How can one English gentleman be so moe?

>they rearranged events from the novel specifically to blow Benten the fuck out that much harder
Holy shit

For a split second I thought the spoilers had been a ruse and they were going to kiss, then Nidaime proved himself to be a hero greater than Pompoko Kamen.

What changed?

>Supreme gentleman
>autismo
>BTFOs roasties
Nidaime is truly /ourguy/

More like it makes Kaisei look like second choice/settling.

All it did was make Yasaburo and Kaisei look bad, though.

>Yasaburo accepts he's a worthless faggot who will never get Benten and has to settle for Kaisei the silver medal

>Bentenfags on damage control

Someone mentioned this in the last thread, can anyone clarify if Sensei was trying to convince Nidaime to give up on his waifu in order to prevent a broken heart or were they fighting over who gets to tap that? My respect for Akadama hangs in the balance.

I know there are novelfags in these threads.

It looked like he loved her but Akadama didn't want them together and she rejected him anyway.
Also just hit me Nidaime is called Nyoigatake.

Kaiseifags blinded by their twisted win.

No way, having him walk off with Kaisei as the last scene is a huge change from having him go crawl back to the Benten at the end, reducing the impression that she might still have some part to play. Benten got relegated to the roll call of resolution visitations by Yasaburo, then he declares he is engaged to Kaisei after luring her to join his tsuchinoko hunting squad.

Somebody do it.

Bentenfags literally burned harder than her hair.

>Nidaime is suddenly Endeavor
>Ben10 is suddenly Elsa
What superpower will the tengu pull out of their ass next?

They'll definitely have already popped out a kid by the prologue of the third novel. God I hope Morimi doesn't die of a Japanese cold before it's released.

>crawl back to the Benten at the end
But he didn't crawl back. He went to comfort her and give her pity while she feels sorry for herself. I'm a Kaiseifag but the Benten scene should have been the last one, Benten still does have a part to play in the 3rd book.

>go to Pixiv for Nidaime/Benten
>most Nidaime art is Nidaime/Yasaburo
Thanks fujos.

Gyokuran is a legit waifu that will never betray you and ride to the death with you.

Already done.

>Nidaime asks to be Yasaburo's friend at the end of the novel and gets told to fuck off
Let Nidaime have some sort of companionship in the fanart at least

This was extremely cute and you can't say otherwise.

Nidaime/Little bro then, Yashiro and Nidaime interactions were very cute.

He is the called the Second for that reason, should also have a normal name like Akadama, but they never say it.

All I could thinking during this scene was "Benten getting BTFO a third time incoming".

>Benten still does have a part to play in the 3rd book
Probably, unless they consulted Morimi before making the change. It seems likely that it's a mistake on their part that goes hand in hand with rushing through the ending, but for now all we can do is reflect on how BTFO Benten was in the anime.

Akadama's name is Nyoigatake, so is Nidaime's.

Closing the anime with Kaisei actually makes it seem like she was the most important, the last episode is even named after the red fur of fate in reference to Kaisei and Yasaburo relationship.

she even fell for it, nidaime is a true gentleman

I don't like how pathetic and human Nidaime and Benten were in this episode. I spent twentysometing episodes with them being built as gods, especially Benten, and it ends with her being btfo to the point of being no more a credible power, no matter what she does from now on, and Nidaime will forever be associated with the coward hidden behind a bunch of tanuki with a bottle like a coward drunkard.

I know this is completely subjective, it's not a real criticism, but I don't think I will bother with a season 3 if it ever happens. Unless the tanuki race get the genocide it deserves.

>suddenly
Someone hasn't been paying attention. Literally episode 1 of the first season.

>I don't like how pathetic and human Nidaime and Benten were in this episode
But that's the entire point silly.

>with them being built as gods
Quite the contrary, Benten was introduced as a god and slowly being built down as fragile, that's a thing on both seasons.

Were they X-men back then too? I remember them only have wind and flight related shit.

I havent watched any of second season but this picture certainly makes me happy.

>haha le boku no hero reference ecks dee
This is approaching Jojo levels of cancer. I literally can't be in a single without some plebbitor forcing their gay shonen shit.

Akadama was, why wouldn't juniors be

She sure is my first choice

The fight was so stupid looking

In the first episode Benten kisses Yasaburo, leaving ice on his mouth.
Then in a recent episode you could see her walking and freezing everything in her path.

I know, it doesn't mean I have to like it. I don't know, it's like the author wrote a grim and "dirty" version of a superhero to show me he's human.
He can do that, there is objectively nothing wrong with it, but I don't like it.

She was built as fragile but never as pathetic. When Yasaburo "betrays" her picking Nidaime, she is hurt, but she's never pathetic. When Nidaime btfo her before, she's not pathetic, just defeated.
And I would have accepted Benten being brought down to the rank of human if Nidaime didn't come down with her.

And again, the author is right, this is something I simply don't like subjectively.

That was my point, Nyoigatake Yakushibo the first is Akadama, while Nyoigatake Yakushibo the second was Nidaime (as in the Second), so he too should have a normal name like Akadama but it's never stated.

I thought I remembered people saying the Nidaime was "adopted" like Benten but that never came up so I guess he's his real son?

I would say that while Nidaime did have a temper tantrum, you can clearly see that he gets over it and moves on while maturing. Meanwhile, Benten is still bedridden and totally pathetic, so the two weren't really brought down to the same level.

isn't Akadama a nickname

Nidaime doesn't need one, everyone calls him Nidaime

I thought it was more like his "human name", but yeah everybody calls the Nidaime with that name either way.

I'm really bothered about how the tengu subplot went nowhere beyond "wait for the next installment for any this to matter". Nidaime turned out to be an angry crybaby because Akadama stopped him from meeting his gf before the train left so she crossed him, Benten got BTFO once, got back on her feet just to go mopping because her hair burnt and Akadama sat on is ass telling others to do better while he's still unable to fly.

Hopefully some bookfag can confirm that the adaptation butchered all this shit up.

That theory was bullshit from day one, in episode 01 you can see his wings, he's a Tengu.

Akadama (赤玉) is the name of a popular wine produced by Suntory

dunno if it's the one Akadama-sensei is always drinking

He's not Akadama's real son. If the third book is really about the tengu succession then it's better that they leave it for the next season.

It didn't come up explicitly but Nidaime did say he won't become a tengu. If he was a real son/tengu then he wouldn't have said that because it implies you can unbecome a tengu to become one again.

Benten has been left as an unresolved character since S1 user, on S1 we saw a glimpse of emotions beyond being a diva, on S2 we saw her being completely broken down to the point she is pitied by a tanuki.
3rd book will settle the issue, remember this is meant to be a trilogy.

I don't say this very often, but holy shit she got BTFO

He has to be a tengu, but I just thought he was someone else's son by that post. Not like we know anything about Akadama 100 years ago or whether he had a woman ever.

To me Nidaime was brought down in this scene. He's down, dirty, bottle in hand, surrounded by the dirt of society known as tanuki, everyone makes him mad.
The fight? two girls grabbing each other hair.

Where is the English gentleman?

I don't understand the grandmother.
How is this a tanuki?

I think it just means he hates his tengu blood.

Oh, and the fight was really bad. Why did he win by burning her hair, where were her ice powers, why the fuck did Benten even think she could fight after she got btfo before.

Right but unlike Benten, Nidaime learns from that experience and grows.

Don't call Akadama a girl.

She could fight you idiot, it was a close battle.

Isn't this more proof that what Benten needs is Yasaburo?

Well? Do you?

Reminder that haircuts lead to character development

What did he learn exactly?

It was close as long as it was kept physical. Nidaime just had to use his fire powers to win.

So now who will heal her? Some new humie introduced in book 3?

Kyute....

>What did he learn exactly?
That he's still a Tengu despite previous insistence that he was not one. His last line was "I will not become a Tengu" which is a stark contrast to "I'm not a Tengu."

these are Japanese racoon dogs

Can I take them home? Home?

sorry, their natural habitat is Kyoto's shrines and temples

>not a tengu
>still not a tengu and also denies the chance of that ever changing
I don't see it. He just responds to Yasaburou's wording like he says he's not a tengu when he calls him one.
He doesn't correct him the final time Yasaburo does it in the novel, though.

I didn't remember, but you're right they're in the flashback.

His nose was bigger then too.

...Can Tengu shrink their nose...?

>mfw they showed us why Nidaime hates Benten

How can one man be so pathetic?

Theory time:
Benten is the Nidaime's secret daughter.

Hear me out, Benten's mother was the woman in the twelfth episode, she left Kyoto without telling the Nidaime she was pregnant and raised Benten all alone, Benten hated her father for abandoning her mother so in her world the clock tower of the hotel the two met is underwater

That would explain why Akadama abducted a random human girl that, unbeknownst to him, had the potential to become a tengu. She simply was the next in succession with the Nidaime away.

The age gap probably doesn't matter, it seems the two met in the 30s but the series could be set from the 70s to the 90s, and since Benten would LITERALLY be a half-tengu as Kaisei calls her, she could also age more slowly than normal humans.

>wanted Bentei to get BTFO and Kaisei x Yasaburo lovey dovey moments
>they literally set Bentei on fire and Yasaburo basically proposed to Kaisei

This show was so fucking perfect this season, l was in tears of joy.

More like his secret grandaughter

But then there's some awkward Leia-Luke lust going on there

So cool.

>that tail pop
My heart

It's awwwwright.

too bad Benten's in her twenties and the city we saw in the flashback was at least a century old

>but the series could be set from the 70s to the 90s
Flip phones.

Their natural habitat is hotpots.

Season 3 when?

Yes, but if she really is a half-tengu aging wouldn't mean much to her. Also, could be his granddaughter too as that user said, but it wouldn't explain the hate. Maybe her mother hit her because she grow up without a father?

did you forget that Akadama abducted her when she was in high school?

It's stated in the novel that Akadama kidnapped him the same way as Benten.

That would make a lot of sense though. Classical Japanese literature loves it when parents and siblings reunite without knowing their relationship and falling in love, only to find out and decide to commit suicide out of shame.

t. Yasunari Kawabata

Check back in 3 years.

Sup Forums will probably be dead before then.

I need the OST playing during this scene

I'm still confused as to why Nidaime and Benten were feuding in the first place, the whole episode was kinda rushed.

I think is went some thing like this

BAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

I don't understand this scene.

Why was he hidden behind the Tanuki?
Drinking on top of all that

I thought he was just covered in tanuki during the chaos and gave too few fucks to get out.

there can be only one not-tengu in Kyoto and neither is willing to step down

something something arrogant like a tengu

Why isn't the Eccentric Family more popular?

Is there a chance that Nidaime is actually Benten's grandpa?
I'm not so sure about the Tengu lifespan

I feel like the anime left out a lot of context concerning Nidaime.
He was just there chilling at the Tanuki meeting, and then out of nowhere he's a mess.

Nidaime's and Benten's catfight also felt rather odd.

Everyone has weird ears and noses.

Can you imagine how much will power you'd need to muster to leave a giant comfy fluff pile?
