Thanks for making the thread 12 hours early OP there's so much to talk about that hasn't already been covered a week ago do keep up the great thread timing
Interviews from Febri are getting translated. There actually is quite a bit to talk about right now.
I haven't watched any new episodes since the tweest, is it worth finishing? I was only in for the plot and now that it went full retard I don't really feel like watching it.
So don't watch it? I don't know what else to tell you mate.
>now that it went full retard I don't really feel like watching it.
Plot went off the rails onto another set of rails and is now great in a different way.
And best boy is suffering.
Both best boys, in fact.
It all depends on tomorrow. There isn't much between the tweest and now, so if tomorrow ends up being epic you're going to miss out. And whether it's awesome or a complete shit show I bet the threads will still be fun.
If Ki is zaShunina, then when and why did he start calling himself Yaha-kui zaShunina?
I don't think zaShu was there for the beginning, that was just Tsukai and friends. Or did I miss him explicitly being named as ki?
People have just been speculating zaShu to be Ki, since Ki is the only other anisotrope in that sequence to express interest in the singularity.
It's not confirmed, just popular fan theory.
Can't sleep, too anxious.
Why would you watch something you don't feel like watching?
Here's a crackpot theory. What if anisotrophics can split or join their 'selfs' at will? The being that makes up Tsukai Saraka could be Ki and Wa at the same time. I hope we get an answer as to why it's implied that there are two anisos on earth, at least.
We don't really know how their names and relationships work. It could be that Yaha-kui zaShunina is his full designation/name and Ki is his position among the anisotropics, for example.
Ki was interested, analytical, and the one who first expressed the possibility to act, which matches his core personality very closely.
Reposting the translations from the last thread.
Supervising Director Murata:
>Q: So the first story elements that were visualised were zaShunina and Kado?
>Murata: Yes. I was somewhat relieved when it was decided that Arisaka Ako will be handling the character design. Her style is modern, but also refined. The story can get quite crazy, so the characters had to be visually understandable to offset it somewhat. Ms. Arisaka was perfect for it. The vision for zaShunina was that he'd look like a transcendentally beautiful, aloof young man, who is distinctly inhuman in some ways. He is also innocent when it comes to humans and very young in some respects. If you subtly blend these traits together, you get a very arresting and charismatic character.
>Q: Mr. Terashima's vocal performance is stellar too.
>Murata: During the casting process, the emphasis was placed on intellectual tone and androgyny. Mr. Terashima's interpretation also added latent sensuality to him, which was the closest to the image of zaShunina we had as well.
>Q: Among the women, Natsume is the most sensible character, isn't she?
>Murata: Indeed. Saraka, Shinawa, and Natsume are all heroines, but Saraka and Shinawa are both rather off in some ways. Unlike them, Natsume is a realistic, down to earth woman. In a normal world and circumstances, she would probably make the best love interest and heroine. I mean, when it comes to Shinawa, it's doubtful she even understands romantic love.
>Q: If the Wam, Sansa and other anisotropic objects really existed, would you use them?
>Murata: If I were allowed to... I totally would (laugh). Free electricity, technological development fuelled by by the removal of energy-related restrictions and so on. That said, I'm not sure it would necessarily make people happier. If you asked people living in the pre-industrial society and today if they're happy, it's not a given that modern people would consider themselves happier. In episode 9, zaShunina says "We want to bathe in more information than we can process". If you look at that statement closer, it's a clear proof that he is presently dissatisfied with his life. At that moment, his desires and desires of common humans actually overlap.
Episode guide comments.
Episode 2:
>There is a process in which zaShunina eventually chooses "verbal language" as his method of communication (a direct approach into the brain -> vocalisation tuning and harmonisation -> imitation of the other side -> information absorption from the smartphone). zaShunina lacks human information, so his methodical exploration and information acquisition is both thorough and overflowing with a sense of wonder.
>Series director comment: It's an episode about how Shindo first established communication with zaShunina after his journey from space. At the very beginning, zaShunina is as vulnerable and defenseless as a baby and the visuals hint on that. Then he gradually learns human expressions and behaviour and in episode 3 we can already see him emote himself.
Episode 3:
>The reveal of zaShunina's nature and the infinite energy source called the Wam is a huge surprise for humanity and the audience, but in midst of all this, Saraka focuses on something else. Namely, zaShunina and Shindo's relationship.
>By common logic, zaShunina kidnapped him and held him prisoner. Worse yet, zaShunina's very existence is immensely different from humans. Yet despite all this, he interacts with zaShunina as if it were the most natural thing in the world. Saraka has participated in a number of UN talks, but this is a personality type she has never encountered before. The bizarre situation makes her burst out laughing and this reaction is rather cute, but the main point is how can Shindo feel so comfortable around zaShunina.
>For Shindo, this is what "negotiation" really means. If you have two parties and there is some friction, you step between them and look for the best outcome for both. It was shown in episode 0 as well. And humanity is not his only focus; the anisotropic being and its interests also matter.
>This natural inclination indicates the key difference between Shindo and Saraka's ability as mediators.
Episode 4:
>zaShunina, being a completely unbiased outside observer, is highly critical of some foundations of human society. (...)
>The character interactions shine here. Saraka, despite being 24 and reasonably professionally experienced, gets overly excitable and emotional in the car scene with Shindo (alone). It's not appropriate nor professional, but since he's apparently the type to have idle (and hilarious!) chats with the anisotropic being zaShunina, she probably felt she could let her guard down and feel at ease. Seeing how easily he got both Hanamori and Saraka under his thumb, Shindo's people skills really shouldn't be underestimated.
>Series director comment: zaShunina's "hello?" was rather popular, wasn't it. The motion of him patting his bread is something we inserted at the storyboard stage. He had seen bread in episode 2, so he felt compelled to study it closer. The episode has the Wam distribution and the UN reaction, but it's fun to watch zaShunina being his adorable self, too.
Episode 6:
>Between all the transport planning and implementation, there is a conversation between Shindo and his mother. Somewhat coquettish, she is the most sensual and physical of all the female characters. The scene where she talks about the anisotropic being's reproduction and loneliness is bewitching. At the end of the episode, zaShunina shows a new item, a brain-like device called the Sansa. Its grotesquely organic look follows the feeling of physicality set by Shindo's mother.
Episode 7:
>Dressed in yukata, zaShunina owns that look with surprising ease. Perhaps becoming an anisotropic makes one universally adaptable. (...)
>The concept for the Sansa was brain and when it works it, it essentially "opens up" the brain to the new perception ability. The visuals reflect that.
Episode 8
>Series director comment: The date episode when Saraka took Shindo to visit her home and family. For Shindo fans, it's most likely a "are you fucking kidding me?" episode (laugh). But for Saraka, zaShunina's arrival puts in danger everything humanity has painstakingly accomplished. She is anxious and afraid of him.
>(..)Saraka doesn't quite realize how audacious she is being and she is a bit of an airhead in this aspect. It's cute how flustered she gets when others point it out. A dangerous heroine indeed. That's youth for you.
>In zaShunina's exchange with the reporters, one can't help but think about pros and cons of "telling". In the age when anyone can spread information, what zaShunina's says inevitably reaches everybody.
Episode 9:
>Having heard out Saraka's thoughts, Shindo brings alcohol to Kado hoping to have a deeper and more detailed discussion with zaShunina. In response to his doubts concerning the drastic changes the anisotropic is bringing to society, zaShunina introduces another device, Nanomis-hein.
>This episode reveals zaShunina's true aim and shifts the story to another phase, bringing large changes. The scene where zaShunina tells Shindo the truth is a "confession" in two ways: it's the confession of the mystery he has kept to himself until now, and it's a confession of love, expressing his wish for them to walk the path of life together. In this sense, it contrasts with Saraka's date episode before. One has to wonder what "right answer" will this love triangle manage to find...
...
...
>that 2nd picture
I won't be bamboozled again.
Where's episode 5?
>love triangle
They knew.
Hasn't been translated yet, I think.
>wake up six hours too early
>can't go back to sleep
>two threads
Fuck this shit.
Isn't it seven hours?
I would like to go to sleep at all.
Go for a run. Don't sit or stop for an hour, keep walking even if you're feeling tired. Then go to sleep.
Help me, anons. I think I've fallen in love with Shindo. I didn't expect to but over the course of 11 episodes he's definitely grown on me. How did I get him to fall in love with me? He's just somehow completely my type.
>Seeing how easily he got both Hanamori and Saraka under his thumb, Shindo's people skills really shouldn't be underestimated.
As refreshing as it is to have a MC with decent human skills instead of a superpowered autist, I can only regret that he's the type to attract retards like Saraka.
It's okay Saraka I understand but please go away, give up and leave the boy to the better alien. Thank you.
I was thinking of just drinking Nyquil
Yeah that's right user, feed the budding cancer within you, get more sugar into your system.
If I'll never get to hug that alien's body, I don't see why I shouldn't cultivate my own death.
...
I never realized the pattern just wouldn't stop replicating no matter you close you get. Well I knew it in theory because well that's the way fractals work but seeing it is another thing entirely.
...
>Series director comment: The date episode when Saraka took Shindo to visit her home and family. For Shindo fans, it's most likely a "are you fucking kidding me?" episode (laugh)
This will never get old.
Fractals, not even once.
And that's what makes the fractal choice for Kado brilliant. Kado can expand to an enormous size; it's a world-creating machine. It's basically fractal in nature.
...
Grr, I'm gonna getcha.
Nooo.
Don't come any closer
Talk to your husbando and calm the fuck down.
Post a screenshot of Kado that represents best how you feel right now.
I'll start.
...
Is your hand swelling user? Too much fapping?
The last few episodes have been heavy handed.
Just blame everything bad that happens on Tsukai. Even the writing. Works for me.
How long until this dumbass fucks over humanity because she doesn't want her fujobait husbando to leave?
What, I'm pretty sure Shinawa would love to leave herself. Unless you meant to post Tsukai.
You sound upset.
I was genuinely confused, but yeah, I was upset if it makes you feel better.
But I couldn't be happier. The whole staff of Kado sounds like they would drive over Tsukai without so much as a second thought if given the opportunity.
>Their meeting each other will change the world.
So we're getting that instrumentality after all?
Not necessarily, I mean that statement is already true and the last episode hasn't even aired.
Didn't the director also say something about the world ending? I'm not too sure how metaphorical that was, but it's a possibility to consider.
The old concept trailer also had a tagline "the end of the world and the beginning".
I saw that line in the concept trailer yes. But I'm still not sure if that applies to a current wam and nanomishein filled world or a world that will come after this one. We'll see.
>second BD box, which has the OST
I'm going to hope that the chinks deliver on that one ;_;
There was also one line from that interview about marriage in that fujo magazine.
I was thinking about that article, did Shindo "marry" Tsukai yet? I remember there was something about marrige before the end of the world and how it would make sense later.
Wasn't the line something about how Shindo's the type to marry someone the day the world ends?
Well, the one anisotropic who made a marriage proposal sn't Saraka.
I swear if you guys keep giving me hopes for the finale and we get an epilogue with Shindo and Tsukai happily married with 3 kids I'll haunt you in the next life.
I'm too lazy to search in the archives, but I think it was something along the lines of 'he'd marry someone who's by his side the day the world ends'. I think the latter part was said to make sense later.
>It's not appropriate nor professional, but since he's apparently the type to have idle (and hilarious!) chats with the anisotropic being zaShunina, she probably felt she could let her guard down and feel at ease
It's rather sad when you think about it. The only reason Saraka is interested in Shindo is because she wishes she had half the relationship and chemistry he has with zaShunina.
>yfw if Tsukai ends up with zaShunina
You know, I did consider that possiblity and find it hilarious.
Bring it, I'm behind seven dimensions.
How does that even work except in a hatesex scenario in a world where Shindo is dead and/or holding the camera?
He's gonna marry them both for world peace. It's pretty much a perfect solution:
>dude gets two aliens to satisfy his alien boner
>ningens saved
>Saraka and zaShunina can resolve their ideological differences and get extra anisotropic fucking as a bonus
>unironically expecting a fujo end
>unironically expecting a non "it was a dream" end
ACTIVATING THE ALMONDS
>unironically expecting this to end
i n f i n i t e r e c u r s i o n
>hatefucking in 40D
Could be hilarious.
I know the suffering is never going to end.
No matter how the last episode goes, someone is going to be butthurt.
Fractal pottery.
Hatefucking in 40D probably looks like a shonen battle.
So it's good? Guess I'll read it then.
wrong bread
Nah, that was shitty 3D. 40D perception is webm related.
Still in topic.
2.5 hours remain.
What would the worst ending be?
...
reincarnation as Shindo's and Tsukai's child.
DELET THIS
At least it'd stop his suffering and give him time to process it all.
The one I don't like.
No homo whatsoever and zaShunina's feelings ending up being irrelevant.
Any ending where zaShunina is sad or brainwashed.
I just finished Ubik because I was looking for something less disappointing than Kado and I enjoyed it very much. No fujobait but I found one of the female characters to be quite formidable and yandere.
I felt that Childhood's End was something of a disappointment, however.
>childzone zaShunina
>stop his suffering
>I felt that Childhood's End was something of a disappointment, however.
Heresy. The only thing that was kind of bad were human characters in the second half (flat as fuck); the rest is 10/10.
Amazon has added a pic of what is most likely the paper wrapper for the novel. It's odd.
>Readers. Please give me the right answer.
Is it gay if Tsukai was a man in a past life.
