>The re-election of anti-mass migration Eurosceptic Miloš Zeman to the Czech presidency has caused panic in Brussels, with a referendum on the Slavic country’s EU membership possibly on the cards.
>President Zeman won on a platform of fierce opposition to radical Islam and the EU’s plans to impose compulsory migrant quotas on member-states, as well as the bloc’s sanctions on Russia — which he sees as harming European exporters for no appreciable benefit.
>The 73-year-old defeated challenger Jiří Drahoš, a left-liberal academic, in every single electoral district outside the cosmopolitan capital and its environs in the first round of the elections — but figures in Brussels hoped the so-called ‘centrist’ candidates asking their voters to swing behind Drahoš in round two would oust the populist incumbent.
>However, the veteran Zeman was able to see off the former President of the Czech Academy of Sciences after besting him in a series of head-to-head debates, despite the media — with whom he has an even more stormy relationship than U.S. President Donald Trump — constantly bombarding him with now-familiar accusations of being a Russian puppet.
>Zeman’s long-standing opposition to mass migration stood him in good stead compared to his opponent, who voiced half-hearted opposition to the EU’s quotas but suggested he would be open to migrants in “limited” numbers. Polls suggest as many as three-quarters of Czechs are opposed to taking migrants from Muslim-majority countries.
>This victory, following big wins for conservatives, nationalists, and populists in Austria and in the Czech parliamentary elections last year, alongside the rise of the AfD in Germany and the erosion of globalist-in-chief Angela Merkel’s electoral authority, has set the EU elite on edge.
>While officially in support of the Czech Republic continuing its membership of the European Union, Zeman did put his weight behind offering the people a Brexit-style referendum during his election campaign. With the bloc’s approval ratings in the country at an all-time low, this presents Brussels with a real risk of a ‘Czexit’ or ‘Czechout’, before the United Kingdom’s departure is even official.
“>Brexit is a decision that must be respected,” Zeman said on the campaign trail, suggesting that the Czech people should be allowed a vote on their future as well.
>Drahoš’s position had been quite different, with the challenger warning that such a vote could be “very dangerous”, and that the Czech Republic did not have a tradition of allowing its citizens a direct say in politics, like nearby Switzerland…..
Wasn't he supposed to lose 20% to 140% against his liberal opponent?
Jeremiah Ward
Shut Czechia down
Joshua Wilson
He won with 51% Who's ourguy over there?
Blake Adams
>Drahoš’s position had been quite different, with the challenger warning that such a vote could be “very dangerous”, and that the Czech Republic did not have a tradition of allowing its citizens a direct say in politics, like nearby Switzerland….. Oh I see that the defeat of drahos is the defeat of democratic thought in Czech Republic.
Andrew Long
You have no business being a sovereign nation desu. It doesn’t really matter if you choose Czech, Poland or Hungary, but your continued independence is the greatest threat to the Slovakian people.
Jason Evans
if by /ourguy/ you mean a "neo-nazi" as the media likes to call him, then Kotleba it's not like the president can actually do anything, he has no executive power
Isaac Roberts
if Poland, Hungary, and the Czech'ems leave that should end the EU right?
Austin Baker
who cares? they are poor
Elijah Morris
It will be very interesting if they do leave. I would be a bit surprised if it had no effect at all. If nothing else, the remaining countries might be forced to increase their number of accepted immigrants/refugees to make up for the departing countries.
Jonathan Cook
Partially. V4 out basically means that all the "success stories" EU had in the "nu-EU" countries are out, outside of Romanians and their internet.
Which basically means less developed nations will continue having less and less interests in joining and staying in the EU and EU itself would become "big boy club" between Germany, France, Benelux countries, Austria and Italy. For the economy of those countries it will be beneficial in short term, because it means freeloaders are gone, but it also means that communists and greens in the EU parliament have practically all the power they want which will have terrible long-term results. Before brexit they were kept in bay by British and the "nu-EU", now it's only "nu-EU" and if they're gone it's over. They will run their industries and economies to the ground and their demographics will turn brazil-tier in a decade.
That being said V4 quitting is unlikely.
James Mitchell
But but it can't be!
All commies are bad!
Joshua Brown
Just to add complete information about Zeman so you have complete picture
>Former Social Democrat PM >Eurofederalist >Wants to introduce Euro currency >Loves Israel >Wants to support government with commies and a foreigner as a PM >Sucks Putin and Chinese dick
Yeah, ourguy as hell...
Jose Adams
Aside from the Czech's failed attempt to negate the affects of the new firearm directive, is there really any way for V4 to fight for their own sovereign interests within the EU? It seems unlikely that V4 could leave easily, as it could be detrimental to their economies.
Eli Sanders
I don't but Zeman certainly doesn't help it. Not only that he doesn't visit "western" countries that much, he also avoids the V4 colleagues pretty much. He just visits Russia and China by now.
People on this board underestimate Belgium. We have the highest GDP in the entire EU, and unlike the Dutch, we're becoming more and more EU-sceptical. Th current party in power with 30% wants to introduce a green-card system like the US, refugee or not, so there isn't a possibility to ask for gibs. Also Belgium will prob cease to be federal in the upcoming elections and become confederal (like Germany), ensuring that the Communist French-speaking south and Brussels rot with their refugees while the north keeps doing fine. Tension between the people is rising, civilian guard-squads aren't 5 years away from happening
Xavier Brown
>Get rid of gypsies
You mean one of the main group of Zeman voters? :^)
Alexander Lewis
>>Eurofederalist >>Wants to introduce Euro currency Nope he supports Trump and wants to leave the EU
Jacob Allen
What would the EU do if Belgium left?
Thomas Anderson
Yes he supports Trump He's also a eurofederalist, he still says that and he has Scandinavian countries as a role model! That's what he claims about himself, no jokes.
„Jsem eurofederalista. Evropská federace znamená, že EU by měla mít společnou zahraniční a obrannou politiku a pár společných principů třeba sociální politiky. A také společnou ochranu vnější hranice," řekl Zeman.
Oproti tomu Drahoš mluvil o tom, že by byl rád, kdyby Česká republika byla sebevědomým a důstojným partnerem zemí v EU. „Chci Evropu států, které spolu budou jednat, a nebude záležet na jejich velikosti.“
Connor Richardson
We're one of the founding states and we have the capital of Europe. It would mean the end. However, we're too small to leave so it'll never happen. We hate refugees because they take our money and we dislike the EU for it, but sadly the EU brings about wealth so they have the advantage (for now, if a second economic crisis happens anything is possible. We were hit pretty hard)
Ian Long
Hmm but can you vote to make the refugees pay back their gibs before attempting citizenship? I just hate that they get gibs and citizenship both. The Swiss did and it was a good idea. All of Europe should make them pay up.
Charles Evans
>FVD surges with 1000%+ in popularity >Dutch are not becoming more eurosceptical
What did the soon to become dutchman mean by this?
Even our liberal lefty jew infused media is railing against the EU after they announced their censorship plans and banning of the entire dutch fishing fleet because their nets were too advanced.
Evan King
His victory might have actually hurt us. If we had the other cuck for a president for 5 years, many more people could have realised how shit things are. But after this, after Zeman changes nothing or very little for the better, we're gonna get what ever EUSR commie they manage to dig up for the next term.
Jace Miller
What do you mean failed? As far as I know, they'll get to keep their guns and the directive might get overturned in the court.
Kayden Lopez
Germany and communist EU bureaucrats vow vicious reprisal if goyim dare to vote to Checksit and leave the EU, just like how they vow to punish Britbongs for leaving the union
Adrian Martin
It is good. The globalists are the one with a time schedule. They have to create a super eu soon and integrate this with a cucked usa into a world order. But nationalist surges in europe and especially trump scrapping the paris climate agreement has cost them valuable time. If we hold out long enough their window closes and even ww3 wont work.
Xavier Gutierrez
>Czech Republic did not have a tradition of allowing its citizens a direct say in politics, like nearby Switzerland….. Why so dictatorial Lazlo ?
Christopher Lee
Ah, sorry. What happened was the Czech parliament drafted a bill to amend the constitution, making gun ownership a fundamental right like in the United States. Unfortunately it didn't make it through the Senate. They still have gun rights there, just not codified in the constitution in the same was as the 2nd amendment is.
Robert Sanders
What if there was an economic moment between non EU and departing EU countries? Obviously to include Australia, UK, Canada, USA, Switzerland, and what ever other Asian, and American (Central, and South) countries we're all fine with.
How much trade would it take to pick up the slack?
Jose Barnes
Not quite the same, but we have a new rule since 2017 that an asylum seeker has to pay for his own application, only then will the gibs come
Joseph Wright
The EU won't survive as a commie organization, they're getting fucked the next election cycle and they know it.
5 years from now we might be talking about putting sanctions on Merkel's Germany for ignoring immigration agreements.
James White
This won't work, austraia and canada are all too far away to fill the hole. Austria, Switzerland, Poland and the UK won't fill the same hole, but it will keep us from falling too hard. That's not what I have in mind though, I want Belgium to practically block anything that gives the EU more power (this is what the current government does) so that the Commission can't make a move, watch as France and Germany get frustrated (already happening) and civil wars ensue
Isaiah Sanchez
Fuck this putin bootlicker.
Charles Kelly
sorry Dutchanon but Rutten sucks Merkels dick and you know it. There's a reason your country has 3 MP's from a MUSLIM party (!!!) and we don't.
Alexander Ortiz
Agreements are hard to obtain because EU is too powerfull at the moment. If V4, UK and others leave, they might be a middle ground.
Jeremiah Ward
True, but still Belgium leaving is next to impossible since our capitcal is the european capital. But we said Trump getting elected over Hilary was impossible too, so I woulnd't be too suprised
Andrew Johnson
That is a good start though if there are hard times ahead, I think the rules should be more strict and citizens should be put first by making gibs near impossible to get. It's generous enough that they are not currently in a waring country. Maybe that sounds cruel but... Many welfare recipients tend to stay on welfare. Gibs is a solution to no problem.
Adrian James
I have faith when the next economic crisis comes this will happen. We care about money a lot, so we'll see
Brayden Gonzalez
I am counting every little victory for Europe at this point. Even tiny things but that would be a big win.
Christian Scott
Were they really expecting a good little Eurocrat to win after ANO overperformed last year?
What is it with unelected bureaucrats and failing to properly interpret what ought to be “water is wet”-tier events?
Nathaniel Price
Because they're brainlets
Lincoln Ward
Haha, they're literally pulling this out of their asses. They just see support for Trump and objective evaluation of Islam and suddenly Zeman becomes a right-wing extremist in their eyes. Yes, he's a drunk retard with drunk retards in his team, but...
I voted for him, but he's the biggest eurofederalist, former leader of Social Democrats and wants to accept Euro as an official currency. He said multiple times that Czexit is unreal and that he wouldn't support it. He would support a referendum though, but would vote against leaving in it.
Fucking retards. But it's fun to read all of that fake news about him, making journalists literally shaking, that's for sure.
Landon Gomez
Seems like the brusselites have insider info that he's based tho
>he's the biggest eurofederalist yeah, in theory >wants to accept Euro as an official currency not anymore >He would support a referendum though Drahoš would not.
James Edwards
Journalists are generally barely human and deserving of physical removal so I'm ok with this
Joshua Adams
He was certainly more /ourguy/ choice than Drahoš, but not as much as western media try to tell.
