S2 was okay, the problem was the story basically involved throwing everything out the window and starting from scratch. It would've made a lot more sense to have S2 be S1 and vice versa.

I've mentioned it before, but if Utah met Rikka, then Sophia showed up right when Rikka and Utah first started dating, it would help to solidify their relationship as Rikka would feel like Utah chose her over this other girl. Then S1's story would start and Utah would help Rikka get over the stuff with her family. Then the series would end with the ending of S1, in which Utah and Rikka are working together to get her back to being normal.

I think it's the opposite. S2 was a direct extension of S1's ending (fuck what's normal, let's do what we enjoy) and it wouldn't have worked in reverse. The lighthearted SOL and cute romance moments wouldn't have had the same charm without seeing the dramatic buildup from the first season, nor would it be as purely enjoyable if there were still dead dad drama looming over it all.

I disagree, I think the LNs dealt much better with Rikka's issues and her relationship with Yuuta, plus she's a lot more likable in them, she becomes insufferable in S2 of the anime.

The Satone kidnapping stuff went overboard but the romance aspect was also done better instead of dragging it far too long like they did in the anime, specially since Rikka and Yuuta are openly in a relationship in vol 2 instead of the unresolved garbage that was anime S2.
