taste I'm surprised that Gintama is #1 for women. I mean it does have a couple of bishie-looking guys, but a lot of time it's also just ugly old dudes or female characters.
Sebastian Ortiz
>Shounen Jump >it's mostly read by shoujo
Carson Morris
Girls are also more likely to vote in popularity polls and shit like that
Boys are less active in that sense.
Adam Wright
>yu yu hakusho fujoshits apparently got better tastes than you
Jason Stewart
It has lots of bishies though, and they get the bulk of screen time. Ugly old guys get their time to shine too, like when Gintoki canonically fucked madao
Jacob Lewis
>nip fujos abandoned SnS I'm never getting my Dojima doujins, am I?
Austin Foster
Why did Bleach tank, then?
Cooper Rivera
It's 2017 and people still ignore the truth that Gintama told everyone years ago.
Girls are the only ones that bother doing votes and surveys.
Ayden Sullivan
Funny how you specify "western males" and seem to think Japanese males aren't guilty of anything.
Carson Morales
It's not surprising. First of all you have to remember that the culture of cute makes Japanese 2d much more likeable to women than the absurdly muscolar manly style american comics have, and then you have to remember that Japanese women don't have the dislike for the 2d industry (and viceversa desu) that American women do.
Wyatt Myers
Pretty sure Souma is omni pandering because there are good looking males
Eli Adams
it's one of those fanbase things that feels completely separate from the actual show if you're a remotely well-adjusted person, reborn was a similar case, although with haikyu, kuroko, and hxh, those are basically designed as fujobait we're talking about the same people whose only interest in durarara is the gay porn based off of one characters overplayed comedic trait and beat hetalia which was at first basically japanese polandball into a dead horse they see remotely well-drawn guys, eat it up, and shit it out they make the guys that pump out precure rape doujins on a monthly basis seem clean
Dylan Clark
They like harem and CGDCT like any refined gentleman
Jace Morales
What's with the fucking Narutard spam from tumblr using Mexicans.
Dominic Watson
>Kimetsu I didn't expect that, it always felt the kind of shounen that's popular with girls for me.
Isaiah Young
You take that back, Hasegawa is still youthful.
Zachary Bailey
>but a battle shonen like Yu yu Hakusho and HxH is beyond me. ! ?
Levi King
Of all the shounen you could have used as an example you pick the one with homosexual MCs from an author who loves LGBT and is married to the creator of Sailor Moon? Wew lad
Carter Turner
Jesus christ how many female otakus are there?
Benjamin Price
Anime/manga is more of a female thing in japan
Ryan Morris
I don't believe you.
Jose Bailey
Well fuck you then
Hudson Stewart
For a magazine directed at boys it seems they have just as much if not more female readers overall.
Isaiah Sanders
So, if this is a tendency in recent years, is because series include now more themes that can interest women, or because women feel more free now to like what they want?
Christopher Howard
Girls are more prone to obsessively latch onto stuff and pour money into all the related merch. Boys just want eye candy to fap to without paying a cent.
Jaxon Reyes
shoujo jump
Robert Hughes
Characters like Ginotoki and Hijikata are always ranked high on polls of who female readers want to marry. It's really no surprise.
Kevin Ramirez
The former. Girls have obsessed over sports shounen for decades, for example.
Jackson Powell
There was a time Bleach was popular enough that people considered it one of the Big 3. Besides the OP info is from 2012, if it were more recent the pool of readers is probably a lot smaller.
Gavin Gonzalez
This only tells me Females are the ones retarded enough to take surveys
Julian Ortiz
Females are more attracted to shonenshit than you'd think. Ironically they are less attached to the genres geared towards them.
Otaku/males only care about SoL, isekai, and idolshit.
Lucas Turner
>pre-diabetic jobless bum >smoker otaku with a bad temper >husbando material
Levi Hill
Half of Love lives fanbase are females They also like cutesy shit
Dylan Watson
I thought Fujos were just a meme. >Looks like girls have better taste. >Kuroko >Reborn I stopped reading Gintama and HQ!!, but I can vouch that these two (and Nisekoi) are the worst on this list.
Asher Wood
I doubt it, the percentage of women reading a series can greatly influence sales
Caleb Foster
It is incorrect that all girls who like Jump are fujoshi. Many are not into BL but enjoy them just like boys do.
Dominic Hernandez
Also, a lot of them are into NL shipping ("normal love" aka hetero couples) and not all of them like BL.
Ian Kelly
Exactly.
Dominic Murphy
>A survey from 2012 Did you come here to post propaganda, tumblr?
Lucas Bennett
>wanting a bland, boring husbando with no flaws No thanks
taste rankings: Japanese females>western males>western females>japanese males
Adrian Ross
>much progressive demographics No, I don't.
Henry Bell
People ironically believe that one piece (which is shit) and bleach are more popular by female readers and Naruto almost as well.
This is literally some nipjew propaganda. It is the same shit as (((sources))) claiming 48% of the games are female.
Joseph Scott
kill yourself
Asher Price
That's the same exact graph from 2012.
Wyatt Brooks
But is not from Tumblr, that is what this person was whining about
Zachary Cox
I didn't even check the filename, though it just further proves. There is just no one else that would be posting about it. It is probably someone trying to collect info for their (yours?) gender studies class, while propagating at the same time.
Luke Wood
I bet you think manga is some niche nerdy hobby in Japan that girls just pretend to like, like video games. It's mainstream as fuck, battle shounen most of all, and it has strong appeal for women. There's no reason to assume a significant gender imbalance either way but if Jump itself publishes the stats there's no reason to deny it either, even taking into account that women are more likely to answer surveys.
Gabriel Martinez
Kimetsu is pure fujobait
Kevin Perez
Propagating what O_o? I think is an interesting subject to be discussed in an anime/manga board.
Liam Garcia
yeah, even some harems like korezombie, I've found out have a lot of female followers if they're funny and cute enough
Leo Garcia
Although anime/manga has some nerdish factor just like gaming it is indeed mainstream. That doesn't mean females are also into it. I would bet less than 20% of shonen fans are female maybe even under 10%.
The reason anime is seen as a nerd thing is because the last decade we have gotten so many shitty pathetic ecchi loli anime. At least that is what I believe. I think it was more normal to be a anime fan during dbz and maybe even the start of the big 3
I do deny these results. I think jump is lying or people are trolling. This would be the same if there was a religion poll on Sup Forums and 55% was Muslim
Carson Richardson
>O_o Just fuck off.
Gavin Miller
>anime/manga has some nerdish factor >talking about anime and manga in one breath in Japan, as if they're the same thing You really don't know what you're talking about, do you? There is a huge difference in how 'nerdy' anime and manga are in Japan. Manga is not anywhere near as stigmatized or otaku oriented, it is mainstream media for normalfags and yes, that includes a huge number of female normalfags.
Charles Walker
Manga is very much a normalfag thing in Japan. It is read massively, especially more popular series. Anime content aside it is even late night, so it is hard to get popular among regular folks. The poll is obviously nothing to go for. It is just a few specific series and in a magazine has been trying for long years to pander to have series that can pass both as shounen and as fujo after they realized how starved the fujo market is and how detected they can be.
Adrian Foster
Did you just ASSUME my gender?
Grayson Sullivan
Okay but do you actually believe one piece and bleach have more female fans than male fans? It is obvious bullshit And you think that "huge" number is close to 50%?
50% of Weekly Shonen Jump subscribers are females, so it's a fact, not a poll
Caleb Foster
>Kimetsu have male majority HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Xavier Hughes
>Toriko 37.3% 62.7%
Dirty fujos not understanding real men.
We Never Learn as well, just look at those nisekoi numbers. Girls don't like rom-coms.
Tyler Walker
Anime Gintama is probably the best thing to come out of Japan uncultured swine.
Tyler Collins
How do I get a fujo gf
Eli Campbell
We're all cute little girls on the inside.
Jose Young
So, let's think how would it be today: >Haikyuu!! 66.8% females 32.2% males (muh bishies) >Gintama 63.8% 36.2% (muh gin-san) >Kimetsu no Yaiba 62.4% 37.6% (muh incest) >The Promised Neverland 56.9% 43.1% (muh norman) >One Piece 51.8% 48.2% (muh law) >My Hero Academia 50.7% 49.3% (muh bakushima) >Black Clover 45.6% 54.4% (muh noelle) >PSI 38.8% 61.2% (muh ???) >Shokugeki no Souma 37.3% 62.7% (muh erina) >We Never 25.1% 74.9% (muh ntr) >Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san 18.2% 81.8% (muh virginity) >Hinomaru Zumou 16.7% 83.3% (muhtherfuckers)
Luis White
I, Sekai. Our protagonist's,named Sekai, last memory is almost? dying in a natural disaster. He finds himself before God who tells him that due to pollution the avatar of the planet, that normally ensures the smooth and safe working of the planet, now is a lot more busy and prone to being able to stop everything. If all were normal everyone would be saved from that disaster or it wouldnt even happen. Sekai was the only casualty. God is willing to revive Sekai after a little trial that would make him a better person. Seeing that he is wasteful and totally not eco-friendly he decides to assign him as an intern to a planet avatar that's getting old and needs help. Deciding to cut him some slack He assigns him to an avatar of a fantasy world since he likes that kind of stuff. The fantasy world avatar, a grouchy old man, after informing him of the problems this magic world is facing, sends him off into the world with little to no help and a list of the stuff that need to be fixed.
As the MC fixes stuff he gains powers relating to the planet. At one point he's joined by an elf girl with some screws loose about eco-friendlyness. Since it's a fantasy world we can create various fantasy types of magical pollution with some of them relating to real world problems. Just thought of this up now just to make a pun with the title
Connor Davis
Take it up the ass, I'm guessing.
Juan Hill
>Hinomaru Zumou 16.7% 83.3% (muhtherfuckers)
sad
Jack Sanchez
>absurdly muscolar manly style american >muscolar How do real muscular men compete against 2D men are perfection?
Nathaniel Lee
>Toriko 37.3% 62.7% Get some taste fujos
Jackson Taylor
never read kimetsu but the most fanart i see from twitter is this dude
Ethan Kelly
...
Michael Sanders
Nah, he's just popular lately.
Carter Richardson
Saint Seiya changed battle shounen forever. Togashi followed the path that Kurumada opened
Kevin Perez
Actually, during the latest year the editors have been forcing writers to write more romcoms for attracting male readers and getting rid of Shounen Jump's reputation as a girl magazine. This implies action/adventure is for girls while romcoms are for guys
