Reddit is a pretty good resource for a variety of topics and everything is laid out nicely and logically sorted. Imageboards on the other hand are for quick nonsense and instant reactions. Not a treasure of well thought out content on a variety of topics that is also archived nicely.
Tldr: Reddit is generally a better resource with a better community than any image board.
