It takes 5 years to obtain Dual Citizenship unless you are married to an Irish Citizen. Considering the fact that our island had such a poor economy during much of the 2010s, it is very likely that many of these individuals simply went home rather than sticking around for Citizenship (especially considering the fact that many of these people were EU Citizens anyway).
