Pre-2000s Sup Forumsnime Thread

Post what you've been watching/reading recently, and what you think, etc.

I've been watching a bit of 60s anime recently which inspired me to make a new shitposting image.

I'm currently trying to decide between watching Saint Seiya or Harlock. Neither looks up my alley, but I need to watch more 70's stuff.

Go for Saint Seiya user. You won't be disappointed.

Well this feels more accurate than shitposting.

Rewatched Crusher Joe on BD. The movie is still great, the OVA is okay.

2000 is still the 20th century though.

>Saint Seiya
>70s

My mistake.

It's still something I'm considering, though.

That's the exact feeling I was hoping to inspire.
In any case Sabu & Ichi is really awesome, I really wish I had watched this sooner.

Find anything good? All i've enjoyed so far is Horus and Arabian Nights

Was watching Ima, Soko ni Iru Boku, didn't take long before I dropped it

>by Toei
Picked up.

Watching Trigun right now and it's great. Love the artstyle.
Earlier this week I've also been checking out Detective Conan (fine but not great) and MSG (surprisingly good)

Why don't they make good anime any more?

They do all the time, like Sakamoto, Kaiba, Mob Psycho 100, Amanchu, Sakamichi no Apollon, and many, many others.

she got what she deserved

Finally getting around to Rose of Versailles. I was trying to watch Gamba no Bouken as well but it's hard without subs.

You gotta see that shit through to the end.

The first line is bait to anyone who knows anything. It's begging you to talk bring up Toei.

Magi Madoka Magica the Movie, just because it is very well rounded amd its been a few years

Personally I like most of the old Toei films. Not saying their great but there's something charming about them and they're interesting as historical pieces. Sabu to Ichi is legitimately good as a TV show though.

Am newfag. Just finished Cowboy Bebop. Was pretty awesome, I'm gonna go back and try and do a little more "analysis" on the rewatch.

I hope they don't go through with the live action remake. If anything, they should continue with the story starting out with Spike's fate nebulous, then he either comes back or stays dead, and definitely do it animu.

Or if they must go back to the original timeline, they shouldn't touch the original episodes and should just do more slice-of-life stuff.

And before that I was watching LoGH. I got just past the point where THEY FUCKING KILLED YANG GOD DAMMIT JESUS FUCK

>Madame Du Barry
That bitch

>Sabu to Ichi is legitimately good as a TV show though
Any good releases? All I can find is TSHS that has it up to 24 with the last release in March.

I've been watching Rose of Versailles with my girlfriend lately since she does an annual rewatching of it. I've fallen in love with it (and Oscar), and I plan on cosplaying Oscar!

Put off watching Macross II until now because it seems to be universally hated it's better than Delta

Why don't they make any pre-2000s anime anymore?

Started watching ZZ gundam for my secret project, and ended up liking it, before the 20 episode mark. Im at 23 right now.

...

Fuck off.

She only lasts like five more episodes. Besides, the entire court is fucked, it's no wonder the revolutionaries decided to kill everyone.

The heart wants what the heart wants.

Watching kimagure and cardcaptor, and I'm really liking the latter.

>secret project
Explain further.

What is it about threads like these that attract such shit?

Planning to watch My Daddy Long Legs soon.
As for the manga, after I finish Oniisama he I'll start Marmalade Boy, and then re-read Sailor Moon.

That's all there is subbed.

I liked My Daddy Long Legs. JULIE ABOTT DESU.

Who 70s here?

Finished Akage no Anne a while back. It was nice. Felt kind of long but definitely worth it. I'm not sure if I should watch the prequel, though.

>not 80s
hue

Where is this from?

But then it wouldn't be a secret anymore....

Can you really not recognise the green guy?

google the filename tard

Shit I'm dumb meant for

I am working on Gatchaman, the 1972 anime. After 70 episodes, it's still pretty good and each episode is still fun, but everything is so crammed up. I barely remember some episodes, otherwise I might as well not have watched it.
It's weird, it's like fun enters my brain and then leaves as soon the episode ends.

I have no knowledge of anime and I don't normally browse this board
And all I can find is porn

Kyou kara Ore wa!!

Watched 2 episodes. It's okay so far for an old anime.

...

loadin up with that freeleech boi

F L U F F Y H A I R

>And all I can find is porn
Well what do you think would happen if you googled devil dick?

This is weird and unpolished, but not the bad kind of weird. and unpolished. Also the only show I know that averts the "prototype robot" = "superior robot" anime cliche this hard.

10/10 OP/ED though.

Haven't seen anything recently, but came really close to starting Battle Athletess Daiundoukai today.
But have too much I've already started on, so even more is a bad idea, and I was too tired anyway. May start another day instead.

>there will never be a bluray restoration of Gunsmith Cats and Riding Bean
FUCK

its not so good

These threads are cancer. So much shit fucking taste.

I hope you are wrong.
I may wait a bit longer and instead try to finish something else. I feel that I should finish Turn A Gundam, but it's slow and not because it's bad.

the thing i enjoyed most about it was a glass mask parody appearing in a single frame

its just a bland uninteresting 90s ova that there are so many of

Currently rewatching it for the 4th time, easily one of my favorite anime of all time. Mari Antoinette best girl.

don't you have some current moeblob shit you should be watching?

>These threads are cancer
Their the only threads where we get to actually discuss some of this stuff and they can expose newfags to stuff they wouldn't have touched otherwise.
>So much shit fucking taste
Examples? Also post yours so we know what standard we must aspire to.

I was planning to watch the TV series. I think that one is older, or about as old.
It's interesting as a sports anime with girls. I really liked Princess Nine, and want more of that

Fuck you talking about, Riding Bean has had a bluray release for almost a decade.

i didnt see the tv and wasnt a big fan of princess nine so youll probably like it

I tried watching City Hunter for an 80s fix, but it didn't quite click with me.

Antoinette was worst girl and her getting completely BTFO in the end solidified the show as one of my favourites.

80s is more meme-tier. Muh fluff.

UC Gundam marathon!
Im almost done with Stardust memories, and then it's on to Zeta gundam. Im hyped as all hell.

Nice, there is hope. Princess Nine looks better, but I like that it has the 90s artstyle. The colours however remind me a bit of Idol Defense Force Hummingbird which is not a good thing, that was not a good anime.

>Antoinette was worst girl

Literally did nothing wrong.

i like the 90s style too which is why these shows annoy me when theyre boring as hell like all they have is the style and even that is only JUST the chara designs

...

>spends half of her tax money on luxuries then kills her people using the army when they retaliate
>did nothing wrong
Pick one.

galaxy express 999

finding it kind of depressing with all the deaths and poverty

I'm finishing up Captain Harlock and then I'll probably catch up with the seasonal garbage I'm watching before picking something off my backlog.

Good shit. Have you read it already or not?

No, I don't like reading on a screen and can't afford to import tanks all the time so I don't read much manga.

Are you watching it for the first time? And why are you watching it in chronological order?

Why is it that when someone complains about older shows, accusing them of liking cute stuff is one of the most prominent comebacks, as if a fuckton of older anime don't have cute elements or cuteness as part of their appeal? Don't attack a bunch of people because of a few assholes.

I just randomly decided to watch the first episode of Corrector Yui. It was much better than I feared, but I guess the problem is that it gets repetitive perhaps?
I liked how lively Yui was, and it never got very boring. Yui has a nice character design.
I hope the next episodes put more focus on the real world than the digital world, the real world looks like it has more potential to be interesting. But let's see.

A shame it's only translated until episode 18, so won't be able to finish it in the next 30 years. But okay. Will watch what's translated, if it keeps my attention, and then put it on hold.

First time. And I'm watching it like that, because a friend told me to watch it like that. And so far I'm enjoying it very much.

>accusing them of liking cute stuff is one of the most prominent comebacks,
Because it's true

And? So what if they like that shit. That doesn't directly correlate with them being an asshole so bringing it up as if all people who like those kinds of things are just as bad is a dick move. You should use some other kind of comeback that's more relevant to what's being said than "Shouldn't you be watching a kind of show I personally dislike lol". Also, if you want to have any leverage over them, implying you have no clue what moe means just shoots you in the foot and makes you look like an idiot for insulting something you don't understand.

70's is pushing it for me, but I do like Galaxy Express 999.

>I love moeblob shit!
>plz don't insult it, just because another guy is an asshole
Is this basically the gist of your point?

No, the gist is that if you want to act smug and insult people, don't do it while coming off like an idiot. When you insult someone, insulting a vague strawman is pointless.

Fall into the "it's too old" for you category, huh?

>70's is pushing it for me
You're really missing out on some great stuff if that's the case.

I wouldn't say it's too old for me, but at that point, the audio quality starts to become a distraction.

I've been rewatching some green jacket Lupin recently. It's really cool and I wish there were more Lupin series in the style of the first six or so episodes because while I love the wackier stuff more, it's still cool to have as many interpretations of Lupin and the series' tone as possible. The Woman Called Fujiko Mine scratched that itch for a more serious show, so I'm glad for that. I haven't gotten to it yet, so what's the tone of blue jacket like?

If I wasn't talking to you, don't worry about my insults

>lupin
Hello, reddit.

...

Are you for real? I know you faggots love your Reddit boogiemanning but this is getting ridiculous. Given all of the myriad shows I've seen accused of being "Reddit" shows by insecure losers who're trying to fit in, you might as well reply to every single anime posted about with >reddit XD.

I'm currently watching Saint Tail and I have to say that I'm pleasantly surprised by the animation. The story is good too though it definitely gets repetitive but what long running mahou shojo doesn't? I'd honestly recommend this to anyone interested in the genre, its a solid series.

I'm honestly shocked that Corrector Yui still isn't full subbed because the manga not only had a US release but the anime was also half released too. How is it that no young weeb hasn't thought back fondly on the few episodes he was able to watch and set about correcting it? How does it not have even the slightest fanbase to push a translation? Is it because it was so similar to Card Captor Sakura or did it just get lost in the 90's? This really boggles my mind and also upsets me quite a bit because I would love to watch Corrector Yui at some point in my goddamn life but that just doesn't look like thats going to happen.

>inb4 learn Japanese

I have a weak grasp of the language but certainly not enough to understand raws.

You're easily angered.

it was a meh Sakura rip off, hard to make anyone interested

>U mad bro ROFL
I am definitely a little annoyed when you shits keep bringing Reddit up for absolutely no reason. How the hell would you even know what shows would be Reddit shows? Why do you care so much about it? If you're young enough to still think replies like this are clever or whatever, you shouldn't be browsing here. Screencap this post to show your friends that you annoyed someone on an anonymous imageboard and then fuck off.

First time watching Neon Genesis Evangelion and so far I have no idea what to say about it, considering I have only watched the first episode so far. I heard Persona 3 is based on it or something.

The blue jacket tone is pretty good. I haven't seen the older series, but its a nice mix of serious with just the right amount of silly. The added supporting cast is great too. I like it a lot more than The Woman Called Mine Fujiko

>hard to make anyone interested

Yui was like a mix of Card Captor Sakura and Magic Knight Rayearth. The art was even reminiscent of CLAMP's 90's style. I had the first volume of the manga when I was like 11 or 12. Maybe even 10. But I remember it just like I remembered Sarai, Kazam and Android Announcer Maico. It wasn't a bad manga and what little I've seen of the anime looks solid.

All I'm saying is that there are some anime with subs out there that did not deserve to be translated, they are so bad its not even funny, but Yui isn't one of them.
