It's funny how people compare this arc to the Land of Waves and criticize it for not being as intense, but when you think about, Naruto was never really in any danger of dying during the fight on the bridge. Sure, Zabuza might have left a few headless preteens in his wake to get Tazuna, but Haku never actually intended to kill Naruto or Sasuke. Zabuza says as much, and this is corroborated by the fact that his senbon are used to incapacitate prey, not kill them outright. I'll agree that the beginning of Naruto and Boruto both have different tones, but as far as risk of death goes, they've been about the same. I mean, how many times has Boruto almost been killed investigating this ghost shit? And it's not like he might have gotten seriously injured if things went wrong, no, that kid would be fucking dead.
