For some prominent examples, you have All You Need is Kill getting a very standard action story everyone wins ending, Dragonball Evo etc. They tend to be either not remarkable or downright shit. Meanwhile, the reverse leads to stuff like Count of the Monte Cristo being some space demon and people dueling in giant robots, le Chavelier Déon where they fight zombies etc.
