I have never seen anyone suffer in a RomCon like Takeru suffered, Im glade he won Mizuki`s heart in the end. To be honest I am extremely sad its over but at least it didn't drag on forever like tomo chan.
I will have to say that I rank this manga in my top 5 anime/manga of all time, and im an anime doctor.

I hated this because the protagonist is Mizuki so I inserted as him and then the manga started turning me gay even though the first chapter set the girl up as a love interest.

I was in every single live translation thread from the very beginning all the way to the one before the TL guy's meltdown and vanishing act.
It was pretty damn hype and the happenings were great, but we were always, as the audience, knowingly overselling our reactions to keep the TL guy's fragile ego on the hook. It was a necessary evil for a long time. Who else was gonna do it? The guy knew the language, and he had a reliable, timely source for raw scans.
In the end, he sperged out over someone else unrelatedly translating a special unimportant side chapter near the end of the series, and releasing it to the public before he could, and left all of us hanging without closure because he was that butthurt and egotistical. There were only like, what, 7 chapters left? 5? And he spat in our faces and left without a word. No explanation. Not even a goodbye. We had to dig to find out what went down.
This guy was the kind of guy who, if he had been in a scanlation group, would have been the sole source of drama that killed the group and each individual member's passion for scanlating by rotting it with his ridiculous autism from the inside out.
In a lot of ways, it tarnished the overall experience of what was otherwise a great genderbender manga with some fantastic moments, and I envy anyone who gets to discover, start, and finish the entire thing without having to even know about the bullshit from the live TL threads, and the sperg who ruined them before the end.
I discovered it after he had already disappeared but before he had finished. I was deeply dismayed that there was no translation for the end, but I imagine that it was probably worse for you based on your description.

Mizuki, takeru and the main girl all view Mizuki as a boy after his transformation and constantly refer to him as a boy too. Then I'd come into a thread here and people are all refering to Mizuki as a girl. It's weird. And then apparantly he ends up with Takeru too. Being a girl is more than liking cute things and having your genitals magicall switched to that of a girl's. It's brain chemistry and -make-up.

but Takeru would still have the memories about the male Mizuki, so he probably wouldn't have the help him hide his gender, which leads to less time spent together and less romantic development, because he would have rejected the new female Mizuki
Estrogen doesn't change your male brain into a female brain though. Mizuki considers himself to be a boy at the beginning of the manga and still does after many weeks of being transformed so it's safe to assume he wasn't born with a female brain like transexuals usually are.
So then the question is, did Loki change the way his brain is structured as well as his genitals? If so that raises some serious morality issues that are probably too deep for this manga.
As I understand Mizuki is given the option to change back, which means he was a girl when asked. And that's what's fucked up, he should have been changed back to a boy, maybe given some weeks to adjust and then be asked which he'd prefer. Which would be to stay whatever he is at the time of asking. You take the manliest man alive and completely change his body and brain to that of a female magically and he'll too would want to stay girl because that's how his brain functions now.
There was a chapter where takeru realized that he loves Mizuki regardless of gender. I think it's when the whole gang visited takeru's home.

changes in hormone levels won't change your brain, true, but it certainly can change behaviour. even just small things, like giving in to dressing girly or being a little more submissive can make big changes over time.

Estrogen actually has fairly little effect on behaviour. It's primary function is regulating the reproductive system. It's true that Mizuki would become more submissive but that's an effect of losing testosterone, since it's test that causes increased assertiveness.
If you force a normal man to take estrogen everyday he won't suddenly become more girly or gay or want to dress like a girl. He'd probably just become depressed and less aggressive/assertive. And probably have a decreased sex drive too.
And more fat.
and again, this means that the upsurge of estrogen levels, while a given addition with female bodies, does alter Mizuki's brain eventually big time. This doesn't make Mizuki gay whenever scenario like this happens, but its the estrogen levels that comes along with the female body that causes it.
